About the author

Dawn is from the North East of England. Her life is spent juggling. The juggling balls are: children, husband, work (occasionally), voluntary work, professional knitting (notice she doesn't class this as work), and writing. When she has time she actually sleeps.
The whole point of writing for Dawn is just to get it all off her chest and out of her head. If she doesn't write it down then she ends up having long conversations with the characters out loud and her husband thinks she's crazy.
I like chocolate, coffee and donuts, sometimes all at the same time.
I love evenings around a campfire singing in the company of good friends.
I like listening to the dawn chorus even if I’ve been awake all night.
I like reading stories with characters that are filled with hope even in their darkest hours.
I like happy endings.
I write LGBTQ+ Romance (with happy endings of course).

Just...
The empathy and research it took to write Kit!
Beautiful, incredibly detailed, touching, heartbreaking and heart-healing. I am stunned!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2018Every once in a while I’m jealous of my reader self. Taking amazing adventures, visiting exotic places, and most of all, meeting marvelous and extraordinary people. Kit is one of those exceptional souls that I’m green with envy that my book alter ego has met. You see, Kit is special. And I’m not talking about his placement on the autism spectrum, I’m referring to him. I feel privileged to know his story. This short story gives us a snapshot of his life and although I was satisfied with the ending, I also craved more. Kit doesn’t mean to, but he ends up in the most precarious situations that one can’t help but smile at. I’m grateful Stephen appeared and forced some alterations to his plans. Some things are simply meant to be and Stephen throwing Kit off-kilter was definitely one of them. But I’m getting ahead of myself…let go back to the beginning.
What's to like: This is a quiet but spellbinding story. Kit’s story begins with a ludicrous scene that will cause your face to split from side to side. Bessie, Kit’s sidekick and faithful service dog, tends to cause a spot of trouble here and there. It’s not her fault really, she can’t help herself. Nevertheless, she causes a scene, graciously referred to as Bessiegate. But the importance of this encounter is the man with eyes full of spring. Kit is mortified and escapes to the haven of the bookstore, his place of employment and home. But not without haunting memories of a man whom he likes but he will only (reluctantly) admit this fact when Yenta pulls it out of him. Ahh, Yenta. A delightful lady that does her best to step in where Kit’s late mother’s void is. Kit’s had a hard year. He lost his mum, his rock, and greatest advocate. Before he had a chance to try to right his world, his boyfriend also deserted him. Needless to say, he’s relying on his contingency plans more than ever. But for some reason, he can’t seem to plan for anything where Stephen is involved. Which is one of the things that….
What's to love …I loved the most. Stephen seems to understand Kit with such accuracy that even Kit is unnerved. He sees him with crystal clear clarity. He hears him with precision without a single word spoken. And he feels him with an exactness that no one has ever come close to. One of Kit’s wishes would be to create a manual for the world to understand him. But as he says, it’s as if Stephan not only read but wrote the manual. Simply put, Stephen knows exactly what to do, when to do it and how when it comes to the delicate sensitivities that Kit experiences. This filled my heart with pure joy. On the surface, Kit comes across as quirky and odd. But his brain is just hardwired differently than most. The power of this story lies within the characters. It may be short but it’s splendid…and I adored them.
Beware of: If you’re looking for heat, you won’t find it here. If you’re searching for traditional, you might as well move along. However! If you’re craving something full of wonder and charisma, this might be exactly what you need. Just have a little patience and I believe you will be rewarded. And yes, we know Springful is not a real word. *smile*
This book is for: Well…I’ll be honest and tell you….not everyone. I believe the target audience is smaller than it deserves to be. Fate, fluke, and fortune bring Winter and Spring together and I’m grateful I had the chance to behold their beauty.
*note* This is part of Seasons of Love Anthology. Might have to check the rest of it out….

Kit has apergers and has a contingency plan for everything. But he has no such plan when he meets Stephan. Every encounter they have throws him off balance, however, there is something about Stephan that makes Kit feel safe and Stephan just can't get Kit off his mind.
This story was cute and is really about the beginning of a relationship.
I did not really like the abrupt ending. I wanted more Kit and Stephan.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2018When I started reading this book, I was thinking “This is all over the place, what the heck is going on”. I couldn’t decide if it was writing style or the characters. The further and further I got into the book, the less and less I cared – it was so interesting and neat to read. It was a wonderful look into an autistic character’s mind and his thought processes. It was a very different read for me and I really enjoyed it!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018Lyrical in places and just plain fun in others. Kit and Stephan not so cute meeting will make you laugh. However, Kit working to navigate a world that isn't built for him is tender. However, we get a great dog and the sunny Stephan. More of who Stephan in would enrich but a pleasure overall to snuggle down with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tolle Story

4.0 out of 5 stars Dawn Sister...on my 'one to watch' list
under-150-pages, sugary-sweet, romance, little-or-no-sex, feel-good
4.25 stars from me. A lovely little read, full of romance but absolutely NO sex. It gave me the same sort of feel-good vibe as the Maps series by Nash Summers and the Tork/Adam series by Claire Davis and Al Stewart. The only reason I've marked it down a peg or two was the fact that for me it ended quite abruptly.
