What’s A Caller Gotta Do

Welcome back to the world of the Broken Lands where mythical monsters are adapting to their new place and one Caller stands amidst the changing tides. T.A. White continues Eva's story with her crazy Trateri friends, majestic (and ruthless and snobbish) mythicals, and a growing sense of danger and unease. Acting as the lifeline between a Trateri-Mythical alliance, Eva's adventure lands her in the middle of a dangerous game of chess that the stubborn Kyren are more than happy to let her play blind. While she struggles to balance what is expected of her and her own vision of success, secretive powers are at play that could spell more than just a loss of alliance, but a loss of life. Everything is not what it seems once again in the Broken Lands and Eva must learn her place as a Caller and a Trateri before all that could be is lost.
Personally, I wasn't sure if the next Broken Lands book would continue Eva's story or move on to another character. However, White spins a story that naturally progresses and evolves as Eva learns more about herself and her place among the mythicals. A deeper look into the intricates of mythical societies throughout this book highlights White's incredible skill of worldbuilding. Her characters are unique, realistic, flawed, and oh so clever. The basic understanding and foundation White laid in Eva's first book, The Wind’s Call, sets the stage for an exploration of mythological beings that the reader cannot help but be consumed by. While the action of this book is more built towards politics and little intricacies, White still allows Caden to play with his weapons.
Overall, another all-nighter, what's-going-to-happen-next, classic T.A. White that will leave readers scrambling to put together the dots and craving for more.
