Summer Fated To Be Mine (The Summer Choice Book 1) Kindle Edition
First Love is Overrated
This summer these two broken souls discover if your second love can make you forget your first
Growing up, the Morelli brothers were close.
Their kinship sinks deeper than the Titanic the summer they both fall for the same girl. Zakiah always felt Iliana Kaplan's heart belonged to him. All along, it has been their story, until fate removed the blindfold.
Everything falls apart when Zakiah realizes Iliana will never give him her whole heart. This time, the middle brother, Elijah, won't be able to repair the damage. A rift is torn amid all of them, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Two years later, when love comes knocking on his door, Zakiah strays from his motto. He can't pretend the connection he feels with Glory Glover isn't real. He just can't afford to fall victim to love again—already learned that lesson the hard way.
Life drops the other shoe. When his dad reveals who his betrothed is, there's no running from what fate has in store. Can your second love make you forget your first? Zakiah must decide if love only exists in fairytales. No matter what choice he makes, it won't be easy to find what's truly his to behold.
What happened in the spring might've made him forget his summertime dreams, but reality rarely has a silver lining.
Recommended for 16+ due to mature themes including sexual content and profanity.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI am reviewing the audio version of this book. The narrator was fantastic. Ryan Pierson’s voice was crystal clear. He was great at switching between the characters and did a great job with the female voices.
If you want to read a story about a toxic love triangle, this is the book for you. Part of the toxicity arises from the triangle being composed of two brothers and a life-long friend. I don’t like love triangles, in fact they kind of make me crazy. It was refreshing that this one was from the point of view of Zakiah, the male not chosen, and that Iliana, the female member of the triangle, was not put on a pedestal. She is not a victim, no matter how she wants to be, and neither is Kallum, the chosen brother.
Right out of the gate Kallum interrupts his brother’s wedding. His objection? He loves Iliana and she loves him. The book goes back and forth between the present and the past to show the passing of time and how slow the progress is for Zakiah to mend his broken heart. It takes meeting Glory, a girl with her own history of a bad relationship, to snap Zakiah out of his heartache.
Things are not smooth sailing. Glory and Zakiah’s happiness is threatened by forces outside of their control. Kallum and Iliana also keep turning up like a bad penny. Their desire to rub it in Zakiah’s face is hard to ignore.
Iliana is still toying with Zakiah’s feelings and cannot tell the truth to save her life. If she’s not telling half-truths she is outright deceiving him. Kallum is even more insufferable. (If that’s possible.) He insists that he has no control over falling in love with Iliana. He loves to say he was shot by Cupid’s arrow—it’s a recurrent theme with him—and that somehow absolves him of responsibility for sabotaging Zakiah’s wedding. He and Iliana have this very insane belief that first love trumps all. In their mind it’s perfectly acceptable to ruin a relationship for the sake of first love.
Iliana’s secrets and manipulation come to light toward the end of the book. I don’t think Zakiah even sees how he’s being played. (We also meet the boys’ dad’s brother and family. They are a different kind of pot-stirring crazy, and probably criminals as well.) The ending is setup for the sequel, and I can’t wait to see how these plot twists turn out. I hope Iliana and Kallum get their comeuppance.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseCan you ever know when love is really real? Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and sometimes...the pool has no water in it.
B Truly has written a lot of easy-to-read, good books. This is another of them.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2025Format: KindleI just finished *Summer Fated to Be Mine* by B. Truly, and wow, what a heartfelt ride! This YA romance hooked me from the start with its raw emotion and relatable characters. The story follows Zakiah Morelli, a guy who’s been burned by his first love, Iliana, and is now grappling with new feelings for Glory Glover. The love triangle between Zakiah, his brother Elijah, and Iliana had me on edge, but it’s Zakiah’s journey toward healing that truly stole my heart.
What I loved most was how real the characters felt. Zakiah’s pain from his past love is so vivid, you can’t help but root for him as he navigates his growing connection with Glory. The way B. Truly captures the messy, complicated feelings of young love is spot-on—anyone who’s ever had their heart broken will see themselves in these pages. The brotherly bond between Zakiah and Elijah adds another layer, showing how love can strain even the tightest family ties. The plot twist with the betrothal had me gasping, and I couldn’t stop turning pages to see what Zakiah would choose.
The writing is smooth and engaging, pulling you into the summer vibe of the story while tackling deeper themes like trust and second chances. It’s not just a romance—it’s a coming-of-age tale that asks if you can ever truly move on from your first love. I found myself smiling, tearing up, and cheering for Zakiah to find his happily-ever-after. If you’re into YA romance with heart, drama, and a touch of fate, this book is a must-read. I’m already looking forward to B. Truly’s next story

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is a mosaic of broken promises, fragile loyalties, and second chances that don’t knock—they whisper. Zakiah Morelli is a beautifully tragic character—gentle in a world that teaches men to armor up. His love for Iliana is all-consuming, and when it doesn’t go the way he planned, you don’t just see him fall—you fall with him. But this isn’t a simple love triangle. It’s a layered, slow-burning story of healing and self-forgiveness. Elijah isn’t the villain; he’s a mirror. And Glory? She’s the unexpected, healing touch of a future Zakiah didn’t think he deserved. What struck me most was how the author didn’t wrap things in romance to make the pain pretty. They let it ache. They let it breathe. And when fate throws in an arranged marriage, the story doesn’t derail—it deepens. It asks: Can you choose love when it no longer feels like a fantasy but a risk? This novel doesn’t beg to be liked—it demands to be felt. It’s vulnerable, messy, and undeniably real. I closed the final page feeling gutted and grateful. Because this isn’t a fairytale. It’s a roadmap through grief and toward something quieter than happiness—peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars loved it
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSome stories entertain, some distract, and then there are the rare few that reach inside you and hold your hurt. This is one of those stories. Zakiah Morelli is written with a raw tenderness I rarely see in male characters—he is soft in all the places the world tells him to be hard. His love for Iliana isn’t perfect, but it’s devastatingly honest. When it begins to slip through his fingers, I didn’t just sympathize—I mourned with him. But this isn’t about romantic tragedy. It’s about the long road back from it. This isn’t a fairytale. It doesn’t give you the illusion of happy endings tied in bows. It gives you silence, breath, healing. The author lets pain linger, lets the reader feel every jagged edge. I closed this book feeling hollowed out and rebuilt. It changed me. Slowly. Quietly. Beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful young adult romance
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is an emotional romance that explores the strength of love, heartbreak, and growing up. The story follows Zakiah Morelli, a boy who grew up close to his brothers—until they all fell for the same girl, Iliana Kaplan. Zakiah believed Iliana’s heart was his, but things change when he realizes she’ll never fully love him back. This painful realisation causes a deep wound between the brothers, especially Zakiah and Elijah, and everything changes after that summer.
Two years later, Zakiah tries to guard his heart, swearing off love. But then he meets Glory Glover. Just as things seem to be falling into place, life throws another twist—Zakiah’s father reveals who he’s meant to marry. Suddenly, Zakiah found himself between following his heart or accepting what fate has planned.
The novel is beautifully written in simple, heartwarming language, which makes it easy to feel connected with the characters and their emotions. The novel has explored complicated themes like trust issues, family tension, and healing from emotional wounds.
This book is perfect for readers who enjoy young adult romance, coming-of-age stories, and emotional love triangles. It shows that first love isn’t always forever, and sometimes, your second love can be even stronger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Written
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book hit me like a confession whispered in the dark. Zakiah’s pain didn’t scream—it simmered, quietly consuming everything he once believed about love, family, and fate. I found myself aching for him, not just because Iliana didn’t choose him, but because he couldn’t let go of the idea that she should have. That illusion—of what we’re owed, of who we’re meant to be with—is something I’ve carried too. Zakiah’s unraveling was raw, but so necessary. Elijah’s role was beautifully tragic—always in the middle, trying to hold together what love was tearing apart. And when Glory appeared, I hoped—truly hoped—that he’d let her in. Their connection wasn’t dramatic; it was sacred. But fate, ever cruel, knocks again with a betrothal neither wanted nor expected. It felt like being offered water only to be told it’s poisoned. Yet somehow, that’s the story’s strength. It doesn’t offer resolution—it offers choice. And that’s more powerful. The final line didn’t feel like an ending. It felt like standing at the edge of the rest of your life. I didn’t expect to find pieces of myself in this story. But I did. And I’ll be thinking about it every time love asks me to be brave.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fate Unraveled
Format: KindleVerified Purchase'Summer Fated to be Mine' is an introspective and thought-provoking narrative of the two brothers who portray the intricated intensity of love, redemption and clash. Set against the backdrop of forgiveness and hope, the storyline shines through the pages of a novel that is both refreshing and heart-wrenching. The protagonist, Zakiah serves as a testament to longings and desires. In addition, his elder brother offers a deep dive into the realms of betrayal against one's desire and interest. The plot hints towards a story that not only appeals, but also offers some space to reflect back.
B. Truly's characters are raw and simple. They not only captivate, but also glue our thoughts. The storyline navigates it's destination in a way that makes this fiction realistic and universal. It signifies the essence of today's world - driven by desire and illusion. The story evidently reflect a common interest of the two brothers, not only their life overturns, but also their fairytale takes it's most profound existence.
'Our emotions for each other spin in tranquility, an army of energy that dances in my soul.' - Zakiah couldn't unite with Iliana. Glory being on his side make the readers unravel the web of their own life, and reflect on their own journey.
It doesn't just resonate, but triggers you. You feel more bothered now, a dark sky overshadows you, and you are drained - but hopeful.
