Teasing the Winger: An m/m college sports romance (GSU) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 203 ratings

Falling for a tease is a bad idea, right?

Growing up, all I ever wanted was to play soccer. I know it isn't going to be forever, but while I'm still in college, I am going to give it my all. Just like I’ve always done.

Everything was going according to plan...until the universe decided it would be fun for me to develop feelings for the man I saw as nothing more than an annoyance.

Sasha is the last man I expected to fall for, and when I find out he wants to date me, it leaves me even more confused. Even though I know he’s a good guy, I’m still terrified to trust him with my heart. He isn’t known for being a relationship guy, and that’s the only way I’m built.

We are polar opposites and most likely would never work out. But is he worth the risk?

Rio the soccer player, ask him how he got his nickname someday, it's hilarious, a Sasha the law student/ballet dance teacher have been not really friends but friendly sorta, hanging out together with mutual friends, and one day a accidental touch sparks between them and both afraid to question themselves if they each felt it, different but similar background, different but similar se$$al orientation, things changed and talking to each other helped overcome the hurdles they inadvertently put there, realizing they have more in common and secretly crushed on each other, thrilling college soccer games with a high energy kangaroo mascot that gets the crowd excited, Sasha's past comes to make good on a threat, no more living in fear, amazing story of love, faith, trust, honestly, thank you, I have voluntarily read and review this ARC, thank you for the privilege, Dana Zamora

Rio and Sasha have been sort of friends for a while, mainly because they have mutual friends. Mostly Sasha has crushed on Rio and Rio has found Sasha annoying. However, lately, Rio has been seeing Sasha differently. When Sasha gets a gig as the school’s mascot and starts showing up to all of Rio’s soccer games, the two men start spending even more time together. Soon Rio realizes that he really likes Sasha and Sasha is willing to try dating again.

The two men move slowly in their relationship because Rio is demisexual and Sasha is still scarred from a very bad prior relationship. However, their banter is great and there’s still plenty of heat between them. Sasha is more sexual than Rio, but he’s perfectly willing to move at Rio’s pace. There are also plenty of sweet moments as they get closer and begin to fall in love.

“Teasing the Winger” is a low-angst romance novel between two men go from sort of friends to dating. Sasha was respectful of Rio’s sexuality, which allowed Rio to feel comfortable in their relationship. It’s clear from their first kiss that the men have plenty of chemistry, and the few steamy scenes are well done and enjoyable. The side characters were entertaining and added depth to the story, especially BooBoo and Hailey. I enjoyed reading “Suddenly You” and rate it four stars.

I adored Sasha and Rio's story. Outgoing and effervescent, Sasha cannot help but steal the spotlight wherever he goes. Rio on the other hand, prefers to show off on the soccer field, and fade into the background everywhere else. This friends to lovers trope is well written. Both of these characters have popped up in the previous books in the GSU series. They've danced around one another, pretended to dislike one another in this back and forth melody that finally hits a crescendo in this book. There are several steamy scenes as well as some expertly written vulnerability and character growth.
    Overall wonderful MM sports read.

This romance of a pair of men who have been attracted to each other but are afraid to act on their feelings starts strong. Rio plays college soccer, and, even though he is good, he does not see this path as a career. He has other plans for his future. Rio is demisexual and needs to feel a deep connection before being sexually attracted to someone. He accepts himself and finds it difficult to date because most people aren’t patient enough.
Sasha is a dancer who also has a backup for his career. He loves to dance but wants to be a lawyer. Sasha is a flirt, but that is more of a defense mechanism. We learn early on that he fled due to a very toxic former relationship. Sasha gets a gig as a soccer team’s mascot, which puts him close to Rio. The two see more of each other, and Rio is surprised at the level of his feelings when he realizes he made a rushed judgment about Sasha.
The romance was fine, and I enjoyed the story, but it started to unravel towards the end. A horrible scene played out, and the end results were almost non-existent. What should have been a much bigger deal, not only legally but emotionally, was quickly resolved and felt very unfinished. While the book really did not work for me, it had many good points, and I know others will enjoy it. Happy reading.

This was a cute story that followed Sasha and Rio.

Rio has always been focused on soccer until Sasha came barreling into his life a few years ago and refuses to leave. As the years have gone on his feelings toward Sasha has increased and he finally takes the chance and wants to pursue things further with Sasha.

Sasha has been running from his past for years and has finally settled in to GSU without having to look over his shoulders constantly. Along the way he has made some incredible friends that included Rio. He has always had a little crush on Rio but was always known as the player, since he didn't do relationships due to his toxic last one.

Once these two finally expressed their feelings to each other, I loved watching them fall in love. Both were so patient and kind to each other as they were both dealing with overcoming things. I loved the friends and the found family aspect of GSU.

After getting glimpses of the MMC in this book, I can't wait for more on him in the next book!
