Endarkened Spire: System Misinterpret Book Two - A Post Apocalyptic Cultivation LitRPG Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 648 ratings

*These books are written in first person present.*
Moving to the Wilds! Jeff's new home is on the brink of destruction. A Spire sunken into the ground, that humanity knows naught of.

Jeff's original dream of escape, living between cities and the Wilds as a Hunter, has come true. Of course, in that fantasy, he had Alrick by his side and these Hunters are definitely not him. They might actually be closer to his childhood tormentors, Leah, and her Mercenaries.

In pursuit of a way to continue to grow the Training Room and himself, conflict festers between his goblin friends Mur and Tet and his fellow humans. Still, is Hunting with his
monsters out of the question? Surely his understanding of Dungeons and their strategies means he can at least try…

Little does he know that it’s his lack of knowledge that will endanger everyone and lead him to the Spire.

All right. Where do I start?

Honestly, it’s strange looking back at how you got somewhere the further away from it you get.

I grew up an athlete who wanted to read sometimes more than I wanted to compete. I wanted to be on some magical battlefield fighting off evil, instead of just the ugly opponent I also wanted to beat. If anything, this environment allowed me some unique creativity when it came to competition.

It’s probably accurate to say I took sports as far as I physically and mentally could, attempting to represent Canada and compete in the Olympics. It might not have happened but that isn’t because I didn’t work hard enough to get the stats I needed.

When sports ended I went back to school and took Electrical Engineering, it was during my final year there that my passion for reading and long desire to write finally manifested. I started my first story Equalize on RoyalRoad and fell ‘ass-backward’ into the world of being an author.

Now, two years after taking writing full-time, I have three series to my name, and all of them have been best sellers. What a world we live in?!

Give any of them a read ;)

Existing character growth, new characters introduced, and world building. These are the three main things I take away from this book.

The author has shown us so much more of the underlying aspects of this world and, let me tell you, it is well-planned and thought out. We are starting to see the politics of the world develop as the mechanics of it all are starting to be revealed.

That background gives us a stage upon which personalities grow and relationships expand. That is the true mastery of this work as we see some things build while others change. Our MC is growing in power and friendship as well as other ways. Yet he still holds onto some of his innocence which is heartwarming.

This is a world that is still being revealed to us and one decidedly worth reading about.

The book was good. It did have a little profanity though. Also I can't help but feel like the book was just getting good when it stopped.

Also I sure would have enjoyed the story of Caz evolving and understanding what the Basement Tribe was doing when they were spotted again in the Atrium. The story just stopped and jumped forward for no good reason that I can see. Not with all the detail it had gone into before that point. I was left feeling that another few weeks of writing should have been done so the ending of the story would make more sense.

The progression LitRPG is solid, MC continues getting stronger. Story allows team building with them getting their own unique progressions. The tied together multidungeon system that all follow the same rules isn't fully revealed, but is very clever & satisfying. The background world building, and its slow reveal is also a lot of fun... interesting enough I've gone searching to see if it was a previous series :) AFAIK, it's not, but it's detailed and engaging enough that it could be.

It started kinda slow but things really start to heat up as the story progresses. The story moves in an interesting direction with more knowledge on the world and the cultivation system. I like the MC, he can be a little winning and very unsure of himself, but that get less as he grows. It’s good to see the MC grow and not just poof be op. Thank you Ryan for a fun take on cultivation/ apocalypse story. Readers enjoy because I can tell more is yet to come.

Every time there is a new spin on the old post apocalypse LitRPG done well I am very happy. This one sort of mixes cultivation and class to a little extent. I hate cliffhangers, especially if the next book isn't out yet. I can't wait for it. The goofy cover images are not doing the book many favours though.

Ryan DeBruyn has given us a cultivation journey of struggle and discovery that kept me interested the whole way. Looking forward to the next book. The character of each of the cast makes me care for some and even hate the villains. The world is rich and this book added so much by building from the first. Or should I say delving.

I highly recommend for fans of cultivation and progression and LitRPG.

I did enjoy this book even if it felt like it dragged in places. To be honest the first one was a bit more exciting. The cultivation system has a way of being similar to many eastern concepts but given a very western edge. I think that part was done nicely. As an aspiring author myself I wouldn't mind reading the notes on that concept.

I really like Ryan's work throughout the different series. But System Misinterpret is a special series for me.

Don't know why, but the kind of "late to the game" approach of the post-apocalyptic story and the diverse team really entertains me and is a relatively uncharted approach to the genre.

Another great story with enough twists and turns and just the right skips to keep the story interesting and not make it boring. Really waiting for the next book.

This is a very unique science fiction/fantasy novel. I haven’t heard of “cultivation” as a sub genre of LitRPG previously, but it is an interesting concept. As with all of Debruyn’s books, the supporting characters are enhance the read.

Picked this book up on a whim, and although I am usually not a fan of cultivator books, this one is a cut above the rest.

Characters are fleshing out, plot is moving along nicely

When authors develop books in a new direction the series can often loose its focus. This book introduces growth for the characters without loosing the story and is a great instalment in the series
