Table for Five Kindle Edition
When your life falls apart, all you need is a friend…
Abbie Finch loves her job.
Unfortunately, her boss doesn’t love her.
When she finds herself unexpectedly unemployed, Abbie realises that she’s let all her friendships fall by the wayside and has no one to turn to.
Lost and lonely, Abbie decides to leave her comfort zone and join the neighbourhood café’s community table. There she meets aloof, elegant Ethel, down-on-his-luck Bob, colourful, chaotic Dawn and recently relocated Viraj. Friends? Not yet. But when they decide to help the homeless people in their community by staging an extravagant fundraising event, will something that began as a good deed help Abbie find a way back to herself—and make lifelong friends at the same time?

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024This was a charming book that I would have given 5 stars for the message of the book, except Abbie frustrated me with her relationship with Spencer. Delightful characters.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2024Feel good story of strangers meeting in a cafe from all walks of life and how they come to help one another.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2025I am an avid reader who reads a lot of true crime stories, biographies, and bizarre mysteries filled with evil characters who enjoy killing people.
That being said, sometimes I just want to read a nice pleasant story with likable characters and an overall and pleasant narrative. Both of the Izzy Bromley books that I have read have been just that: fun, pleasant and overall soothing and calming to read.
To those of you who complain that stories like this are so predictable I say “so what?”There are times when that sort of predictability is preferable to the heart pounding nastiness of homicidal maniacs. Well done, you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written tale addressing several social issues.
Always enjoy this author, whichever name she is using. This title grew from strangers tentatively meeting up to growing friendships., acceptance, confidence and
support.
The initial doubts and suspicions were replaced by loyalty and love
Each character unfolded gently, revealing their strengths and worries.
Except Dawn. She simply burst onto the page and into everyone's heart. A truly beautiful creation in so many ways.
If I'm honest the key character frequently annoyed me as she struggled with her change in circumstances but that was largely down to the fact I used the audio version and the narrator, for me, was awful. That had to be overlooked for my review rating though. Not the author's fault!
So many current social issues are included for the reader to consider. A joyful story, with the occasional reminder. "not to judge a book. (or whatever) by its cover (alone)."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for an enjoyable read
This is a very entertaining book about five lonely people who meet up at a community table in their local cafe. Likeable charachters who each have their own challenges, this book highlights how easy it is for people to become disconnected from friends, family or colleagues, and how hard it can be to find a bridge back to becoming connected.
I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters as they came to know each other better, and pushed themselves outside their comfort zones. I actually want to know what happens to Abbie, Robert and the rest after the end of this book.
A very enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars APPEALING STORY
Well written/edited story that handles a somewhat delicate subject with understanding and empathy. The characters are extremely well developed and, although some reviewers may find the Dawn character overdrawn, as a social worker I have certainly met and interacted with a number of “Dawns” in my career.
