The Nordic Heart Series Books 1-4: An Epic True Love Story Kindle Edition
Finland, 1980. Kaisa has never been a risk-taker. After graduation, she plans to marry the dependable older man who paid for her classes and kept a roof over her head. But when she accepts an invitation to a party at the British Embassy, a handsome naval officer makes her want to throw caution to the wind. She surprises herself when they share a passionate kiss under the stars and promise to see each other again. But how could she possibly give up her sure-thing relationship for a man she barely knows?
When Peter Williams pictured his future, he saw a rising in the ranks and an endless trip around the world. Though when he meets the strong-willed Kaisa in Helsinki, his passion for the sea takes a serious turn. Not even the excitement of hunting down Russian submarines can compare to the thrill of his lips on hers. But despite his growing feelings, his commanding officers won’t tolerate him pursuing a woman from a Soviet-friendly nation. Can their love go the distance?
The Nordic Heart Box Set includes Books 1,2,3 and 4 in this true love story series with over 700 pages of unputdownable fiction.

Enter rich, charming and clever Duncan, who seems to have all the answers to Kaisa’s problems. Can Kaisa resist his advances?

About the author

I write Nordic love stories inspired by real life. I was born in Finland and moved to the UK in my twenties after falling for a British naval officer I met at the British Embassy in Helsinki. We wrote letters for four years—him at sea during the Falklands War, me at university—and our long-distance romance became the inspiration for my first novel, The English Heart, which later grew into the Nordic Heart series.
I’ve always been passionate about books. As a teenager in Stockholm, I devoured every novel I could get my hands on (often before my parents had a chance!). That love of reading led me to writing, and eventually to publishing fiction in 2012 after earning an MA in Creative Writing.
Now I write full-time, drawing on my Nordic roots, love of dramatic landscapes, and belief that stories have the power to connect us. My latest novel, To Melt a Frozen Heart, is an enemies-to-lovers romance set in Lapland, where the Northern Lights blaze and love blossoms against the odds.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2018I have read all the books in the Nordic Heart series individually, and am glad to see it is now offered as a box set. It is worth reading these in order, as part of the enjoyment of these books is to track the evolution of the complex relationship of Kaisa and Peter. Kaisa particularly changes from the rather self-absorbed immature young lady in the first book to a thoughtful woman in the final book who has matured considerably through the problems in her turbulent marriage and the tragedies she faces. I also loved learning more about Finland and its culture - so much so that much of my current reading is exploring a number of Finnish writers. This set is definitely worth buying.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2018I've really enjoyed reading these. The books all give a great look into Finnish culture that I especially enjoyed. It's always interesting to me to read fiction set in countries outside of the US. There are all those subtle cultural tidbits woven in.
The stories are all well paced with steady plots. I've enjoyed following along with Kaisa and Peter and am sorry to see their story end!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2018A saga of coming of age, loving, losing and regaining. Set in dual Finnish and England locations this set tells the story of a Finnish graduate student and a British naval officer who fall in live, lose and then regain their love. A sweeping story told over a number of years in an understated but enchanting style.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2018Made me think of all the ways we fall in love and adjust to our surroundings. An interesting book full of culture insights and explorations. I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2018I really enjoyed this box set. This is the first I have read of Ms. Nephew's books. They are deeply romantic, yet realistic in their outlook on life. Kaisa, the main character, is very sympathetic. I found myself hoping she would come through her problems all right. The set is a continuing story of Maida and her husband Peter. I was hooked into the plot right away and enjoyed the characters and the story. I will look forward to reading more of Ms. Nephew's novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nordic romance in a Cold War setting
I read the first two books in this series under their original titles - The Englishman series. Renamed and with attractive new covers, I ordered the rest as a box set. The series charts the lives of two characters - Finnish Kaisa and English Peter, and explores their developing relationship. Despite being engaged to another man, Kaisa feels an instant and powerful attraction to the young Naval officer and eventually follows him to the UK. Over the four books, their subsequent marriage, separation and various emotional trials are laid out and I was left wondering whether or not there would be a happy ending. I was initally frustrated with Kaisa's immature behaviour - after all, she was passionately in love with Peter - but you have to take into account that she was the product of a broken marriage, had a difficult relationship with her father, and her first fiance, whom she met when very young, was controlling and possessive. So no great male role models in her life. Added to which, she moved to a foreign country to be with Peter where she was viewed with suspicion by the Navy as Finland was considered a close ally of the Soviet Union, Peter was away often for long stretches at sea and Kaisa's Finnish degree was considered worthless in the UK. As the series progresses, Peter and Kaisa struggle to overcome all the problems that life throws at them. I became more sympathetic to Kaisa's plight, after all, it seemed that she had made the greater sacrifice in giving up her life in her home country for the man she loved. Without giving too much of the plot away, the ending in final book had a twist that I didn't see coming. Heartbreaking indeed.
I enjoyed reading in detail about Finland, a country I know very little about - unless you count the Moomintroll books I loved as a child! The author, Helena Halme is Finnish and her description of this country and Sweden are interesting and informative. She fills the book with little references to the 80s, when the story is set - in fashion, music and news. All in all a very enjoyable read - different to much of the 'chick lit' that is out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love and forgiveness
When starting the series I became quite frustrated with Kaisa and felt she needed a good shaking. As the story developed I became more sympathetic to her and kept hoping all would end well. Kaisa developed a strength of character for so young a person that eventually helped her relationship with her husband, Peter. An incredible story of love and forgiveness.
