A new author for me. I decided to try this book when it came up as a freebie in an email and I wasn't disappointed at all. Lilah was made redundant from her job and is tries to find another. She has her younger sister sharing the apartment who is at med school. They hear the local homeless dog yelping as they realise it's been run over. As Lilah goes to the car that ran it over, scar on her head starts to hurt and a voice is in her head. From here starts an unconventional courting of Gavin, a secret shifter and moving the rhythm of The Beat, a thump thump thump of the legends when they find the one and Lilah's refusal to get involved because of her contracts with the club and her job. Will she run when she finds out what he really is? Will the romance be dead once his brother, Asher gets involved? A great read and I can't wait to read the next book

    Lilah finds herself with a college degree and unable to find a job in her vocation. Things go from bad to worse when her temp job ends and she has no way to support her sister or her mother. When she is offered a job at the Platinum Club she can’t say no and hopes that this opportunity will help her family get back on their feet.

    Gavin is a billionaire CEO who is also a wolf shifter. While travelling in his limo with his driver through Lila’s neighborhood a near accident with a puppy almost occurs. When Lilah’s eyes meet he feels the age old beat, but she is gone before he can find out who she is.

    The next time they meet is when he is at the club where she is now working. Between the Club’s strict non-fraternization rule and Gavin’s secret life as a shifter as well as the other obstacles they must face will they prove that the beat can overcome all or are there too many strikes against them?

    This is the first book I've read by this author and I absolutely loved it. Lilah and Gavin found each other in a very unique way. The pull they felt towards each other was immense and completely overwhelmed them. The author did an excellent job of weaving their attraction towards each other with a storyline that made sense but still left enough questions so the reader would want to read the next book in the series. Very well done. And the descriptive scenes between the two main characters didn't hurt either! Chemistry at its best.

    I received an ARC for an honest review. This was a great story! A really different kind of shifter story. Gavin, a billionaire in his own right is from a billionaire family of shifters. He's been told about the Beat. How he will feel it, lose all sense of control and needs to shift once he encounters The One who is his mate and mates with her. I don't think he really believed it until it actually happened to him. He sifted in broad daylight in the limo and jumped into the street where anyone could have seen, ripped his clothing, kind of forgetting normal protocol. Luckily, his driver didn't. He gathered Gavin back to the car and they left the area and were 'off to the club, sir'. Lilah, the girl Gavin focused on was a human, unemployed as of that day, no money for food or bills, and mom needed surgery. When she and her sister heard the local stray dog, Smoky, cry out as though he'd been hurt, Lilah ran outside and saw this huge limo with the dog beneath it. She picked up Smoky, ready to yell at the car's occupant, when her temple scar began throbbing and all she could see was a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes. She heard, "You're real", as the car squealed away. Lol ah couldn't concentrate, neither could Gavin. Next day Lilah gets a call to report for a job at an exclusive club where the pay is higher than she's ever made! No fraternizing with the members or she'd be fired! Guess who's a member? Gavin! Their pull is extreme, what to do? He can't make her lose her job!!! Many more obstacles in the way of this couple, from his family's s point of view ( or at least some), she's human! And they aren't.Gavin tries running away. Will that work?? What do you think? Gavin has to tell her, right? How's that going to go? This book is ostensibly about Gavin Stanton, but there are 4 more Stanton siblings. The book does a good job of setting them up for their stories too. Enjoy!!

    Lilah is trying to take care of her sister but they don't have much, then she loses her job. The bills are piling up and she's not sure what they're going to do. That's when she gets a call from someone offering her a job that pays more than she can believe. Of course she's skeptical but she goes in for an interview and gets the job being a server in an exclusive club.

    Lilah meets Gavin at the club after a short introduction on the street and he can barely control himself because he knows she's his mate but he can hardly believe it. Gavin really needed to slow down and get to know her before getting intimate with her and overwhelming her the way he did. I know this is a fated mates story and she was definitely feeling some of the same things he was but it seemed like things were moving too fast for the relationship they had.

    The fact that he doesn't tell her that he's a wolf shifter for such a long time and his brother, the alpha thinks he's making a mistake trying to have a human as a mate only makes things more complicated. The first half of the book was a little slow but the second half of the book was better plus there's a big twist towards the end that I'm glad I stuck around for.

    Well this was a bit different but a good story about shifters, packs and the secrets of family. Gavin Stanton comes from a long line of shifter families, and is also part of a influential and rich family which dates back to aristocracy, all of which they keep to themselves and maintain their secret, protecting themselves and shifters alike. Lilah Murphy just needs a break, she needs a job so she can help her sister, her mother and keep a roof over her head but something changes the moment she lays eyes on Gavin, she hears the beat, and knows it’s Him. Will the differences between them keep them apart or will fate get what she wants??
    Loved the story, plot, characters. I found the Stanton brood a good mixture of personalities, giving way to lots of angst and also banter between the siblings. This read has plenty of sex, which was hot and also loving, so don’t expect PG rated. Overall a great read, and the snippet from book 2 will keep you wanting to continue this series.

    This is the debut novel for Diana Seere. As an avid fan of shifter romances I looked forward to reading about this new take on the genre. Here we have a couple from different sides of the track: a human struggling for money and a wolf shifter billionaire and member of an extremely exclusive club of wealthy shifters. They are drawn together by 'the beat' and only by being close can they control the pain and their bodies. I really enjoyed the book and tore through it in a single sitting. The only thing I would say is that I wish there had been a bit more of a build up of danger and more of a development of the relationship between Lilah and her sister. That said, I can't wait to read the next book and fine out if/ how Jess and Derry get together!
