Tristan The Tristan Trilogy: A Gay Arranged Marriage Romance Kindle Edition
An alliance forged through marriage. The cost? One Man’s dream.
Tristan dreams of the day he’ll succeed his father as the next Warlord of Markaytia. Elves—creatures famous for their darker passions—approach the Markaytian king with an offer he can’t refuse: an alliance with the Elves for the one Tristan Kanes.
Tristan is forced to give up his dream.
He’s not thrilled, but Tristan is a man of duty above all else. What choice does he have? He cannot refuse the king or Markaytia. He begrudgingly comes to terms with the arranged marriage. Is he a tad sour about it? Yes, but he’ll get over it.
Probably.
Maybe it won’t be so bad. Elves have cool weapons, maybe he’ll get one?
Corrik bans him from cool weapons.
Corrik’s seen Tristan’s gruesome death on the point of a sword in a prophetic vision. He bans Tristan from picking up a sword ever again. Tristan wants to accept the marriage with grace to make his people proud, but he resents Corrik for his remorseless attitude over his life’s work.
Facing the Ice Prince and himself.
Tristan’s conflict follows him on the journey to the mysterious Elven land of Mortouge. He hates Corrik for taking him from the life he loved, boy does he, but his new Elven husband is an enigma and he’s captivated. He sets Tristan’s blood on fire and freezes it at the same time. Corrik unravels Tristan’s true nature and despite his best efforts, Tristan falls for his ice prince.
But Corrik won’t bend.
Corrik wants to be obeyed. He’s demanding and possessive. He’s overbearingly protective.
Can these two find a suitable compromise? Or will Tristan’s resentment and Corrik’s arrogance ruin forever their chance at love?
Tristan by Mock (S. Legend) is a gay romance fantasy featuring enemies to lovers vibes, an age gap, arranged marriage, first times, and a happy ending (um, eventually). This is the first action-adventure romance in the Tristan Trilogy. Mock may have written it down, but truly it’s told by your lovable host, Tristan Kanes. He’s funny, sarcastic and while it may not seem it at times, he’s the real person in charge of this story.

I commend the author for creating a magical world that feels real. Her world building talent is one of the best I've read. I rarely read fantasy novels, but Tristan is so much more that that. It's a story of struggle and love. ~ Garry Michael, Author of Debut Sensation: Break Point
The world building in this is wonderful and I can picture everything in vibrant detail. And the characters. How they manage to be both ancient with swordplay and elves but also speak so modern and real shouldn't work but it so does." ~ Amazon Reader

Once I started I couldn't stop. Tristan is a strong, loyal brave character and I LOVE how he finds himself and learns about his own sexual identity . He also has flaws which make him much more real." ~Hockeymom, Amazon Reader
[...] I read the synopsis and formed my expectations of this book. About the author

S. Legend is a bestselling author of the unique and authentically OTT Heartbreak Hockey Series.
S loves to write gritty, edgy MLM and bisexual male heroes, obsessed with owning their men, body and soul. They have just the right amount of moral ambiguity and unhealthy intensity to hit the spicy sweet spot. Sometimes they even step into dark territory. Possessiveness and codependency are their love language! S’s characters are complex, deep, and three-dimensional. They get under your skin in a big way.
S likes to stay fairly private, living in the rainiest city in the known universe—Vancouver, Canada of course—with four mischievous bunnies and a partner that thankfully understands that when the door to the writing cave is closed, you enter at your own risk.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2022You guys. Send help. I just dived in this.. whole elf fantasy thing and that thing is so freaking good. I never expected to like a plot with a fantasy theme that has elves and humans and god knows what else because this is only book 1. Look. I'm not doing paranormalish. It's not a genre that I'm interested in but let me tell you. This was MIND BLOWING! 🔥
This story is very interesting. It has lots of spanking, lots of punishing and also lots of tension and smut 🥵 Add to that the whole polyamory thing that the author served me.. and I'm telling you.. I am a GONER.
You know what.. scratch that. I'm a RUNNER. Because after that twist in the end?
Are you kidding me? Just take my money 💸 and give me book 2 already!! 😩🖤
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2025...but, it entirely depends on the resolution of this story. In the following installments.
Because, depending how it goes, it is either a really good fantasy book with interesting characters, that grow and learn things they didn't know; or it is a toxic mess. The main hero here (spoilers) has multiple relationships here, and each is different, hardly any of them can be called consentual, and each deals with some forms of punishment, which the hero claims he needs, because it helps him sort out his head (which I don't dispute), but the reasons for them are sometimes so wild I cringe. Like, really, you tell your husband 'no, you are not allowed to remove my tattoo', and they punish you for disobeying, since they decided to remove the tattoo and you protest it? There wasn't really a real consent to this dynamic. It speaks a lot about dominants and submissives, but being dominant does not mean you can be a prick, so depending how this story goes (in the future), it will be either really great, because the writting is REALLY good, or it will suck, because glorifying this toxic streak will make me cringe more.
We'll see how it goes.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2025I was hooked right from the beginning with this book! It was my first time reading S. Legend and while I generally don’t read fantasy, the world building was so uniquely and wonderfully crafted that I fell in love with it.
The emotional impact these characters have…wow. My poor heart. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, wondering what would happen. I certainly couldn’t anticipate the twists.
It’s high heat, the chemistry is off the charts, and every sentence packs a punch. The ending left me gasping and I immediately needed to dive into the next book!
5 stars for a well crafted kinky world!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2022The main story seems to be about a human (or maybe NOT really so human) coming into his supernatural strength, which is normally a great trope. However, there are SO many things about this plot that do not make sense.
Ignore the D/s dynamics because I don't think they really matter to the story line itself. They are just a prop used to enhance the smexy times and to differentiate between the different relationships that Tristan has with Corrik, et. al. I think that the author meant for it to have a deeper meaning, but it really doesn't.
There are much more confusing issues. First, Tristan is supposed to be a really great warrior but when compared to even the weakest Elf Warrior, he's nothing. So, if that's the case, how have human armies survived against Elf armies? Also, as others have pointed out, if he's such a great warrior and chosen as the next Warlord, why was he given away so easily? They try to make it about the Elves becoming allies and possibly that Tristan's father thought only the Elf Prince Corrik would be a strong enough mate/husband for Tristan, but that doesn't really hold water either. Especially since the country Tristan is from wasn't at war with anyone and didn't need such a strong ally and I'm pretty sure there were human dominants who would be able to handle Tristan.
Book 2 really makes even less sense, but that's for another review.
However, if you ignore all the plot holes it's a decent story.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025I loved the adventure and intrigue of this story. I was surprised by the events towards the end, but I’m interested to see where things go in the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021I waited for the next book to come out before diving into this one, and good thing I did, because I devoured it in one sitting. Beautiful world-building, engaging characters, hot spanking scenes and even hotter sex. If fantasy adventure M/M romance books with focus on power exchange and domestic discipline in particular is your thing, as it is mine, you should definitely give this story a try! The story sets up the stage for the greater events to follow, and you are left wanting mooore. Thankfully, I could dive into the second book right away^^
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2021I had this book for months before I finally decided to read it, and now I’m kicking myself for waiting that long to “pick” it up.
I commend the author for creating a magical world that feels “real”. Her world building talent is one of the best I’ve read. It’s descriptive without being too over the top which sometimes can ruin the story for me. Her voice is clear and her writing is sophisticated and easy at the same time. Her dialogues are crisp and believable. Each chapter is set up beautifully for the next one, keeping me on my toes! I rarely read fantasy novels, but Tristan is so much more that that. It’s a story of struggle and love.
I’m so glad that I don’t have to wait long for the sequel!
I highly recommend this book and author, if you like fantasy, romance and steam!

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't finish
Only I know how much I tried to like this. But at the 62% mark I gave up. These had to be the most annoying characters I've had the displeasure of reading. Tristan is supposed to be a warrior warlord but he acts like a spoiled teenager. I was hoping to see a backbone, a scene where he shows why he was going to be a warlord but we only see a sex toy. He accepts the way Corrick treats him and pouts (the author literally wrote he pouted a lot). I love bdsm dynamics but this was just unconfortable. There is little to no communication and just felt humilliating (and not the kinky good kind). Don't waste your time on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5
Leans heavily on the D/s dynamic with lots of spankings but no safe play rules, as in no safe words and Tristan is never given any real training and just expected to submit.
It's a bit odd but strangely compelling once you get used to the writing style, Tristan tells the story for the most part.
The word choice is a bit random with modern vernacular but the story kept me reading.
This looks like it will be a poly romance and Tristan is with someone other than his husband on page

5.0 out of 5 stars Binged it in a day!
Goodness, where to begin? I loved this book a lot! But I think this is one of those books that can easily hit sore spots with people. It's one of those hit or miss reads, and for me it was a definite hit.
The actual pacing of the story is slow in turn of events and moving from location A to B which I usually hate but the thing is, it didn't feel slow at all! I raced through the pages like I was on fire! It was awesome.
I love Corrik and Tristan's characters as well as some of the side characters, I appreciate it when a book isn't just about the 2 MC's and lately I'd been stuck on those types of books so hallelujah for finding books with a love for multiple characters.
This book explores sub & dom relationships. I advise anyone to read the disclaimer, because if ANYTHING mentioned there is throwing you off, just don't pick up the book. It's not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense, delicious mm fantasy
This is the first book that I have read by S. Legend but I will definitely be gobbling up everything I can of hers. I adored this book and if I could give it more stars I would. It’s everything that I want in an mm Dom/sub fantasy book. Hot bedroom scenes, magic, adventure, mystery and love. Tristan is such a conflicted hero for this story. He has been trained to be a Warlord and yet he is sold off to secure an alliance. I can’t wait to read more of his adventures.

4.0 out of 5 stars A story of a human and the Elf that loves him.
A young Warlord, a peace treaty and the Elf prince that started it all.
I loved this story. It's full of adventure, shenanigans and spice. There were even a few times I found it funny.
It explains the roles of Doms and Subs in and outside the bedroom rather well. Some may see it as abuse, but if you don't understand the why's of Doms and Subs, this book might not be for you.
The only thing that bothered me was the amount of grammer errors, but other than that, it's a good read.
