    **spoilers below**

I was so excited to jump into book 3! And we’re thrown right back into it, the story starting just after the end of the previous book. The main characters, Adam and Emma, dive straight into forming a plan to help Duffy and M15 take down The Secrecy.

The scenes where they enact their plan to sneak into different areas are so tense! I kept waiting for a guard to show up every time they turned a corner. Every time they mentioned M15, I was worried they were going to be overheard. And while they do get caught by Linda after the fact, it doesn’t seem like a stern talking to will be their only punishment.

Adam and Emma are at the base for longer in this book, and it was nice to see more of the area around them, not just the infirmary and the gym. It helped flesh out the area and makes it clear just how large it truly is.

The banter between the teens is very cute, with there even being a moment when Adam wants to kiss Emma! While I’m glad he didn’t, I could see other readers wanting it to happen. I really like the idea of them being just friends, but who knows what happens in book 4?

There is so much violence happening during their new mission in Venice. The destruction of the streets is amazingly detailed. The deaths in this book are more graphic and detailed, so much so that some of them got to me.

There were a few issued I noticed in this book. Some were grammar mistakes (pg. 127 “and” used instead of “had”; pg. 129“course” used instead of “cause”). Some were things just glossed over too easily, including Adam mentioning his parents. I wish they were mentioned more. It seems like Adam (and Emma) have completely forgotten their lives before The Secrecy. Also, Adam shakes off getting shot pretty easily, and I can only imagine a leg wound like that would be terrible. But besides those few hiccups, the book was amazing, like the others before it!

The scenes near the end hit home for me. The four extremists, the ones responsible for the deaths of the rioters in Venice, take a school, and a small girl, hostage. Gun violence in schools in America is a real threat and it made reading these scenes that much harder. I cannot tell you the relief I felt when it turned out Adam and Emma saved all the children.

I spent the whole book wondering what was happening with The Secrecy and M15. I wanted so desperately for the two to get word somehow about what was happening. I almost shouted out loud when it was Linda and Scotty who greeted the two at the end of the mission. What happened to Duffy? Who answered the call Adam placed to M15? What will happen to Adam and Emma now? I can’t believe there is only one book left. I hope all of my questions will be answered, and I hope The Secrecy gets taken down!
