Surrender: Fated Souls (Eternal Legacies Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,934 ratings

Doughnut in distress. I repeat, there is a doughnut in distress.

Wait...
 Scratch that. Reverse it.

Damsel.
There is a damsel in distress.
Me.

I had one goal, just one teensy-weensy simple goal—to figure out what happened to my dad. All I had to do was head out to his cabin in the woods, look for clues, and figure out how and why he died then go home to the city where I belong.

Except I’m a kindergarten teacher, not a detective.

Of course everything goes wrong, and my first night there I end up with
Liam, Christian, Athos, and Nix refusing to leave my side. They think I might be in danger, but they won’t tell me why. Their eyes hold the secrets of the wild, and who am I to deny their need to keep me safe? Especially when their touch eases something foreign inside of me.

Then I discover my dad was murdered, but no one can figure out why. Not to mention those hotties?
Yeah, they grow fur and want me to
Surrender to them.
  • Surrender is the first book in the Eternal Legacies Series, currently a 15-book saga exploring the intertwined lives of a group of friends and various meddlesome Greek gods and goddesses. Seven of five stars because of donuts.

Seven of five stars because of donuts.
I adore quirky heroines, and carb obsessed Sabina is one of my favorite book girlfriends of this year. Sabina, Bean, to those close to her, is determined to uncover the mystery as to how her father died. She's taken his truck and headed into the Northern Allegheny National Forest to figure it out and tumbled into Lunar Mile, a place off the map, where there are no women, and she shouldn't be able to find. But it has a toilet and donuts so it can't be all that bad--scratch that, the facilities are a petri-dish of ick and someone needs to clean that up stat! I found myself chuckling at this book so much. Bean is outrageous, and her meltdown upon seeing a hot guy turn into a wolf is one of the best I've seen written. Better yet, there is a wacky family of fellow females just waiting to have their books after this series, crossing fingers. But, first, we need to get Christian, Athos, Liam, and Nix to stop fighting fate and start solving the problem at hand. And boy, Elle Lincoln, did I not want to like Christian, you dragged me kicking and screaming, to loving his grouchy, sexy butt! And, now I need more! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.

This book was so dang funny. I was laughing in the dark in my room, instead of falling asleep. Was it the best book I've ever read, no. But it was the funniest book I've read in a long time. Thank you for the laughs. Also, I fell in love and got a book crush on Liam. So flipping adorable.

This was fun. I appreciated the family around and the relatively normal backstory. Still finding out her whole world bordered on lies was logically panic inducing. I hope all the cousins get their series. Well done world and characters. The title is slightly misleading. No one is looking for her to submit. More like come into her own and decide. I wasn’t in the mood for a heroine to submit, or even want to just because some guy is hot. This is not that book. She is strong in her own way and interestingly enough, she is stronger pushing the mate bond and mates away than she is ready to physically stand up for herself. It shows a lot of mental strength which seems to be developing more. Hope to see her come more into her own.

I really enjoyed this book (and the whole series). Bean is a fantastic female main character. In the first book, she is thrown into a new world of lycans and magic. Great supporting characters in her quirky family. And the men are all individual and so hot! While there are fated mates, the story allows their relationships to slowly develop. And the story gets better through the series as Bean grows in confidence and strength and her relationship with the men develop as they face multiple challenges and uncover the mystery as to what happened to her father.

    1 Spice 🌶️

I’ve had this series on my TBR for quite a while, so I finally decided to give it a try and really enjoyed it. I really liked the cast of characters and enjoyed the storyline. The pacing seemed a bit off at times, but the character interactions helped a lot, so you’d forget.

It’s not super spicy which was kind of disappointing and the one scene we get is pretty short, so that was a bit of letdown. This book also felt disjointed at times which kind of made my head spin. I recently read another book like this where in one chapter the characters are in a certain scene and the wham they are in another. The transition between chapters was not smooth. I also really didn’t like how for important details only half the information was provided and none of the characters could finish a thought. I kind of understand what the author was trying to do, but it really did become annoying after the first half a dozen times.

All in all I really did enjoy and plan on continuing the series.

This story is soooo good. It keeps you on your toes and never let’s go. I’m loving it. Adventure, love, sex, wolves and goddesses, all the works. Can’t wait for the next book. It’s one of those times where you don’t mind the story continuing into another book because you just want it to keep going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the read
Reviewed in Australia on May 22, 2021
Not another werewolf story. Firstly the MC is funny and develops her skills throughout. She isn’t just some damsel in distress that falls madly in love in the first few chapters. Her love interests are complex men who are revealed as the story progresses. The story is well developed and thought out with no long diatribes or half developed characters. It does end on a cliff hanger but it adds to the story. I’ll be reading the next book in their series ASAP 🙂

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab read

This is a fab read. Fmc Bean is so snarky and funny and her inner monologue is unbelievably brilliant, loving her mates, loving the mystery behind her father's death and everything surrounding that. I also absolutely love the fact that the FMC doesn't just magically instalove nor does she suddenly forget her grief - the story is interwoven as realistically as possible - in other words she is a bit of an emotional wreck but this is not surprising considering her situation - the author covers this really well - I think her emotional yoyo-ing is as authentic as possible. This is a great read - loving the characters and look forward to book 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars Urban fantasy with a twisty plotline
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 5, 2021
    No plot spoilers

There are a few grammatical errors that irritated but didn't kill the book. The sentence structure took me a while to fully understand, it's quite odd at times especially the first few chapters, it doesn't always make sense but if you can forgive it you should see that it doesn't mean the book is poor and eventually the writing style morphs and becomes normalised. I did connect with the characters, including the supporting characters but will admit that the storyline is slow to progress. The balance between show and tell is heavily weighted in favour of tell, the constant angst from the female lead a direct result of the male characters reluctance to drive forward. Details are few and far between and you leave the book almost as clueless as you are when you start.
That's not to say the book isn't worth the read, the dialogue from the FL is outstanding, I admit I laughed quite a few times.
On balance I believe I will continue with the series.
There are a few sex scenes and plenty of swearing.
