The Tamsin Kernick English Cozy Mysteries - The First Three Adventures!: Sit, Stay, Murder! Ready, Aim, Woof! and Down Dog! (The Tamsin Kernick English Cozy Mysteries Collections Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 63 ratings

She’s happy with her furry friends, friendly coffee shop, and peaceful town. When she stumbles upon a suspicious death, can she expose the truth?

Malvern Hills, in the heart of England. Tamsin Kernick loves life with her four-legged pals. Warm and kind, all the passionate dog trainer wants is to make her school a barking success. But she panics that her dream career is about to come crashing down when one of her human students is found after class in the car park stone-cold dead. Can Tamsin and her tail-wagging faithfuls pull all their tricks out of the bag to collar a killer?

Book 2 continues the suspense, when Tamsin stumbles across a murder that will shake the picturesque village of Bishop’s Green to its core – a lifeless body in the rushes, with an arrow piercing its back. She finds herself in the midst of the turmoil of villagers and eco-warriors as she digs into rivalries and uncovers long-buried secrets.

Then, in Book 3, Just as Tamsin is settling down to enjoying training her clients’ puppies and dogs and not solving murders, a dead body is found after a yoga class given by her gentle housemate, Emerald. With some unsavoury things going on at the Health Shop, upheavals in the local Food for Free movement, and connections with racehorse-doping into the bargain, Tamsin finds herself facing real danger as she attempts to unravel the mystery.

Can her faithful furry friends get to her rescue in time and sniff out the killer?

If you enjoy gripping mysteries which are hard to put down, delightful dogs, quirky characters, and the beauty of the English countryside, you’ll love Lucy Emblem’s warmhearted and captivating stories.

From an early age I loved animals. From doing “showjumping” in the back garden with Simon, the long-suffering family pet - many years before Dog Agility was invented - I worked in the creative arts till I came back to my first love and qualified as a dog trainer.

Working for years with thousands of dogs and their colourful owners - from every walk of life - I found that their fancies and foibles, their doings and their undoings, served to inspire this series of cozy mysteries.

While the varying characters weave their way through the books, some becoming established personnel in the stories, the stars of the show are the animals!

They don’t have human powers. They don’t need to. They have plenty of powers of their own, which need only patience and kindness to bring out and enjoy with them.

If you enjoyed this story, I would LOVE it if you could hop over to where you purchased your book and leave a brief review!

And I love hearing from readers - tell me about your dogs and cats (and goats, sheep, ponies, hens, and the rest).

After I read the prequel, telling me how Tamsin got to the Malvern Hills, I knew I had to find out more, since she seemed such a wonderful character to follow. Seeing the Three Book Collection, I got it, and thoroughly enjoyed reading through Tamsin’s first three “cases.” Her three lovely dogs, and great friends make these mysteries so fun to read. And the descriptions of the beautiful landscape! And the cake! These books will warm your heart, as love and affection are everywhere in this great group of characters. So entertaining. A must read cozy series.

Kind of a meandering story, advancing some characters’ stories while solving a murder and training dogs. The denouement pulled together several characters and it was somewhat difficult to follow. But given that this is a “feel good” series, there are several friendships, lovely countryside, and terrific dogs to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three fantastic books in one package

Lucy has a brilliant talent for drawing the reader into the story, so much that I felt that these people were real friends and I lived with them in the beautiful Malvern. Tamsin the protagonist, and her friends and expecially her dogs, work determinedly to solve the murders. Each book focuses on a different story which can be read as a stand-alone, but much more can be experienced by reading the books in order. The warmth of friendship, determination, sleuthing at its very best (and the cakes) and how her dogs assist in the investigations all work their magic to create a beautiful story. Tamsin is a dog behavioural therapist, running puppy classes, teaching tricks and working on one to one bases to to educate owners how to overcome their (doggy) problems in a kind and rewarding manner. Emerald and her cat are ethereal, and elegant, but just as determined as Tamsin and Feargal, their sleuth friend -reporter for the local paper to unravel the clues and resolve the case.
If you love dogs, friendship, determination and cake, do yourself a favour and read this boxset to be drawn into this beautiful area, full of characters interacting on so many levels, and so realistic I at least never wanted each book to end.
