The Chauffeur Did It: Felicity Philips Investigates Book 8 Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,050 ratings

Marriage? It can be absolute murder.

When the bride leaves her house in a vintage Rolls Royce, she seems giddy with excitement, and the wedding party at the church think nothing of her late arrival; that’s just tradition, right?

However, when the clock keeps ticking and the vintage cars fails to appear, it soon becomes clear that something untoward has befallen the bride.

Fingers are pointed in every direction, but who is really to blame? Has she been kidnapped? Where is the ransom note?

Under self-imposed pressure to figure out what happened, Felicity sets out with her team to find the truth ... and the bride.

She has a cast of suspicious characters to sift through, but nothing could have prepared her for the truth.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Are you sure? Felicity ends up with more suspects than even usual for her! They ALL make sense, but she's wrong, as usual!! Buster & Amber try to help naturally, but are trying to better each other even more! Which ends in a big surprise for Buster! Another "win" for Felicity & clan inevitably. I'd expect no different! Recommended for anyone who likes cozy mysteries or chaotic comedies, especially when they are combined!

(Mr. Higgs, thank you for having a Mrs. George in this book! ❤)

Ok how many different people were in that amazing royal car? But then what happened to the bride? Will Felicity's wedding planner event ever not have so many crazy things happen. Will Vince ever get more than a kiss? Hope springs eternal and that's what I'm sticking to!

In the latest “Felicity Philips Investigates” novel by Steve Higgs - Felicity has a problem the bride is missing. Not just late- but missing- the chauffeur and bride are nowhere to be found but the car has run into a tree- Now everyone is trying to discover where she is. Once again Felicity’s pets and gang have a mystery to solve - hopefully before a body is found. This was a fast paced mystery and am looking forward to the next. Want to thank S Higg for putting his books in kindle unlimited

Funny story with lots of twists and turns. So many different things happening at one time. Buster and Amber have their own story unfolding at the same time, too. Really enjoyable cozy mystery.

I love Steve Highs and read all his books. Felicity is my least favourite however. She's definitely no Patricia! She has some awesome support from Amber,Buster and Mindy. Not to mention Vince. And I do wish shed stop referring to herself as short! She's several inches taller than an average female. Its a bit vain and silly to pretend that you can't see or some other thing to excuse her silly assumptions. I love her pets but feel they talk to her because she seriously needs their help with her lack of brain power.

As always, Steve engages us in yet another fine mystery with humor, intrigue and a bit of tongue in cheek. I would have read it in one sitting if not for keeping my husband awake with the reading light.

It's funny how wrong Felicity can get, but in the end it's pretty funny the pets save her. And thru it all we can still say we hate Quinn!!!

So much fun, several laugh out loud moments, I'd love to attend one of Felicity's weddings for the shear entertainment value, seems crime has gone up in the world and moved from the butler to the Chauffeur, sit back and let them take you for a drive through this one.
