The Life of Anna, Tenth Anniversary Edition: Act 2 Kindle Edition
One man's quest for ultimate power. One woman's shattered existence. A love that refuses to die.
Anna's world has crumbled into ruins, with Devin standing triumphant atop the rubble. Everything she once cared about has been razed, demolished by her Master's relentless pursuit of power. As Devin's power grows, the last pillars of Anna's autonomy come crashing down. She is reduced to a mere extension of his will, a hollow vessel for his ambitions. Under Devin's absolute dominion, the Anna who once dreamed of love and freedom fades into oblivion.
But in the darkest corners of Anna's shattered existence, a flicker of love remains, though she believes Alex to be dead. Unbeknownst to her, Alex lives, held captive yet unwavering in his love for Anna. In the face of Devin's overwhelming evil, this hidden spark of devotion silently defies his tyranny.
Devin's ultimate goals stretch far beyond the ruins of Anna herself. His power, deeply entwined with what he extracts from her, propels him to new heights of manipulation and cruelty. As his influence expands, the stakes rise not just for what remains of Anna, but for all those caught in his growing empire of power.
In this harrowing conclusion, the full extent of Devin's terrifying ambition is revealed. As his endgame unfolds, the true cost of ultimate power hangs in the balance, challenging the very essence of free will and humanity in a final, desperate clash between love and unrelenting evil.

A NOTE ABOUT THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
For the past ten years, The Life of Anna has set the standard for Dark Fiction in many reader’s minds.
There are times when you will question your sanity, question reality, and question the value of continuing reading. You will love it, or you will hate it. There is no in between.
Originally published in five parts, this new Ten-Year Anniversary Edition has been revised, re-edited and restored to its original format of one (very long) story, although split into two Acts for publishing purposes. New scenes have been added as well.
Be warned, this is a hard book to read. While Anna’s story is not categorized as a romance, it does contain romantic elements. It is Anna’s story, told in all its bloody, violent, beautiful, twisted truth.

About the author

Author of Gut-Wrenching Darkness
"If Stephen King got together with Tom Clancy and wrote an erotica book...,"
...is how Marissa describes her books when asked. She doesn't seek to write any particular genre, style, or length, only following her gut instincts and the lead of her characters. The Life of Anna crosses many genre lines including erotica, suspense, psychological thriller, horror, political conspiracy, paranormal, and romance. Marissa's story of Anna began with a dream about being kidnapped with Adam Savage from Mythbusters (Yes, really). Over the next year and a half, it morphed into the story that is now known as "The Life of Anna." She has also published Distorted Hope, which is based on her kidnapped dream. Abandoned Grace was published last year as a side story to The Life of Anna.
Marissa stays busy running her household, fending off two adorable kittens, and interacting with her readers on social media. She is a self-proclaimed geek and is striving to learn the basics of graphic design. She is also actively pursuing a more natural lifestyle, which includes essential oils, natural cleaning products, and whole, organic foods. Marissa's addictions include the Science and History Channels, anything chocolate mint, vintage books, cute kitty cats and laughter.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2024Anna’s story was like the most gut wrenching and tragic story I have ever read. The emotions I felt during this second act were a run of the spectrum of human emotion. As a domestic violence survivor, I can attest that while there are no immortals around, one person can endure so much.
This is a story of survival and resilience. Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2024Pay attention to the trigger warnings. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️
This book will gut you. It's easier to say what triggers aren't in this book than to try to list them here, but the list exists--and with good reason. I don't consider myself a squishy person, but there are scenes in this epic tale that gave me nightmares. Yet by the finale of Act 2, I was glad I heard Anna's tale. I don't think it's a spoiler to say this, but I'll put it below, so you can choose not to read it if you don't like even mild/general spoilers.
There are also some eerie elements that made me compare with reality and wonder.
The updates from the original release clear up some lingering questions and tighten up the writing, leaving the story not only intact, but improved. Don't let having read the original stop you from enjoying the 10th Anniversary edition!
And here's the spoiler-ish comment...

The only thing that kept me reading was knowing that there's a happy ending. The ride to get there was crazy hella wild, but so worth it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2024After the final events of Act 1, I wasn’t sure what to expect in Act 2. Years pass and there are so many changes in the characters. The events in the world have also changed and there is a glimmer of hope on several fronts. I am so invested in these characters now, I have hopes and dreams for many of them. I loved seeing Anna grow into her power, learning to control it, and finally having the freedom to make her own choices. It’ll take me a while to process Anna’s life but I do want to read Devin’s story too.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2024This is a long read but never a boring moment. This book was a horrible, sad, and depraved love story. Many twists and turns. It is wildly entertaining. This was my first book by this author and let me say how she imagined the characters were truly awe inspiring! The characters have rich textured qualities. I instantly fell in love with all. This book is a must to experience. It grabs you by the heart and thrusts you deep in emotions you won't see coming. I laughed, cried, and I cringed at the sheer brutality of Anna's life. I love this book and am looking forward to reading others by this author!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2024This book was dark and super messed up but beautiful. Some other reviews said they felt like Anna didn’t have a backbone but if you truly understand abusive manipulation, her character was a true portrayal of someone who spent all her years being manipulated and abused. Great story. Couldn’t put it down. 5 starts for sure!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2024I did not think I could love Life of Anna anymore that I already did. I was WRONG. This revised edition did things to me I can’t describe. I didn’t think it could get any better and again I was wrong. If you’ve read the original and loved it please read the revised edition you will fall deeper in love with Anna, Alex and their friends. You will hate Devin even more than you thought possible. It was absolutely amazing. Thank you Marissa Honeycutt, it was another amazing read
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2024Take the trigger warnings very seriously. I don’t know how it’s possible but this one seems darker than the first. I hated Anna at the beginning, but I loved the ending. Anna and Alex deserve to be together and I’m so glad they finally got their happy ending. Very long read, but I loved everything. Anna is free, and is finally getting her happy ending. I’m so glad that Devin got the punishment he deserved after everything he put Anna and Alex through. I don’t want to spoil the book too much. I loved this book, and will be ordering the physical copy soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2025I had heard both really great and really awful things about these books and so I decided to give him a try when it was just a two book series. I can deal with a lot of stuff in these books and I’m not leaving a bad review because it’s too dark or it’s too extreme and there are some spoilers had to be aware. I’m giving this book one star because she had every opportunity to allow Anna to become who she was meant to be and she didn’t. You’re basically at the end of the book and the man she’s supposed to love and who was supposed to love her is still making her treat him like a master. This series would’ve been great if she had found her power but when she started standing up herself, it just caused her extreme pain and she reverted to being the weak woman she had always been. There wasevery opportunity for her to be strong and the author chose to keep her a slave. That’s not love.
