Static Dreams Volume Two: A Dark Anthology from Twisted Minds Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

Shadows twist over our night terrors, bringing with them more tales of haunted pasts, hidden futures, broken promises, and the blood necessary to hold it all together. Where a plot of land seeks to have its grisly appetite sated in return for rich rewards. Where a faceless man stands watching helplessly as the lives of those around him slip past through the years, ever-repeating, always connected yet separate. And where a pair of boys come face to face with the dark secrets of their sleepy seaside town, their own initiation rite now unavoidable.

Light the candles and say your prayers, this night may just smother you. Or keep your eyes wide open, for it might be your salvation from these distorted static dreams.

Featuring nine dark short stories by Patrick Walts, River Dixon & tara caribou, Sam Kirk, Christopher Allen Waldrop, M. Ennenbach, Mark Towse, Chris Nelson, Bobby Blade and Mark Ryan.

Static Dreams, volume 2, is a collection of eerie tales by various authors. Nine stories edited by Tara Caribou, promise night terrors, haunted pasts, hidden futures, and the necessary blood to hold it all together as the book blurb describes.

I found some stories thought-provoking, others darkly terrifying. “Daniel & The Gryphon” by Christopher Allen Waldrop, told a tale of a 9-year-old latchkey kid spending time on the roof of his apartment building with a mythological winged creature. The story had me speculating if the lonely child really saw the legendary carnivore and what his intentions were as he walked the edge of the building.

Another story, “Reverberation” by Sam Kirk, begins as a tale of a young woman held captive, bound and gagged to a chair. Then additional terror is experienced by 16-year-old Charlie as family secrets are exposed about his demented grandpa and foul mouth grandma during a visit to their country farm.

Static Dreams delivers twisted tales from twisted minds. I give this anthology 4 stars for keeping me awake at night.
