Stone Cold Notes: A Single Mom/Rock Star Romance (The Seasons Change) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 4,209 ratings

They called him Stone Cold.

Once upon a time, I called him my pen pal.

When I wrote to Callum Rose five years ago, I never expected a response. He was an up and coming rock star, afterall, and I was just a shy seventeen-year-old. He did write back though, and through hundreds of emails, we became best friends.

Until the day we unknowingly broke each other’s heart.

It’s been three years since our last email. I’m all grown up with a new job at Good Music, and finally have my act together. But then Callum Rose walks in the door, and I’m instantly thrown back to the days when he meant everything to me.

The thing is...he doesn’t know who I am. He’s never seen my face. And this Callum Rose lives up to his stone cold reputation.

That is, until one night, he sees me in another man’s arms, and decides to claim me. Then there is nothing cold about him.

Callum becomes a man on fire for me, introverted, awkward, chubby Wren Anderson. He’s obsessive, possessive, and kind of stalker-y—and I like it...a little too much. The problem is, he still doesn’t know I’m the girl who walked away from him or the reason behind it, and I’m afraid when he finds out, I’ll be right back in the cold again.

Wren and Callum are perfect! 💗
5 out of 5 stars
Wren and Callum are perfect! 💗
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶🌶 Stalker romance ✔️ Penpals trope ✔️ Touch her and you die vibes ✔️ Possessive MMC ✔️ Dual POV ✔️ Lots of spice ✔️ This book was so good! 😍 It was a fun read with some extra drama at the end, but it’s a HEA so don’t worry! I’m a sucker for books where the main characters start off writing to each other 💗The book starts with Wren emailing Callum through their band’s email. She had recently seen them preform at a show and wanted to let Callum know she really liked the band, but specifically him. They write back and forth for a year and a half. They become best friends and fall for each other, but something happens and Wren stops writing him when they were supposed to meet in real life. He doesn’t have any other way to get into contact with her. Fast forward three years and Wren ends up getting a job at the place where Callum and the band are recording their new album. This book goes back to their emails consistently and it is the cutest thing ever 💗They fall for each other and it’s so nice to see them come back together again after their time apart. And there is a lot of spice once things kick off between them 🔥 Through Callum’s POV, we learn that he has been stalking Wren pretty much since she stopped writing him. He kept his distance because he was mad at her for ghosting him, but he still wanted to make sure she was okay 😩💗 I would say this is a super tame stalker romance compared to others I’ve read, but I LOVED IT. It’s also part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone!

I can’t write this review. The last scene has me in tears, it was so beautiful. ‘One day we’ll be trees’… the title says it won’t make sense. Just do yourself a favor, and read this book. It was the first of this author I read, and I’m so glad I did, tears and all. If you like sweet FMC’s, strong/shy quirky sweet single moms, sexy stalker -all in intense but not abusive male leads… read this book. Even if you don’t, it was still good. There was humor and a mix of emotions, and a solid easy to follow story line, even with flash backs (nothing I hate more than unclear timelines and storylines). Okay, gotta go reread the entire last chapter just because it was such a good ending.

This was an amazing read! Honestly it had everything I needed. I’ve read several books now by this author and I’ve loved them all but this one has a special place in my heart! Wren and Callum are just truly meant for each other!

There were so many instances were I was absolutely swooning over what Callum would do for Wren, but there were times I felt a little *uncomfy* 😅😬.

Wren and Callum were pen pals for a long time. Wren, being a thick/curvy not-gorgeous girl, didn’t think Callum would ever respond to her emails since he’s a part of The Seasons Change- a growing popular music group (he’s the bass). But he did. Callum, who’s used to being quiet and has lead an unconventional life, found himself intrigued by the awkward-yet-refreshing 17-almost-18-year old. And thus began a wonderful friendship between pen pals. Until Callum asks for Wren to show up at one of his gigs… and she leaves him hanging 😬, effectively ending their friendship 😏.

5 years pass and Wren gets a new job, a receptionist where The Seasons Change produces music. As soon as she sees Callum, old feelings she thought were buried resurface, and Callum finds himself attracted to her. When one of my band mates asks her to a party, Callum finally realizes he wants her for himself, and no one’s gonna have her 😈.

    What I liked/loved-(possible spoilers)
—the smexx… I mean, I mean, the intimacy between Wren and Callum 😅😬. Nah. I’m not gonna lie. I like the dirty smexx. Oh LAWD. The tension. The chemistry. The volume of it 🔥🥵. It’s on the medium slow burn side (full smex at about 52%), but good gawd, these two are insatiable. The stamina in Callum🔥… and poor Wren’s v😅😬👀

—His JP side. Sigh. I love it when the H’s willing to b€at up any man that does his woman wrong, and Callum does this in spades (it helps that he does Krav Maga 😉💅 so he’s a fighter 🥵)

—Callum is ALL about Wren. There is absolutely no ow anywhere. Yes, he’s a V, so he’s been dedicated and celibate for her 🥺❤️. He’ll do anything for her, which leads me to…

—The swooniness throughout the book. This man will do whatever it takes to make sure she’s okay.

—After all these years wasted, he’s not gonna be apart from her anymore. She might be upset or mad, but he’ll find a way to fix it. She might try to ask for space, but he’s not gonna give it to her 😅😈. He will bulldoze his way into any situation, and I can admire that

—The pureness of their love. Sigh. The darn epilogue had me bawling 🥰🥺❤️. Callum saying he’ll be the tree protecting Wren was EVERYTHING (and helped raise the star rating for me). IYKYK

—The penpal relationship. ERMAGOD. Their emails were so cute, so organic, so beautiful. Getting to know them this way was amazing! Gah. I loved the flashbacks to the emails, even when things went sour 🥺

—The stalking/spying aspect. OH YES 😈👏🏻 I love this in my books! And Callum has been watching her 👀

    Things I didn’t like
—The voyeurism aspect. Ugh. I’m not a fan of this type of book anymore (Sonia from years ago liked BDSM type of books that have this element a lot… not 2022 Sonia 😬). I felt a little uncomfy when Wren, Callum, and Adam (OM1) go to the smex party and Adam basically invites Wren there so Callum could watch them have smex (Adam likes to have people watch him with girls and Callum one of his usual voyeur audience members 😐). Luckily, Callum wakes the f up, but come on! Before it began though, Adam asks Wren if she likes to watch (which she apparently does but didn’t know she did until then). This kind of gets fixed once Wren and Callum are together cause Callum likes to watch Wren… but they’ll still visit smex clubs in the future

—Callum not acting sooner. I understood his hesitation with everything that went down, but seeing how JP he is, I don’t know why he waited so long

Overall, I really enjoyed it ❤️. I loooved everything about it except for that ^^

Fantastic writing from Wolf, as always, but the hero wasn't a great fit for me and I had some definite issues with this. After an EXCELLENT first book in the series, I was so excited to dive into Callum's story. He's a silent, broody, rock star whose mysterious nature had me so intrigued. And he does make for quite an interesting character; I loved his hidden sweetness and how much he truly cares for our heroine, but... umm, yeah, he takes that love too far. He IS a full-on stalker in this, and I found him more than a little creepy. Once Wren became his girl, it was permanent for him, and I shudder to think what would've happened if she'd denied him.

The story follows Wren, a woman who is shy and insecure. There's only one man she's ever felt close to, and that's her former pen pal, Callum. Early in Callum's career, Wren sent him a letter, and the two bonded over their introverted tendencies. One letter became two until they became best friends with the hint of more, only for it all to crumble just as they were about to meet. Now, Wren finds herself working at the same place where Callum - now a rock star - is recording an album with his band. The quiet, intense Callum doesn't seem to like Wren that much, but he's definitely attracted. It's not long before Callum's intensity becomes intimidating for Wren, and they grow close in way she never anticipated.

I love the quality of Wolf's writing, and this one is as strong as ever in a lot of ways. The complex, nuanced characters are so compelling, and I loved the twists and turns in their backstory. I always love it when a couple meets through letters and emails first, so that part of the story was great. But, uh, Callum's desire to watch everything wasn't for me. Not only is he a stalker, but he's also into watching at sex parties, and the level of kink - especially so early in the story - wasn't my favorite. It happened SO early in the book that I really struggled to understand the connection in present day. It felt like neither Callum nor Wren had earned some of those moments, if that makes sense. Also, this is SUCH a departure from the first book in the series, tonally, that it was a little jarring to me. The first hero was literally a bodyguard keeping the heroine away from stalkers, etc, and then... yeah, lol. That's where I struggled a bit. But I think the book was well done in many aspects, and there are certainly going to be readers who love this. I'm definitely still invested in the series, though I'm kinda terrified of Adam's book.

This is the second book of Julia Wolf’s The Seasons Change series and if you’re looking for a beautifully written unconventional storyline, this story is for you !
Julia’s characters are always complex and she loves to play with their (and ours !) emotions. That book is no exception.
Callum is broody, silent, intense, and yes, even if he doesn’t like to be called that, he is creepy. He isn’t perfect by any standard but perfection is so boring !
Wren is perfect for him and I loved every moment of their journey.

I love the Seasons Change crew and fell hard for Callum. He is just incredible. The start between Wren and him was so sweet and these two introverts falling for one another is everything. There are some seriously steamy scenes as this beautiful story unfolds. I must share my favorite from this read:
“I love you, Wren. It might be a psycho kind of love, but it’s pure and it’s true.” “What if I don’t want a psycho kind of love?” I squeezed out. “The thing with this kind of love is you really don’t get a choice. It’s yours.”
    Major swoon!!! Loved this read.
