Poisoned on the Moor: A British private detective mystery (The Yorkshire detective mystery series Book 7) Kindle Edition
Henry Ward is happily enjoying the spring sun with his trusted wire fox terrier Tessa when resource-strapped West Yorkshire Police call on him to help with a bizarre case.
A garden party has just turned to tragedy, with three guests dead and one hospitalised. It looks like cyanide poisoning.
Clearly not simply a case of undercooked sausages on the barbecue, alongside a short-tempered DS Ellie Hargreaves, Henry interviews the survivors. But the group of close friends appears determined to keep secrets from the police, and one another.
Soon the case attracts media attention, meaning Henry’s old rival, Superintendent Samuel Murphy, is even more impatient than usual to get quick results. A clash is inevitable.
Regardless, just as they seem to be getting close to some answers, Henry is dragged into a press scandal and has to swallow a bitter pill from the past.
Will Henry get the break he needs to crack the case, settle his scores, and prove to Murphy he’s still the better cop?

About the author

Ric Brady is an author, playwright, and interactive fiction writer. His debut novel ‘Murder on a Yorkshire Moor’ was published by the Book Folks in 2023.
He grew up near the misty moors of Brontë country and started reading crime fiction when he was young, borrowing second-hand novels written by Ian Rankin, John Grisham, and Dean Koontz.
He writes thrillers and crime fiction that have a dose of dark humour, and his stories are based in the north of England despite him living in France. He frequently returns to the UK to soak up the atmosphere, buy boxes of Yorkshire tea, and come up with ideas for future novels.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2025Somehow several attendees of a dinner party, including the hostess, end up dead, with one who became ill surviving; the autopsies reveal a cause of death for all except the hostess.
The mystery only deepens as more questions are asked and answered about and among the attendees and survivors.
Plus, poor Henry; the last sentence! He slept through the event!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series, looking forward to more!
Well written, good read, although the author could have taken a few more pages in the end to uncover everything. Have read all books of this series and
I’m looking forward to hear more of Henry Wards adventures. The story about the retired police inspector is set in Yorkshire, very nice scenery. Would also love to hear more about his children/family. Can recommend wholeheartedly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Another good read from Ric Brady, I can’t wait for the next instalment and can only hope that Murphy doesn’t go back on his word about joining the cold case team.
