About the authors
Donna E. Lane is an award-winning, multi-genre author with a passion for exploring all aspects of the human experience. As a Christian counselor and spiritual director, Dr. Lane has dedicated herself to guiding individuals on their spiritual journeys, offering solace and wisdom through her integrated approach. Her 46 years of experience in this field have provided her with insights which she seamlessly weaves into her writing, delving into the complexities of relationships and the depths of the human heart.
With a boundless imagination, a fervent devotion to Jesus, a love for history, and a fascination with time, she crafts stories that resonate deeply with readers, offering the opportunity to embark on unforgettable journeys to other worlds, across time, and into space.
A devoted wife of 44 years and mother of three, she now cherishes her role as a grandmother and mom to her new puppy, a little white furball named Rosie Cotton.
Dr. David Lane is an accomplished and respected leader in the world of counseling and marriage and family therapy, who trades his serious counselor hat for a whimsical pen to create captivating children’s tales. With a Ph.D. in Counseling and a trove of experience that spans over four decades, Dr. Lane is no stranger to the intricacies of the human psyche. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, a clinical member of AAMFT, and an approved professional counseling supervisor.
But wait, don’t let the impressive credentials fool you into thinking he’s all business! Beneath the layers of scholarly accolades lies a storyteller extraordinaire, ready to whisk young readers away on amazing adventures. When he’s not decoding the complexities of trauma recovery, he’s crafting tales that unravel the mysteries of bedtime monsters or explore the fantastical realms of a child’s imagination.
His books have won numerous awards, including Selah Awards 2nd place, Feathered Quill Awards finalist, American Fiction Awards finalist, BookFest Awards Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Honorable Mention, Writer's Digest Award Honorable Mention, Children's Book International Award finalist, and Pinnacle Achievement Book Awards Gold Medalist.
In 2018, the LPCA recognized his outstanding contributions with the Linda Painter Service Award and the prestigious John C. Burns Lifetime Achievement Award in Counseling. And in 2021, the Georgia governor tapped him to serve on the Composite Board (Licensing Board) for Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists.
So, whether he’s delving into the depths of trauma recovery or spinning enchanting yarns for the little ones, Dr. David Lane is your go-to for both serious counseling matters and the not-so-serious adventures between the pages of a children’s book.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2018Once again this author encourages the reader to pursue relationship with The Lord through truth that speaks to our hearts. This is not your everyday fill in the blank Bible study. It is a manual for your heart. Each chapter is filled with scripture on the subject then you are encouraged to pray and ask God to speak to your heart about that scripture in your life, mediate on the truth of that scripture, and then finally, apply those truths to our beliefs and everyday walk through even the most painful trials of this life. The examples of Paul’s ability to choose joy while enduring what seems to us, utter adversity is the foundation of the teaching as well as the authors’ own experiences with pain and suffering.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2021If we start with the understanding that we are born into adversity (fallen world), then we need to ask for STRENGTH for the journey. Come along with the Drs. David and Donna Lane. There is only one true strength that comes to me through the Holy Spirit (the Counselor). Jesus is the ONLY source of true strength. Be filled with the Spirit as I am born again.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2018'Strength in Adversity' is a tactical manual in spiritual warfare and I haven't seen its equal. The enemy's only weapon is deception. We are equipped to combat the enemy with truth. The truth of who God is and who He created us to be. We have the authority to choose how we will respond when faced with adversity. The authors expose the enemy's tactics and offer spiritual truths to arm the reader for battle. Jesus is our partner, comforter, and redeemer who is with us in every storm.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019Dr. Lanes’ gift of scriptural analysis and ability to break it down for the reader, and provide practical and generalizable applications to our lives has been such a gift for me. I share her books with everyone I can so they may benefit in their understanding and relationship with Jesus as I have. Thank you for sharing your gift with us ❤️🙏
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2018Dr. Lane's writing always has a penchant for honesty and love, and she continues that trend in her latest work. Don't be off-put by talks of spiritual warfare and being "on guard" for attacks by the evil one; Dr. Lane understands suffering and the nature of trauma better than many and never leads the reader into an exhausting "warfare for warfare's sake" mindset. Rather, she brings an aura of empathy and warmth, because as she says, all adversity "is experienced uniquely by each individual." This book doesn't pull any punches, which I for one find invaluable in today's climate of defensiveness and uncertainty. Equally as valuable are the lessons in the ending chapters, which talk of the Joy of the Lord and the Kingdom Within - a breath of fresh air and comfort!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2019This was a very in-depth, Bible-based study on various forms of adversity - lies we believe, temptations we face, obstacles that block our way, internal and external struggles - and how to use Scripture and Truth to live in peace and without fear despite it all. The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it. Lots of verses to read and apply!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2019This book has been a very helpful part of my current journey. The first chapter really shifted my perspective of my current circumstances and instilled hope where I have struggled with hopelessness. This book is a great reminder of God always being present with us!
