Friendship turned to love on a summer vacation!
Hands down best series I’ve read in a very long time, Jillian is such a talented writer, and in this book it’s all about family time , spending time with friends , finding your first true love in your best friend . I would highly recommend this book . I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two and I can only hope it’s a steamy intense romantic relationship just like chases parents.

    Amazing, I love these characters.
    The families that were formed and lifelong friendships. So this is like a second-generation love story.
    Chase and Devaney have 3 books out, so I am sure at some point they will get their HEA they just have to work through things as only young love can!

As a friendship grows, so do these characters. This book will have you remembering what if loves again and hoping that the characters can make this summer fling be a forever thing. I have never read an ending to a book that made me want to forget it and re-read it over like it was my first time. The characters pull you in, the family fun makes you laugh, and the love story makes you feel like you are right there rooting for them. Don't let this one pass you by, perfect summer read.

    Chase is probably my favorite character of all the books I've read this year(and with quarantine that's A LOT). I was so excited when I found out this book was happening and I should've known it wouldn't be all sunshine and rainbows (and unicorns). I wanted it just as much as Chase and man was it FRUSTRATING reading through Dani's pov! Girl just let yourself be happy! I know she's a teenage girl but come on! *Edna Mode 'pull yourself together' GIF*. Anywho this book ends in a big 'ol bummer so just prepare yourself for that if you're like me and like everyone to be happy. Good news though is there is another book out next year that I will for sure read and hope it doesn't hurt my heart like this one lol. Also, can we just talk about Dani's little sister's names being a bit horrendous? Just yikes LOL.

    We all dream of a summer like this! Let me preface by saying that i know nothing about this author, but her research helps put you in the story. As a Nebraskan, I appreciate that fizzy beverages are referred to as "pop," and not soda. I have eaten a loose meat sandwich, but only further south and Midwesterners do play washers. The cornfield keggers aren't "really" a thing, but drinking isn't that big of a deal, and parties are easy to find when you're in college. And there's always drama. I'm impressed that the kids want to go to Nebraska for college-athletics are huge here. Of course, the focus is on football(which sucks, but has so much potential...especially since a former school mate is the coach) but the volleyball team is THE best(national champions).
    This story makes your heart tug in your chest as you remember those rare days of our youth when you're carefree and living in the moment. Falling in love in a truck holds a special place in your heart and mind. This book holds you in it a while longer than the brief moment of nostalgia you feel while going down a gravel road. I doubt any of the parents would be so forthcoming as to discuss love and life and sex with young teenagers, but it adds some heartfelt moments to the story. We'll see how it goes in the next book....

    I want to say that I really enjoyed this book. In one aspect I did. It’s well written and I’ve been looking forward to it because I absolutely loved the That Boy series. But I’m having a difficult time enjoying reading sex scenes between 15 & 16 year olds. It just seems wrong. Maybe because I have kids that age, but it just feels wrong to have explicit sexual material written about underage teenagers.
    I thought that it would closer mimic the That Boy series in that the explicit stuff didn’t happen til they were a little older.

    I’m not sure if I will continue with the series or not. It looks like the next book will be with at least Dani being 18. The book definitely tugged on heart strings and I want to see what happens next in their relationship. I just don’t want to read explicit detail about underage sex.

    In true Dodd fashion it was full of laughs tears and angst. I really wish I had waited until That Promise was released to read That Summer. I have been left on a cliffhanger and have to wait 3 months for the rest. I am not patient enough for this.

    I've enjoyed the book because I'm a big fan of Phillip, Danny, Jadyn. I was so excited to meet the next-gen but, have to say, it is not so different from the previous one. I mean Devaney = Jadyn, Chase = Phillip (they are my favorite, Phil is the perfect man and I don't really understand at this point why he doesn't say to his own kid to not waste time, he totally knows how it'll end). By the way, the book has the high school teenage vibe we love the series so much for. Have to say, I can't wait for Demon!

    I have read a few of Jillian Dodd’s books and have really enjoyed them. I felt with this book it was just filled with so many irrelevant words, it was kind of messy. I also felt that it wasn’t very “realistic” as the characters were young but were wise beyond their years. It just didn’t really make sense to me.
