K.L. “Kat” Hiers is an embalmer, restorative artist, and queer writer. Licensed in both funeral directing and funeral service, they worked in the death industry for nearly a decade. Their first love was always telling stories, and they have been writing for over twenty years, penning their very first book at just eight years old. Publishers generally do not accept manuscripts in Hello Kitty notebooks, however, but they never gave up.

Following the success of their first novel, Cold Hard Cash, they now enjoy writing professionally, focusing on spinning tales of sultry passion, exotic worlds, and emotional journeys. They love attending horror movie conventions and indulging in cosplay of their favorite characters. They live in Zebulon, NC, with their family, including their children, some of whom have paws and a few that only pretend to because they think it’s cute.

    Only K.L. Hiers can take serial robbers, a broken down car in a weirdly "Hallmark movie meets the Twilight Zone" small town, Christmas overload, and the most bizarre chili recipe and come up with the quirkiest, most laugh out loud story ever - but they do! I'm a huge fan of this author and this short story is just another of the many reasons why. I literally lost track of all the insane trope puns and chuckled through the entire thing. Didn't see the end coming at all, and I loved the surprise! Seriously, you won't be disappointed with a K.L. Hiers book and I can't recommend this one enough! Humorous, entertaining, with a touch of 🔥🔥🔥 Pure gold!

    Definitely a unique take on the Christmas themed towns/stories. A bit creepy, a lot fun, very trope-inspired, it's not the everyday-holiday-read, for sure. Definitely brings South Park episodes to mind. A quick, bite-sized snack for your reading pleasure!

    I loved this short, and the world building was so engaging. I would read so many books set here, just to enjoy such a unique crazy, but the characters are equally enjoyable.
