Sweet Home Louisiana (Boys of the Bayou Book 2): (a blue collar hero, second chance, small town rom com) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,976 ratings

The one that got away is home again. And she ain't happy about it. Now this bayou playboy has thirty days to show her that the most important things in life-- like soulmates, family, and the perfect gumbo recipe-- never change.

Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business.

And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.

Owen just has to remember two simple rules: Do not fight with her. Do not kiss her.

Well, those should be simple anyway.

But he can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all.

Still, this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.

Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does
not want to own a swamp boat tour company.

She just wants to paint. In her quiet, alligators-not-allowed,
air-conditioned art studio.

As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s…amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t.

Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.

Holy hot crawfish, I’m sooo in love with this Landry clan! I think they’re my favorite book family ever, and I’m ready to drive down to the Autre, Louisiana, and beg them to adopt me. They’re boisterous, opinionated and interfering, but they love large and always, always have each others' backs. And I don’t know if it's the local climate or the Landry DNA, but they grow their men strong and sexy with breath-taking grins, unwavering loyalty and hearts as big as their beloved bayou. Madison Allain may not share my sentiments, because she left Autre at age sixteen and never looked back.

Maddie is content with her life in California. She's content not thinking about the people she's loved and lost, and she's content not thinking of Autre as home now that she’s made a new life for herself on the opposite side of the country. But since her brother's death, the check she gets every month as part owner of the Boys of the Bayou Swamp Boat Tour Company forces her to think about Autre and all she left behind. Including Owen Landry. But in order to sell her share of the business, the agreement states she has to spend thirty days working in the company, so now she has to deal with everything from back home she put behind her over a decade ago. Especially Owen Landry.

Owen and Maddie burned hot and fast back in high school for a month before she left town. All passion, hormones and reckless abandon, they made each other crazy and had more than their share of impulsive decisions. They’re both adults now, with more maturity and self-control, but embers still smolder, along with the potential for crazy to make a reappearance. And isn’t this a tantalizing setup for an awesome second-chance romance? You know as well as I do, there's no way Owen and Maddie will be able to resist the pull between them. And their second chance is spectacular – touchingly beautiful, laugh-out-loud hilarious, deliciously steamy, poignantly evocative and so, so good!

Gah. I’m so swoony over Owen and Maddie, it’s utterly ridiculous. Nicholas again tops herself with a captivating, hypnotizing storyline that sucked me in and wouldn’t turn me loose. I read this in one sitting, staying up way too late, and absolutely hated to finish the last page. I can't get enough of these characters and wish their story could go on forever. Owen is a laid-back alpha, generally easy going, but he's also a fixer, doing whatever he can to make life easier for those he loves. And his growly, protective side? That’s some shiver-inducing yumminess when it makes an appearance. Maddie has created a polished, professional persona during her years away, but it’s not long before her bayou comes out, and she's not above getting physical to take care of business and protect those she cares about.

As it stands right now, The Boys of the Bayou is my number one series for the year, and I seriously doubt anything will come along and knock it out of that spot. Josh's story was great, but Owen's is even better, and I have high hopes for Sawyer's story in Beauty and the Bayou. These books stand alone, so you can start with Owen's then catch up with Josh's and be ready for Sawyer's book in August. Unless you hate sexy, southern gentlemen, strong, smart women and sweet second chances, you'll absolutely love Owen and Maddie story!

Two Landry men down, one more (and a Landry woman) to go and I’m all in for it!! Boys of the Bayou is proving to be another great series from Erin Nicholas and a definite must read!! I mean, only if you like sexy, sweet stories with strong, loyal and all around amazing characters anyways.

Owen and Maddie had amazing chemistry that jumped off the page from the very first chapter. I loved how, even as we learn about their history together, we also get to see them fall in love with each other as adults. We see Maddie’s need to hold herself back start to fade and as she gets back to being who she’s afraid to be all the while clearly understanding WHY she’s afraid. We also get to see Owen as much more than the laidback playboy we met in the first book.

Still, much like in the first book, my favorite part of this series is watching the whole Landry/Allain family dynamic. Who wouldn’t want to live in Autre with these people?!? And the more we get to know them, the harder I fall and the more excited I get for the next books. Sawyer just might be my favorite but I’m keeping a close eye on Kennedy and who I think (know) will be her love interest. It’s going to be great! I can already feel it!!

*I couldn’t bring myself to give this 5 full stars just because I’m a little bothered by one decision that Owen made that seemed contrary to his character and his relationship with his cousins, even though it didn’t end up being an issue. Also because I’m kind of bothered by the way the men are expected to give off a certain vibe in order to keep their business reviews positive, which I’m kind of hoping changes over the course of the series…perhaps with the help of a certain smart businessman?

SWEET HOME LOUISIANA is a standalone read with a HEA. Lots of really sexy scenes if that is an issue with you. This story takes us back to Autre, La. and the Boys on the Bayou. Owen is one big, sexy, guy with a friendly and wild personality. They have a tour book company and Owen plays up to the ladies promising a good time. He always comes through on his promise. The company is owned by 3 brothers and their best friend. When Tommy is tragically killed, his share of the business goes to his little sister that lives in California and runs an art gallery.

Maddie was raised in Autre and lived on the bayou with her brother Tommy. At 16 she fell in love with Owen and they had a torrid affair for about 6 months. Owen is 6 years older than Maddie but he knows she is the one for him. However, she left for California after her mother was killed in a car wreck and her father went to prison for trying to kill the guy that was driving the car that her mother was riding in. So she has been gone for over 10 years. She decides she wants to sell her share of the business. However before she can do that she has to fulfill several stipulations the original owners came up with to protect the both of them.

This is their story. She returns from California a city girl. The bayou girl is gone until Owen wakes up some very sexy memories of the two of them. It is a really good story with several crazy side characters that keep the story moving in a fun way. A group of college guys cause a lot of problems for them and it sets up the next story in the series. I really enjoyed the story and definitely recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 5/16/19

    I loved the story!
Maddie has come home to Autre, to fulfil her obligation before she can sell her inherited share of Boys Of The Bayou. She'd left twelve years earlier after a tempestuous relationship with the gorgeous Owen. As teenagers they were a hot, but dangerous, pairing. What would they be like now?
Owen has grown to be a caring, loving man, who'd never forgotten Maddie.
The attraction is instantaneous when they meet. It's hot, it's funny and it's loving.
Not only do we have a fabulous story with Maddie and Owen, but we catch up with all the characters we grew to love in My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding.
    Great series!

Maddie is home to sell her share of the business her brother left her when he died. She left the Bayou as a teenager and doesn’t want to go back. A lot happened before she left and she felt out of control there, she feels more in control in California. Part of the reason for this is Owen her first (and only) love.Theirs was a passionate, hot and intense young love. Owen has never really gotten over her and will do anything to make her happy. Maddie’s biggest fear is realised when she goes home, everything feels right there and she is used to not really feeling anything any more. Maddie is smart, talented, hot headed and loving. Owen is strong, loyal and will do anything for the people he cares about. This was a fun, hot passionate thoroughly enjoyable read.
