    I was wondering if we would get to see what happened with Melanie's story, but I actually expected it to be a part of the Ryan Kaine series, where it all began. I would highly recommend reading that series prior to beginning this one. It's not necessary of course, but it will give you a better understanding of the characters, connections, references to certain situations, and the intriguing dynamics between all of these quiet Heroes and Heroine's. They're both absolutely fantastic series, and you certainly won't be disappointed.
    I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

    I am a ," Ryan Kaine ", fan , and when I realized that this book contained a character from that series, I had to get it !
    This book is about Melanie Archer, one of the "83" , that Kaine is trying to help. She has been accused of killing her disabled husband. Kaine and his crew rescued her from a terrible car crash, and put her in protective custody. But Melanie maintains her innocence. Not much Kaine can do but involve DCI Jones.
    DCI Jones does what he does best. Get to the truth. And what a mystery is is !!!
    I enjoyed the rhythm of this book , and the funny , colorful cast of characters of the Nottingham police force .
    Looks like I have another amazing series to read through !!!!

Ryan hands over his assessment to his friend DCI David Jones as to whether she is innocent of the murder of her husband or not. DCI Jones uses an interagency loophole to track down Ms.Archer and also determine if any misconduct was involved. Mr. Donovan does not disappoint in giving a satisfactory conclusion to the Ryan Kaine cliffhanger that, as a fan, left us wanting more.

    This next book in the DCI Jones series is sort of a follow on from Ryan Kaine – On the Wing. It starts after Ryan has “saved” Melanie Archer from prison & people wanting to kill her but is she guilty or innocent of murdering her husband. Ryan asks his friend DCI Jones if he would at least listen to her story. Jones decides there is some merit & then needs to call in some favours to be able to investigate her case. Not the same action-packed stories of Ryan Kaine, but more subtle with an underlying tension, Jones uses his methods to uncover the truth. As always Mr Donovan delivers another great read and as always, I will again wait anxiously for another exciting novel

    I read a lot of Police Procedurals and David Jones is one of my favourite detectives. This is one of the best in a good series. Proper investigation – taking nothing for granted. There is one scene, which I won’t spoil by detailing, which I would love to see in a film or TV drama, as long as the actors had expressive faces. The description of the scene makes it priceless for me and facial reactions would only enhance it.

    Although this can be read as a standalone, it is also the sequel to “Ryan Kaine: On the Wing” and I would suggest reading the two books that way. Also, I would suggest reading “Ryan Kaine On the Run” as it details the reason behind “The 83” which is only briefly described in the later two books.

    I have now read all the David Jones and Ryan Kaine books available to date and can recommend them all.
