The Brooklyn Drop (Fina Fitzgibbons Brooklyn Mystery Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 359 ratings

In the middle of a wintry night, private investigator Fina Fitzgibbons finds Lorraine’s friend, Phyllida Oxley, slumped over her dining room table, the victim of memory-impairing date rape drugs. When her condition goes from poor to comatose, her distraught fifteen-year-old granddaughter, Kat Oxley disappears. Meanwhile, Fina’s agency is busy surveilling a massage parlor in Bensonhurst suspected of human trafficking, and Fina’s father reappears to throw a wrench into her relationship with NYPD Patrol Officer Denny McDuffy. As Fina frantically searches for the missing teen, she uncovers the truth behind the traffickers, but they have a surprise waiting for her in the not-so-friendly skies.

From the Author

About FinaFina Fitzgibbons is a private investigator who lives with her boyfriend, Denny, in the Vinegar Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. She mourns the recent death of her mother, sometimes with an overwhelming ache. And she hasn't forgiven her father for leaving when Fina was a child. No wonder, then, that she fears loving and losing. She's not perfect, not by a long shot. Sometimes she takes Denny for granted; sometimes she's jealous of Detective First Grade Jane Templeton; sometimes she makes snap judgments. But she's smart and gingery--just like the color of her hair--and she's got that wizard thing going on. And something else about Fina--she never, ever gives up.

Putting it down. Phyllis Oxley does in her hospital room. Gina has a hard time convincing people the woman was murdered. If you add to the mix a missing father turning up and romance.problems with Denny you have a stage set for some heavy duty drama. Il recommend this book to anyone !looking for a good read.

This is a vividly described, edge-of-your-seat, mystery by a very talented author. The protagonist, Fina Fitzgibbons is a perfectly played, private investigator in a fast-moving plot that kept this reader totally engaged from beginning to end. Author, Susan Russo Anderson’s description of Brooklyn and her multi-cast of characters, (some from previous books) never disappoints and sets you exactly where she wants you: right in the middle of a complex and taut mystery from the first page and all the way through to the very end. To me, a good storyline never lets up with both dialogue and action, and The Brooklyn Drop does just that, effortlessly. An accomplished storyteller, Susan, weaves you through a tale of treachery, murder, deception, and plenty of action: a seamless combination that makes for a perfect, well-written mystery.

I enjoy the dispute between cop Jane & Fina and I wonder if they will ever become friends? The relationship between Fina & Denny is so like every day life. I enjoy quick reads like this.

This is the third book I've read in this series and I plan to read them all. Each one is beautifully written, perfectly edited (which matters to me) with well-developed believable characters, realistic dialogue, and also the atmosphere of Brooklyn which puts the reader right in the story. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys clean (no offensive language, no graphic sex) exciting detective stories. I suggest they be read in order.

The reason for only four stars is because a couple of times in the story I had to go back and reread a page or two to find out where the author had gone with the story. The author had changed characters without being clear who was speaking in the next paragraph.

Brilliant. Love this series of books and can't wait for more. Definitely what I call a 'one more chapter' book. Always sorry when I come to the end.
