Take Two (I Heart SapphFic Pride Collection Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,128 ratings

They were the perfect couple until pride got in the way…

Gina Mitchells has a problem. The assistant professor is in charge of her college’s Pride festival committee, and the celebrity grand marshal they’d painstakingly recruited has just blown up the internet with a major scandal. Messing up the festival could ruin her chance to be approved for tenure. There’s exactly one famous person Gina knows who could save the day as a last-minute replacement.

The problem? The woman is Gina’s ex-girlfriend, and to say the relationship did not end well is an understatement.

Sophia Rossi has starred in so many squeaky-clean holiday romances since moving to Hollywood that everyone calls her the Queen of Christmas. An important new contract has her filming in a quaint New England town, but there’s a catch. It’s Sophia’s hometown, and surviving a month with her meddling, relationship-obsessed mother and sisters might be too much for Sophia’s sanity to bear.

When Gina reappears in Sophia’s life with a proposition, Sophia has one of her own. It’s a match made in heaven, if only they can get over their past heartbreak long enough to convince everyone they’ve rekindled their old spark. But can this fake relationship lead them to a second chance at love?

This book is part of the I Heart SapphFic Pride Collection, which contains eight standalone books from some of the top authors in sapphic fiction today. Each one promises a Pride theme and a happy ending. The collection was organized by I Heart SapphFic, which is a website for authors and readers of sapphic fiction to stay up-to-date on all the latest sapphic fiction news.

This is a wonderful book from my TBR shelves, and a reread. It's a fantastic second chance love story. Ten years ago as they were graduating Gina broke up with Sophia. Breaking both their hearts. Gina went to NY to make documentaries and Sophia went to Hollywood to make movies. Now ten years later, Gina is a professor at their alma mater and Sophia is the Queen of Christmas. She's also staring in a Christmas movie in her home town, which is close to the University where Gina teaches. And this is where the story begins. It's a beautiful journey and a great story! 5 stars!

It was enjoyable to read this story. Quite sweet and easy to read. Plus this extra part right after reading “Christmas at Rainbow Falls” completed whole book. I liked the story and love that there are mixed in characters from Miranda’s and TB’s other books.

“Life isn’t like a movie. I’m talking about real life. How does this relate?”

When life separated Gina and Sophia who knew if they'd ever have a chance. When their alma mater's Pride Festival goes haywire, Professor Gina approaches Sophia- now a made for TV movie star- to be the marshall.

What happens next is almost a made for TV movie on its own. Makes me wonder if the two authors have ever thought of writing their own scripts. All I know is that this book is so believable and the story flows so well, I am scrambling through my massive cloud storage to see if I have anything else to like it. Run, don't walk to get this book! Highly Recommended 5/5

Lately it seems that the novels I look forward to the most are the fantastic, character driven stories written by two of my favorite authors when they work together. While I love their work individually, there's something special about the stories that Miranda MacLeod and T.B. Markinson come up with when they combine their efforts. Their individual writing styles just seem to meld together, smoothing out the areas where their individual works sometimes have slight rough patches with just the right mix of humor and drama to keep the story moving forward while their approaches to character development complement each other so well I sometimes have trouble telling which main character is the brain child of which author, despite not ever mistaking the characters in their own works for ones that would be in the others... (Does that make any sense?) Anyway... this is a great story with great characters! Highly recommended!

Gina Mitchells is a documentary filmmaker and college professor. When the grand marshal for the college’s Pride Festival delivers a homophonic rant about feminizes the student committee pushes her to ask Sophia Rossi, Hollywood’s Queen of Christmas movies, to be the new grand marshal. As the woman who betrayed Sophia ten years ago, Gina has no faith that she can get her to agree. However, Sophia surprises her by asking for a fake relationship. Now all the old feelings are coming back while the filming for a new Christmas movie is falling apart. A wonderful Sapphic romcom. Great series for a very worthy cause.

Thank f.. goodness for the TBs and Mirandas of this world writing the good stuff for us sapphic simps. I love me some 2nd chance romcom and this one was banger!

At first I thought we'd go the resentment path and I was there for it (coz I love some bitter bickering) but things went another way and I loved it to the bits all the same. Especially with the angst being basically non-existent. A very feel good story.

All the other characters (but that one you'll know about soon enough) were amazing, their appearances are punctual but they made an impact, can't wait to read more about everyone here.

    December couldn't come sooner!

A second chance love story with a conciliatory ending - just what it takes to sweeten up Pride Month. In addition, the I Heart SapphFic Pride Collection is a touching gesture that each author in the collection will be donating a portion of their preorder royalties to a charity of their choice. So, the series not only offers reading fun, but at the same time something good is done with the proceeds. It was really a fun read and I highly recommend this entertaining story and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

About time someone wrote a story featuring gay women of color. I loved the story and the characters. Also I had posted on some other outlet to feature mystery and thirllers with lesbians detectives as leads. And why they are not making rom-coms with lesbians in the lead roles. There is under representation in the LGBTQ+ community so let's get down to it and change things up. Thank you Miranda and T.B. Keep them coming.
