Defeat (Book 2 of the Sutton series): A Friends With Benefits Romance Kindle Edition
They may seem like they’ve got nothing in common, but the tiniest sparks make the biggest flames.
Delaney Lewis is desperate for her freedom. From her controlling mother and the man she left standing at the altar.
Her best friend is more than happy to help her escape and sets Delaney up at her soon to be brother-in-law’s house while he’s out of town, confident that when David comes home—he’ll do whatever it takes to keep Delaney safe from her crazy family.
David Sutton finds the surprise of a lifetime when he discovers a woman sleeping soundly in his bed. When she explains how she ended up there, David’s heart and mind slowly open, leading to a permanent place to stay, a job, and best of all, a new outlook.
The woman who was much like a stranger before, slowly becomes his friend…with a few intimate perks and before they know it, real sparks start to fly.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2024Evelyn Sola never disappoints with a good romance. She writes her characters with such great wit and her plot is not predictable. David and Delaney are perfect for each other. While Delaney may be faced with such an insurmountable betrayal, she remains a fighter and learns how strong she really is. David the ultimate man-whore until he finds his match, and his protective instincts go into over-drive. Putting these two together makes for a fun, sexy and exciting read.
You will be more than satisfied, from start to finish.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2024The story was really good. I enjoy it. And my favorite character is David. He’s a good brother and very hilarious. The story was great. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like with Delaney and her situation with her family that she keep on repeating her self over and over again of what happened to her in the situation her family Mitch. I feel like as a reader I already know what happened already. Let’s move onto a different situation or something else.
Also, she shouldn’t hold a garage on her father too much. I understand that she don’t trust him and he doesn’t know her that much but at least he’s trying to start over on the relationship that was broken. I understand he’s not perfect, but at least unlike the mother and brother he’s trying and doing his very best as a man to fix his mistakes and make things right.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025I’m normally not a fan of first person writing, but this was very good and very well executed. So far I have really enjoyed this series. The love scenes are steamy sometimes it’s a bit repetitive but all in all this is a great story. I look forward to the others.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2024So imagine you come home from a business trip and there’s a beautiful woman sleeping your bed with your cat. This is a found family, friends to lovers, sort of forced proximity romance. The story is full of wonderful twist and turns but David was devoted to Delaney from word one without even realizing it. Watching them fall in love was funny and very sexy. He was so protective of her and their friendship blossomed right along with their love. Delaney is the best friend and roommate of the FMC in Downfall - Book 1 of the series, and David is the brother of the MMC. So I had a chance to fall in love with them as individuals before falling for them as a couple.
Evelyn Solo is quickly becoming one of my automatic read authors. You will enjoy both books in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2025I liked the characters, but the book was too long. It could have ended at Chapter 30. If David loved her so much, he could have said it way before Chapter 50 something.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2025Delaney and David make a cute cupple. Delaney's family was the worst. Like get over yourselves. Mitch was a waste of space. Dodged a bullet there. The banter is so funny between everyone. Great pallet cleanser
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2023Book two of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒏 series by Evelyn Sola is more of an age gap story from my perspective rather than a friends with benefits romance. David and Delaney aren’t friends. David is Maxwell’s brother and Delaney is Summer’s best friend. Delaney is about to marry a man she doesn’t love. Summer had tried to talk her out of it, especially seeing how Mitch treats Delaney. Delaney becomes a runaway bride and her friends hide her away at David’s house. Bachelor for life David Delaney doesn’t plan to in a relationship anyone. David’s need to protect Delaney from her family will draw them together surprising all close to them. I found this to be a good read and was glad that Delaney held her ground against her family and Mitch. I do plan to read book three; however, from reading the synopsis I can’t see who would cause trouble for Maxwell and Summer. I had hope something would have happened between Jade and Caleb.

Ms. Evelyn Sola did not come to play! Defeat is a fantastic read and one you will not be putting down. From the get-go, I was emotionally connecting with the characters, and let's not talk about the angst because it's gripping. I highly recommend you download this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars book 2 equally as good as book 1
Love the way this author writes. You feel invested in the characters and laugh at their antics. The cat drama is hilarious. Can’t wait to read about Caleb and Jade, and I love how the relationships are formed without it appearing far fetched. A well deserved 5*.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love stories about family!
I love reading books that include the couple’s family and extended family and friends. The couple, David and Delaney had some severe trials with Delaney’s family, specifically her controlling and bullying mother. A mother who basically tried to sell her daughter into a marriage with a man she abhorred.
I loved David’s character. I once read that former rakes ( or his his case, slut- 😂) make the best husbands . He was. He loved, protected and provided for his friend who became his wife. It was great reading about Max and Summer and the rest of the family. Love the Sutton family and their friends.
I hope Caleb gets his happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars A feel good romance
I loved this book and the characters in it. This was heartwarming and especially loved the male lead. There is plenty of quirks in this and the story unfolds in a beautiful way. Jump in, you won’t regret it!
