About the Author

Linda M James is a writer of novels, non-fiction books and screenplays. She has had three books published and written two more. She's also had many short stories and poems published. In 2008 she was commissioned to write three screenplays: Young Ivanhoe, Young Helen of Troy and Jesus Christ: The Missing Years. Young Ivanhoe is being filmed in 2010. Before becoming a writer, Linda was a model, a singer and an English Lecturer.

Linda is a restless soul who roams the world looking for interesting resting places. In her roller-coaster life she’s been a singer, a model, a lecturer and now a writer. She was brought up in Swansea, S. Wales, UK, in a house that overlooked Swansea Bay which gave her a long love affair with the mercurial sea. So much so that she set her two historical novels "THE INVISIBLE PIPER and its sequel "TEMPTING THE STARS in the seaside town of St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, UK during WWII.

Readers have told her that they were fascinated by her characters and by the unknown details she uncovered from reading numerous war-time diaries which she wove into the fabric of the novels.

Linda M James’ intriguing psychological thriller "THE DAY OF THE SWANS" was a finalist in the PEOPLE’S BOOK PRIZE and her gripping crime thriller "A FATAL FAÇADE" was nominated for the Amazon Book Prize.

In 2019/2020, she researched and wrote two linked historical novels set in Vienna, Berlin and Switzerland before WW2 and Brooklyn and London after WW 2. They are being published in 2021 and 2022.

    Had to read this sequel straight away. Didn't want to leave these families struggling through WWII on the South Coast of England without knowing what happens to all of them. It is a book about courage, community, love and survival through impossible situations. I feel much more empathetic towards soldiers today coming back with terrible injuries from war zones. This story is timeless and global. It is an incredibly good read and the research is impeccable. This is how it really was for thousands of people, our grandparents, family, parents and the results of war go on way after the peace treaties are signed. Linda is a master of creation when it comes to her characters and you are right there with them. They're like your own family by the time you finish this second book. My only hope would be to have a third book in the series...

    TEMPTING THE STARS is the sequel to THE INVISIBLE PIPER. by Linda M James.
    Set in World War Two.
    It is the story of John and Mary Adams who have an only child Rob aged 20, who joins the air force at the beginning of the war, desperate to fly spitfires.
    Mary and John take in a ten year evacuee Charlie.

    Rob is badly injured and it is Charlie who helps Rob and his family to come to terms with his injuries.

    This book is excellent. It is moving, humerous, well written and the author's research skills are amazing.

    I recommend both books The Invisible Piper first, then Tempting the Stars
