Sugar Cookies and Sirens: Sugar Shack Witch Mysteries Novellas Series, Book 2 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,099 ratings

The witch who can talk to animals meets the witch with a talking cat. What could go wrong?

It's Valentine's Day in Winterspell, but not everyone appears to be feeling the love. And no, I'm not talking about my dateless self.

Instead of being wooed by candlelight, I'm working in a candle shop. Cora Hearth, Winterspell's magical chandler, has teamed up with Sugar Shack to create party favors for the lucky couples, and they're counting on us to spark some magic for their special night.

So, when a thief breaks into my delivery van and swipes the goodies, Cora and I-and her persnickety talking cat-have to join forces to track down the culprit in time to save Valentine's Day.

Great read, short, but entertaining. Ella has mysteries to solve, not only in her hometown of Winterspell but in close by Tacoma and Seattle as well. Gift bags of wonderful Valentine's sugar cookies and awesome candles are stolen. The family rises to the occasion and their bakery works on replacing the cookies while Ella's new friend Cora and Cora's familiar, Selene, the talking cat, search for th the missing goodie bags. Great fun to read and a delightful happy ending. This is number four with four more ready to be read. Highly recommend, as always in order so backstory adds to the enjoyment.

    I really enjoyed this book.
The story was very well written.

I have to admit I had a suspicion of what was going on very early, but still very much enjoyed the way it played out.

The crossover of Cora and Selene was just the icing on the cake...or rather cookie.

Okay, I’m going to start by saying I really like this series, and normally the stories are so great. Unfortunately, this one just irked me.

    Spoilers below:

Ladies, just press charges! That is a HUGE business mess up and honestly, where Ella isn’t the owner of the sugar shack, it bugged me that she made the call to not press charges on the family who didn’t parent their child and not only endangered businesses but lives and livelihoods as well. I know it’s just monkeys singing songs, but seriously. 😒

The ending made my heart happy, though, so it gets a 3.5 rating from me.

    💖 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📚 Genre: Cozy mystery, urban fantasy

    💕 Positives:
    * The mystery was interesting. No murder, but creative in the set up.

    * Loved how Rosella teamed up with Cora and Selene. It's so neat to see characters from a different series, in this series.

    * Sirens exist and they are a bit terrifying when one thinks about it.

    🚫 Negatives: None

    ⚡Trigger Warning: None

🌟 Overall, I loved this novella. The pacing was perfect and I enjoyed the mystery. Cozy mysteries without murders are beyond creative. It's easy to unalive a character, but to craft a mystery without that takes a higher level of creativity.

Loved seeing Rosella with Selene and Cora. It's neat to see two series cross over, especially as I'm currently waiting for the next book in the Selene/9 Lives series to come out. The ending was perfect as well. Definitely starting the next book tonight.
