Fascinating world building
The book was very long, but the culture and world created were very unusual and well thought out. The underlying basis is Russian, but with a matriarchal social structure. The pact with the land was an interesting touch, too. Valuable was an engaging, if occasionally overbearing heroine.

A drawn out book that initially began with promise but soon devolved into pages of unrelenting boredom. Numerous pages of meandering nothingness and undeveloped characters that (this reader) are found to more annoying than insightful or “courageous “.
