Spring Forward (A Brother for All Seasons sweet romantic comedy series Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

So long, Boston, graveyard to both my marriage and my dreams. Hello New York City, land of second chances. Well, hello has to wait. I’m temporarily stuck in Hartsfield, hometown to the boy I had to leave behind sixteen years ago.

Mark Sommers is ten times more handsome than he was in eighth grade and has a heart to match. Just ask my great-aunt’s hole-riddled antique store, the recipient of his healing touch. Since he seems interested in me only as a friend, I guess touching’s off the table for us. Unless I magically become a building in need of repair.

I’ve sworn off emotionally unavailable men like Mark, anyhow. Even though he has good reasons to be so closed off, I can’t wait around for him to open up. I need to restart my life now, far from here. But my great-aunt has a secret, one that could destroy everything. I wish I could prevent that from happening, but it would mean abandoning my dreams yet again. And making a home in Hartsfield, near the man I yearn for but can’t have.

Spring Forward is the final book in the A Brother for All Seasons sweet romantic comedy series.

I really enjoyed this story. It is book four in the series, but it works as a standalone, which is how I read it. Now I definitely want to read the other books in the series. Claire and Mark dated in their early teens before her family moved away. As a temporary pit stop after her divorce, Claire stays with her great-aunt back in Mark’s hometown. As they start spending time together old feelings resurface and grow. Mark is still stuck emotionally after a very difficult event in his life and this presents issues. One thing I loved about this story was how forthright Claire was. She didn’t beat around the bush and she didn’t just work on assumptions, for the most part. As she says, “I would say you can’t let a tight-lipped man be such a troublemaker, but truthfully, it’s the people who try to fill in the blanks who get everything wrong.” When there was misunderstanding, it was more about Mark’s own confusion than assumptions, which I appreciated. Misunderstandings based on assumptions can be so frustrating in romance novels. I found both Claire and Mark engaging, but I especially liked Claire. The secondary characters are a lot of fun. The epilogue was so sweet. A great wrap up to the story and the series. This story had no harsh language and it was closed-door, but there is a fair bit of innuendo.

This is a good story. It is a very sweet second chance romance. The dynamic between the characters is interesting. Watching them dance around each other both healing and rediscovering in their own way is very touching. I just did not connect as strong to the story. Please give the story a chance.

This is the fourth book in this series and this is Mark and Claire’s journey.
Claire is recently divorced and moves back to her hometown to regroup, and temporarily works in her aunt’s antique store. Mark is a widower, and he was Claire’s first boyfriend, and the one she left behind.
This is a well written story which is easy to read, with secrets, romance, family, friendships, humor, witty banter, second chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, sweet, and fun addictive page turner.

Moving back to her former small town after a painful divorce, Claire is happy to be helping her aunt in her antique store temporarily. When she meets up with her first boyfriend and former schoolmate, she is not sure how to deal with this complicated man. When Mark sees his former girlfriend after all these years, he too is unsure how to feel about her. As a widower, he has not been willing to open his heart to another woman, after losing his young wife two years ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful series about the four Sommers brothers. This book is another lovely story of love lost and maybe the opening of Mark and Claire’s hearts to something new. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

I enjoyed Mark and Claire's story. Both have been through a lot and are trying to find themselves again. Claire wants to follow her dreams and isn't afraid to jump out there and pursue them. Mark is trying to manage his new normal but is wondering if he is being true to himself. Aunt CeCe has them both figured out and has been pushing Claire to go for it. The plot flowed nicely and kept me entertained from beginning to end. It's a funny story of second changes, friendship, family, and love. Good read!
