About the author

Formerly a PR director, for many years Julie Caplin swanned around Europe taking top food and drink writers on press trips (junkets) sampling the gastronomic delights of various European cities. It was a tough job but someone had to do it.
These trips have provided the inspiration and settings for the best selling Romantic Escapes Series which began with The Little Café in Copenhagen, which was nominated for a Romantic Novel of the Year award. Since then she has set books in countries including Iceland, Japan and Paris. The series has been published in 20 territories from Brazil to Sweden and have become bestsellers in the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy.
The next book in the series A Villa With a View will be published on February 29, 2024 and is set on the glamorous Amalfi Coast. Final edits have just been submitted to the publisher and the gorgeous front cover has just gone up on Amazon.
Julie also writes best selling novels as Jules Wake, which include Covent Garden in the Snow, Notting Hill in the Snow, The Saturday Morning Park Run, From Italy with Love and The Spark.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2023How fun is this book? It is total escape and terribly unlikely, but I enjoyed every conceived moment of it. Julie is a master at mining our life fantasies.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2021Caplin’s books never fail to disappoint. This involves the usual tale of a woman whose life has taken a few bad turns, so decided to travel to Switzerland to visit an old friend and winds up with lots of new friends and a new romance. The characters are like able, the style is breezy, and the author inserts a lot of facts about the country, while describing delicious food and typical adventures. It may not be deep introspective writing or plots but it provides hours of enjoyment. What else do you need?

There are so many delicious sounding foods mentioned in this book that I wish it came with the recipes! This story is upbeat, clean, and positive with lovely descriptions of the area, skiing, and food, food, food!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2021Read exactly half of this book and then stopped. It was boring. Nothing in the chapters enticed me to want to read the next chapter. Save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely captivated and transported
I have now read ALL of these delightful books. I didn't realise there was a series and so didn't read them in order. The enjoyment didn't suffer as a result. I have been captivated by the combination of great authentic writing, believable characters and life issues. Superlative descriptions of locations, culture, vistas, romance and delicious food transported me completely. I'm planning to make the Benediktiner Eintopf!
Real adventures and completely absorbing stories. I was surprised and enchanted by the interweaving of characters and story lines which really adds to the excitement as the stories unfold.
There are moments to laugh out loud and of greater introspection and soul searching poignancy. Escapism at it's very best and brilliant unexpected twists. I have pre - ordered 'Prague' but don't know how I'll survive until then as I have read one after the other - I just couldn't wait for the next adventure and to discover who showed up!
Maybe I'll have to go back to Copenhagen....or find Jules!
Thank you Julie for a wondrous set of adventures in beautiful locations all inviting me to travel, kick back, savour the moment and be grateful for life's blessings and inspirational authors! Right. I'm off to bake a chocolate cake.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buch unvollständig!
