Sometimes you have to write your own future…

The life of former journalist Juliette Seymour has been quiet and unassuming. Up until now, she’s been concentrating on running the local newspaper and raising her daughter.

But all that is about to change when Juliette is informed that the Ticklemore Tattler is to fold and that she’ll be out of a job. She begins to wonder whether she can buy the newspaper and try to make a go of it herself.

Aware that she needs some advice she contacts Oliver Pascoe, little knowing that when her old colleague re-enters her life, his help isn’t the only thing she wants him for!

As she begins to fall in love, however, what she doesn’t realise is that Oliver has something he’s keeping from her.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.

She lives on a Welsh mountain with her very patient husband and incredibly sweet dog, where she grows veggies (if the slugs don't get them), bakes (badly) and loves making things out of glitter and glue (a mess, usually). She's been an avid reader ever since she got her hands on a copy of Noddy Goes to Toytown when she was five, and she once tried to read everything in her local library starting with A and working her way through the alphabet. She loves long, hot summer days in the garden, and cold winter ones snuggled in front of the fire, but whatever the weather she's usually writing or thinking about writing, with heartwarming romance and happy-ever-after always on her mind.

She also writes romantic fiction as Lilac Mills

I really enjoyed reading this story. It has a bit of mystery and a surprise ending. Liz Davies is such a talented author and makes me feel like I'm right there in the pub with the rest of the characters. Looking forward to the next Ticklemore book!!

Many thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Liz Davies for providing me with a digital copy of The Ticklemore Tattler with a request for an honest review.

The Ticklemore Tattler is the sweetest romance I’ve read this year. What Liz Davies gives the reader is genuine and romantic. I love that the characters are older and have life experiences behind them. Davies portrays it in a way that melts your heart.

I love the village of Ticklemore. It is like the town I grew up in. I felt at home there. The characters are eccentric yet homey. I love how the whole village comes together to celebrate life and love.

The Ticklemore Tattler reminds me of the small town papers of my youth. I couldn’t wait to read the newspaper every week. There was a children’s section with puzzles and coloring pictures that I adored. Juliette might want to add that the revamped Tattler.

This novel is the second in the Ticklemore series. However, it worked perfectly as a standalone. There was information from the first book but, I would never have guessed that it’s part of a series. I learned just enough about Hattie and Alfred’s story and how it related to this book. But, I now want to go back and read the first book.

I am happy to award The Ticklemore Tattler 4 out of 5 stars. I take away a star only because of the predictability of the trope. But, if you are in the mood to boost your faith in humanity, pick up this novel.

    Favorite Quotes:

Your mum was in here yesterday with a face like a wet weekend, so I guessed there was something going on. I pretended I knew about it, so don’t go blaming her because she spilt the beans… You’d be surprised how often that ploy works on people.

‘He’s just a bloke… The trick is to imagine him naked,’ he added. Juliette shuddered. ‘Please, no, you’ve put that image in my mind now and I don’t think I’m going to get rid of it… Out, before you do any more damage. If I start giggling halfway through the meeting because I’m imagining his man-boobs and his paunch, I’ll blame you.’

    My Review:

This was an enjoyable and sweet read featuring mature characters reuniting for a second chance romance in a small village decades after meeting. The storylines were relevant and easy to follow while staffed with a colorful cast of likable and quirky villagers. I adored Hattie, although I would afraid to live anywhere near her for fear she would uncover and expose all my secrets. The main characters were appealing and endearing people that I enjoyed getting to know as they problem-solved their issues and worked their way towards each other for that highly prized HEA.

You will enjoy every minute of this book, set in a small village where all the Characters are interesting, and involved in each other's lives. The main characters in the problems that arise in the newspaper, when the owner wants to close it. Are well written, and you can't help but get involved.
Very good read, clean well written series. Thank you Liz

4.0 out of 5 stars another great read

I enjoyed the first book in this series and wasn’t disappointed by the this one either. It led an interesting look into journalism and running a newspaper whilst falling in love and having skeletons in your cupboard! I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough. Iv dropped a star off as I thought the ended was really rushed. The story based around Brooke finding out who her father was concluded so briefly it left me feeling a bit robbed after everything else had been written so beautifully.

I was very much all in for this story about Juliette, who is told that the paper she is working for is set to close. I was a hundred percent behind her as she fought to be allowed to continue, fighting against that mantra that exists (newspapers are dead. They're not. I love them!!) This was a lovely easygoing warm read that was very much a tonic for me. So enjoyable and so recommended!
