The Diva and the Grump: A Sweet Rom Com (Too Busy for Love Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 108 ratings

A cross-country book signing road trip. An overzealous stalker. A diva author with an attitude. A bodyguard hired to protect her—that is, if he doesn’t kill her himself first.

When Gabe signed up with Grayson Security, he thought he'd be battling cyber threats, not playing personal bodyguard to a makeup influencer and walking tornado named Ismeralda. But hey, the perks include carrying her three hundred pounds of luggage and chauffeuring her around on her book tour, so it's not all bad, right?

Unfortunately for Gabe, Ismeralda seems determined to make his life miserable. She's got a knack for ignoring instructions and driving him up the wall at every turn. Seriously, if he says left, she goes right—it’s her diva superpower.

Just when Gabe's about to throw in the towel, things escalate when Ismeralda's stalker appears to be threatening Izzie’s every move. Now Gabe's not just protecting Izzie from makeup disasters; he's in full-on bodyguard mode.

As danger lurks around every corner, Gabe starts to realize there might be more to his feelings for Ismeralda than just irritation. In fact, he's falling for her. Will he have to put his own life on the line to protect hers?

The Diva and the Grump is Book 8 in the hilarious Too Busy for Love series. It's a wild ride filled with car chases, stops at eclectic destinations, and quirky fans.

If you love romantic comedies with the perfect blend of laugh-out-loud scenes, a touch of suspense, and heart-warming moments, this book (and this series of clean and wholesome stories) filled with romance and comedy is for you. This full-length novel may be read as a standalone.

Izzie hates flying so decides to road trip across country for her best selling book signings. But she needs a bodyguard to drive her as she has a stalker. Once Gabe and Izzie meet Gabe thinks Izzie is a diva and she thinks Gabe is a grump. On their road trip they meet some of the quirkiest characters from a roadside cafe with the cleanest bathrooms in the world to a couple who have an app that tracks celebrities. Even with a stalker on their tale this is a hilarious fun read. I loved this story. Another masterpiece from this author. This is one of the best sweet hilarious love stories ever.

I flew through this book! Thankfully these books are pretty close to being standalones because it’s been a while since I read Bobbie Sues book.
Izzie is going on a book tour but has recently gotten some threatening emails. Her dad hired a bodyguard to drive her around for the tour.
I loved the little mystery that went along with this story plus the banter was great. These two had me laughing out loud a few times.
This definitely felt like an insta love story and I was a bit surprised by the ending but looking forward to the next book.

This book delivers the same quirky fun of the other books in the series. It takes the popular bodyguard trope and plays with it. There were lots of humorous moments and interactions. The journey the main characters took us on had so many fun elements. There was even a bit of intrigue and adventure. The relationship had great development and romantic intensity, and the characters were engaging. While this book is part of a series, and there is some small carryover, it reads as a standalone very well. This is a closed door romance with mild innuendo and no harsh language.

The Diva and the Grump is a clean, suspenseful, romantic comedy. This book is an unputdownable, laugh out loud, road trip with Izzie and Gabe as he tries to keep his uncooperative charge safe from a stalker. Warning, you may crave junk food while reading! I munched chocolate all the way through and could not put down the book. This well plotted book is a great way to spend an afternoon!

I love Leah Busboom's books, so this is a totally biased opinion. What's not to love about the characters, the storyline or the mystery? Izzie is a perfect diva turned normal woman. Gabe is a swoon-worthy bodyguard turned love interest. Their experiences and dialog are funny, and the threats are real. I loved the surprises along the way as well as the super sweet ending. I am so looking forward to book number 9!

Social media influencer Ismeralda Harrington is embarking on a book tour for her newest makeup and skin care book, but there’s a problem. Izzie has a stalker and has been getting menacing emails that has her apprehensive about going on the book tour, but at this point she has no choice. That’s where Gabe Martin comes in acting as her bodyguard and road trip partner. With a wonderful blend of mystery and plenty of road trip fare, The Diva and the Grump is a delicious mix that is as addictive as your favorite candy bar.

I really love this series, and this novel is especially refreshing. I am a sucker for a good grumpy/sunshine troupe and both characters embody the diva and the grump perfectly. Gabe and Izzie really seem to balance one another nicely and the scenes on the road were some of my favorites. It’s hard not to love these two and there were moments that had me giggling and shaking my head in amusement.

The amount of food that is mentioned in this novel made me hungry every time I read. Just like Izzie I too have a sweet tooth and gravitate to junk food in stressful situations but I’m on a special diet, so I had to live vicariously through Gabe and Izzie and would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit jealous.

I will say, despite loving this novel, the ending was disappointing for me. I felt like certain actions were a little out of character and felt forced and too unrealistic. This made me so sad because I really, truly loved this novel up to this point.

Despite part of the ending not being my cup of tea, I have no regrets about reading this novel. There are some super cute moments, tons of delicious food talk, and characters that you can’t help but love. This series has been such a bright spot in my reading journey this year and I’m already looking forward to reading the next installment.

I enjoyed this humorous romance with an internet sensation and her bodyguard. So many funny situations as they drive through the west on her book tour.

This high quality rom com starts off with a bang, popping with chemistry, humor, and danger. Well written pacing keeps the pages interesting and the tone is funny and upbeat. I'll definitely read more books by this author.
