Talos (Bloodlines of Fate Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 86 ratings

“Tell me a story Daddy.” Kikoi, xolos wrangler by night and King Talos’ snuggle monster by day, demanded.
“What story do you want to hear tonight, baby boy?” Talos, Vampyr King and Supernatural Council Member, asked while he pulled Kikoi onto his lap.
“I want to hear about when you met Daddy Bayne.” Almost three hundred years old and Kikoi would never get tired of story time.
“Again?” Talos arched an eyebrow with amusement.
“Yes! It’s a good one.” Kikoi beamed at Talos.
Talos leaned against the headboard of their bed as Bayne, former assassin but still looked damn good in armor, joined them and began…

The Age of Man has passed, and a new age is upon the Earth. An age of magic and technology ruled by the supernatural beings that once hid amongst humanity has begun.

Bayne is thrust into a world he thinks he knows but quickly discovers his whole life has been built on lies. Talos, perfectly happy ruling his corner of the world, is faced with an unexpected and unwelcome change that comes with the mate chosen by Fate. Together they must discover how to live and, in the end, love one another. Fate has more in store for them than learning to love someone they should hate. Will they be open to all the possibilities Fate lays out for them?

Bloodlines of Fate is a new urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings. Fate has many plans for the vampires, unicorns, therianthropes, elves, and humans of this new world. While their mates may be fated, love isn't that easy.

This book contains depictions of gladiatorial combat, snarky fem twinks who will cut you, kings in stilettos, and awkward heats with a pinch of daddy kink. Talos is part one of a two-part story arch that tells the love story of two triads (MMM). It does end in an HFN with a HEA tied into the second part.

This is a type of omegaverse with mpreg.

This book is an exciting introduction to a brand new world. It’s unlike anything I have read before. Instead, A.G. Carothers creates a compelling and addictive story based on supernatural characters, some of which I’ve never read in any story.

The character development is superb. I absolutely love Bayne. My heart went to Bayne and Talos both during this book. I especially love how the author draws in the additional characters so there is always a sense of realism to the story. The world-building is incredible. This let me step right into the pages and I never looked away.

I’m in awe of the storyline. I couldn’t anticipate what would happen and was just along for the ride. It was very well thought out and nothing seemed out of place. The pacing was excellent and everything fit, including the daddy kink and mpreg. I already have reread it once and I can tell it’s going on my frequent reread list.

5 stars for an incredibly unique and addictive read.

I feel like more people should know about this book and the beginning of the series. I'm only giving it a 4 🌟 because while it's really good it could have been longer. A.G. Carothers does a really good job of showing and telling us about this world. There's a great character building. It just feels like there should be more to the story. Kind of felt like it was a sampler instead of just book 1. I can't wait to read more of this world. It feels like it could be a to go through this world; kind of like Kim Harrison's the Hollows series of Macy Blake's the Chosen One series

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and all of the lovely characters in it. I liked how Bayne learned to trust his own instincts when it came to Talos and Kikoi.

Odin and Majid were such an interesting dynamic, and I can’t wait to see how things turn out for them when they finally meet up with their third.

The very first thing I noticed with this book was its cover. I love drawn covers, so that was the first thing that attracted me. Personally, I don’t think the story matches up to the cover except in terms of the characters—it definitely doesn’t reflect the tone of the story itself. The supernatural inhabitants of this world in the royal circle are beyond uninhibited, and their actions are explicitly described…that goes for fighting and physical intimacy. Very public, erotic, and graphic intimacy.

As for the main characters…I liked that Bayne was dedicated to the cause for which he was fighting. When it came to him accepting the actual reality of the situation and his link to Talos though, I thought he embraced everything too easily and quickly, especially given that he’d been taught otherwise his entire life—with the oppressed life he lived, both in upbringing and training to fight his change of heart was too fast. Talos, well he is what he is and he makes no apologies for it. He’s very matter-of-fact, but given his position and his nature he is exactly as he should be.

Given the shorter length of this story, it was hard for me to get a true feel for the dynamic between Talos and Bayne regardless of the fated mate aspect of their relationship. Everything felt more physical than anything else. With this being the first in the series, there was also a lot left open at the end of the book and it felt like this installment ended a bit abruptly given all the unknowns at the end.

The only other story I’ve read by this author was a short story in the Come, Play erotica anthology, and I really liked it. Talos is a very different story than that, and the writing felt different to me as well, almost a little unpolished. But this is definitely an interesting start to the series, and readers for whom unrestrained, hedonistic scenes are a plus are sure to find Talos an intriguing read. For me, it’s 3 stars for Talos…and you can be very sure that this book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language, sexual content, and violence.

Strap yourself in because this is a wild ride. There’s blood, sex, gore and violence and sometimes it’s all in one scene.

It wasn't clear in the description that this was m/m/m or else I wouldn't have read it. I don't enjoy multiple partner books but this was fine. I finished it and the story/ world built was interesting. Just should have been clearer in description

Being new to A.G.Carothers I was not sure what to expect, but I loved it. The world building was brilliant - a world run by supernaturals after humans muck it up. Talos is a vampyr and king of all in his sector, Bayne is human and turns out to be his mate. This of course leads to some trouble as they both come to understand each other. Two other MC are Majid - a black unicorn and best friend of Talos and Odin who is his mate and Talos's brother. The story includes gladiatorial fights, daddy kink and mpreg. Can't wait for the next book.

For a bit of fun this book is ok but really nothing special. Enjoyable but would be soon forgotten.
