Tovi books are designed in a simple animated way to give young readers the impression of watching a short film where Tovi and his friends play out their adventures.

As the lovable characters in these books share a whole range of experiences, they learn about sharing, about helping each other, and most important, they learn the value of friendship.
You'll be surprised what an exciting time little penguins can have!
Tovi the Penguin is a children's book series also available to buy on Amazon: Tovi the Penguin - goes camping (Volume 1), Tovi the Penguin - goes to London (Volume 3) and Tovi the Penguin - goes into space (Volume 4),Tovi the Penguin - goes to the seaside (Volume 5), Tovi the Penguin - goes trick-or-treating (Volume 6) and Tovi the Penguin - goes on a treasure hunt in Paris (Volume 7).
"What a fun book! My son is in love with penguins right now, so he especially enjoyed this book. The illustrations are amazing and the story has just the right amount of words for a toddler--he can learn from the words but there aren't so many words that it distracts from the pictures (which is of course his favorite part!)"
A great book for toddlers or children up to 6 years old.

About the author

Amazon bestselling and multi-award-winning author Janina Rossiter brings her passions together in her work: painting and illustrating children's books.
As an illustrator and author, Janina was inspired to write "Diamonds, Hearts & Sea Stars!" and "123 Who’s Cleaning the Sea?" because of her concern for our environment. She is passionate about fighting climate change, protecting nature, and keeping the oceans free from plastic and other pollutants. Education is the key to understanding how each of us can make a difference. Our future depends on our actions
Janina created the illustrations for Blue Ocean Watch video ‘The Song of Life’ relating to sound pollution affecting whales.
As an artist, she feels happiest when recreating images of the ocean in her paintings. “I hope that through my art and my love of the sea, I can make my voice heard and make a difference."
With the arrival of her first daughter, Janina's love for painting and drawing found a new lease on life and, before long, she combined her passion for illustration with the wonderfully inspiring world of children. Today she works as a freelance packaging designer, artist, illustrator and children's book author. She enjoys the creative energy of Paris, where she lives with her English husband and her two daughters.

School visit reviews:
Janina Rossiter was invited to collaborate with Dulwich College (Singapore) with our Year 2 and Year 4 children, they were in awe of her work which linked well with their learning of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Due to the impact of Covid-19 this was conducted as a virtual artist residency, with video links and presentations. Janina was very thorough with the resources she provided and flexible with the project as it developed. Our children filmed questions to ask which Janina answered with lots of visuals and age appropriate explanations. As a virtual residency it was incredibly successful, the outcomes from the project were really high quality and I couldn't recommend enough working with Janina!
Kathryn Hall, Director of Art & Design Technology, Dulwich College (Singapore)
Janina Rossiter has been invited to speak at the Lennen Bilingual School a number of times over the last few years, with each visit a great success! She is hugely engaged with the children and encourages them to ask questions and think for themselves about the environment. Since her visits, the children have turned into true little eco-warriors and have become determined to protect our planet and the sea creatures from plastic pollution. I would highly recommend Janina Rossiter's author visit for any school that is interested in helping children understand about plastic pollution and how we can all do our bit to help. Her passion for bringing about change and encouraging everyone to make a difference is contagious. Many months after her latest visit the kids are still talking about her! I would recommend her program on plastic pollution to any school.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2015Do you look forward to Christmas? What is the best part of Christmas for you?
The author, Janina Rossiter, has written such a fun story about Tovi the penguin. Tovi and his friends were going away for Christmas. They went to a little house in the woods. They got there just before it started snowing heavily. They went inside, decorated the house and their tree, and had a lovely evening. They all were snug in bed waiting for Santa to come. In the morning, they awoke to find no presents. When they went outside, they found so much snow that maybe Santa could not find them. They busied themselves with having fun and making a delicious dinner. They had such a good time that no one remembered Santa had not come. The next morning it was time to go home, and when they got home they found a big surprise. When you read this book you will discover what they found.
Parents/teachers will enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will have such a good time listening to everything that the Penguins did. They will be able to discuss all the lessons learned. The illustrations are vibrant, colorful and vivid. They depict the adventures of the Penguins. A wonderful story for Christmas.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2015I've had a mixed relationship with Tovi, but who can resist a good Christmas story? This one was a good one - and had a nice message - that friends are more important than presents, although presents are good too! Tovi and his two friends are evidently quite well-off, because they have a winter retreat they can visit for Xmas. I guess they have a nice income from licensing their image to the Linux people and the Batman franchise...!
The penguins discover on Xmas morning that Santa hasn't delivered any presents! Rather than dissolve into blubbering and inertia, they press on and make a joyous dinner, and play games and have a good old time. When they arrive home, they discover that Santa has indeed paid them a visit - he just didn't know they were away from home. Not only did they have a great time, now they get to open presents. I found this to be a fun story, and with an important message, which is why I'm rating this one a worthy read.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2017Tovi and family visit a cabin in a extremely snow covered place. So snowy that it seems Santa did not see them and left no presents.
This family of penguins are very cute and seem easily pleased even after the disappointment of no presents from santa. Although they have not received gifts they find happiness with just spending time with each other.
I do think that the message that family is more important than the materials things we want, but I worry particularly for little ones that this story is read to. For instance those who are traveling with family getting upset about Santa forgetting them on Christmas Eve. Even though I know that is not exactly how it ends, Santa really did not forget them.
This was introduction to the Tovi The Penguin series, and even though I am not sure which penguin is Tovi, I can see the likableness of this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2016Cute book for really young kids. I wasn't sure if the pictures and text would show up correctly on the Kindle, but they did, so that was good. I wouldn't suggest this book though for kids past 5 or 6, if even that old. But preschoolers should enjoy the cute story about a penguin.

No rhyme--and that is good for a story of this type, make it natural. It also helps a child cope with the question: "What if Santa doesn't bring me anything for Christmas?" The lesson is -- Christmas is much much more than presents.
Tovi is a most happy and pleasant character, one that preschool children and first-graders will relate with.

This is a delightful read and one that is sure to engage young ones. The beautiful illustrations keep everyone glued to the book while the story enfolds! Thank you, Ms Rossiter, for a wonderful book!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2015This little book is a delightful read for the youngest to the oldest child. While Tovi and his family are vacationing, a huge snowstorm covers their house which inhibits Santa's ability to deliver the presents.. Therefore, there are no presents under the tree on Christmas morning. Tovi is very disappointed but, as the day wears on, he finds joy in just being with his family. When they arrive home, Tovi is surprised to see all of the presents under their tree. Tovi learned a valuable lesson about family and the true meaning of Christmas. Children will also love the illustrations

A kind story showing that it's important to have good friends, enjoy good time and that problems always have a solution. My 2-y-old daughter enjoys the book, the stylish illustrations and is always looking for the ladybug.

I bought this after my twins loved Tovi goes Camping (which is also loved by my nephews who I bought it for before a camping trip). I read it to them at bedtime and my little boy wouldn't put it down so has taken it to bed with him. It's a simple story but fun with nice clear pictures. It will be on my shopping list for friends children too.
