Danny Turner had sex last night. At least, he's pretty sure that's what happened. When he wakes up with blood on his collar and half-fuzzy memories that have nothing to do with alcohol, Danny goes looking for answers and learns that vampires are actually real. Yesterday he was just a regular guy, someone who paid his bills mostly on time and spent his free nights at clubs hosting the local goth scene. Now he’s trapped against his will and trying to separate fact from fiction about a guy who excites him in ways he never knew he could feel.

Rules are important to Liam since they’ve kept him alive for a few hundred years. Feeding on human blood doesn’t have to mean killing, but it definitely doesn’t mean inviting his food to stay. Sometimes he gets carried away hunting in the crowds that flocked to goth clubs, but dealing with a human who came back to find him after partial memory erasure is definitely a first. It didn’t help that this one was more than just a pretty face.

The two of them are stuck together while they figure things out, but the world of vampires isn't all blood and games. Danny is on a clock to prove to Liam that he’s worth the trouble and he’s not good at keeping his hands to himself. Knowing that every time he feeds from Danny the more his free-will becomes corrupted, Liam will have to find a creative solution that doesn’t result in Danny’s death. He'll also have to convince the other vampires that allowing him to keep Danny doesn't mean he's putting a human life above theirs.

Connor Peterson has always found an escape in books. In elementary school, reading kept him out of trouble when he finished his classwork.     Danny, Liam and Mari made me fall into this book and immerse myself In their vampire world.  Amazing story and great characters made it impossible to put this book down until I had read it completely. I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.

    I love reading stories set in places I can get to with my SEPTA transpass. The fact that characters are believable and likeable doesn't hurt.

    4.25* Temptation in Neon follows Danny Turner as he discovers the vampire sub-culture in 1980’s Philadelphia. He goes to his favorite gothic club one evening and wakes up the next day with no memories of the night before and believing it’s an entirely different day. He decides to retrace his steps based on a dream and finds himself in a vampire feeding den searching out someone named Liam.

    Liam is a centuries old vampire Danny meets during a night out. He works for the Marquis of the area and as an employee / loyal subject there are certain strict rules he must follow. He has turned Mari and needs to keep her with him for a total of 20 years prior to taking on another, but he’s only on year 11. Mari grows close to Danny and both Liam and Mari have a hard time wanting to let him go as the Marquis has required.

    Do they let him go or did Danny’s curiosity get him killed this time?

    I really enjoyed this book and would be very excited to see either more of the story between Mari, Danny, and Liam or others in this same created world. I both liked and disliked the ending of this book. It was good to see where the characters ended up, but it seemed to have wrapped up a bit too quickly for the story line. Also, I liked and disliked that the readers were confused and searching just as Danny was in the beginning, though it takes a couple of chapters to get in to the story because of this. Once you get further in the story, you find out why he was completely confused and when you follow his emotions / thoughts through the story, it makes so much more sense and is done very well. Would recommend and read more from this author!
