The Devil Gets His Due: A Grumpy Billionaire Romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 7,888 ratings

An accidental pregnancy, grumpy-sunshine romance
Keeley:
Last January, I drunk-married my nemesis—hot, oversized geek Graham Tate. With no memory of how it came about, there was only one solution: run off before he woke up and pretend it didn’t happen. It would have worked perfectly if I hadn’t wound up pregnant.

Graham is the opposite of everything I want in a man—practical, disciplined, frugal—but living with him until the baby arrives has me wondering if, perhaps, I’ve been wanting the wrong things all along. And if that drunk version of me last January might have been onto something.

Graham: I never planned to have kids, and I certainly wouldn’t have planned on one with Keeley Connolly—a woman who does not believe in savings accounts or personal safety and thinks Lucky Charms is a health food because of the non-marshmallow bits.

A woman who also didn’t think twice about marrying me in Vegas and ditching me hours later.

I can’t wait to put this behind me and return to my careful, chaos-free life in New York. But the more time I spend with Keeley, the more I’m remembering the things that led me to marry her in the first place…and wondering if I can live without them when this ends.

Review

"This just may be my favorite of the series...The banter was hilarious and watching Keely and Graham go from true enemies to friends to lovers was perfection."
Exercise.Read.Repeat

"Wow! I could not put this book down! ...The chemistry between Graham and Keeley was electric and tense. Keeley was ridiculously amusing, but it was Graham's indulgent forbearance that really made me swoon."
Reading Willing and Able

"When I say that I loved this book, I mean I completely devoured this book in one sitting!... But Graham, oh how I loved him so. The way he cared for her, stood up for her... my heart melted."
Ruth's Romances

"The chemistry, the swoon, the characters, the plot and the setting, everything was just perfection! Graham & Keeley just stole my heart the moment they met."
Travelogged Blogs

"So I say it with each book but THIS is my new favorite. I devoured this book I could not put it down. O'Roark has pulled out all the stops and she made me cry... it is SO GOOD!"
Shhh Moms Reading

"The banter that is so integral to every single book in this series is as viciously sparkling as ever. All this combined with Keeley and Graham's stupidly electric chemistry is a recipe for fireworks on the page and butterflies in your tummy, even before they do anything scandalous."
Nikita Navalkar

"Full of heart, full of heat, and with her trademark snarky wit and a heavy heap of heartfelt emotions, I just fell madly in love with this story. Easily a top 2022 read!"
Jen's Dreamy Little Reads

"Graham, this guy is DREAMY. He's everything you want in a husband and father. He was amazing and the way these two compliment each other *swooooon* ... This whole book felt like a warm cozy blanket and I wanted to stay under that blanket forever."
RomanceAddictscape Cave

"This one is my fav. I say that with every one of these books but HOLY CRAP!... This book was SO PERFECT surprise baby and all!!!"
Good Books Tasty Tea

"You're telling me I stayed up past 6 am reading this like a love sick fool?? Yes I am and yes I did and no I have no regrets. Graham and Keeley were perfection."
Stephanie, Goodreads

"I honestly didn't think I could love this book as much as I did A Deal With the Devil, especially because an accidental pregnancy trope is one of my least favorite tropes, and yet I absolutely loved this book."
Bookstagrambrielle

"What do you get when you combine enemies to lovers, accidental pregnancy and Elizabeth O'Roark together? Per-freaking-fection! Add on a deliciously grumpy hero and a hilarious heroine with great fashion sense and I was seriously hooked."
FilthyLittleReader

"Are you in need of a book that will make you stay up till 3am, wanting to stop and go to sleep all the time but you're having the best time reading so you just can't stop? Well yeah this book it is....I can only urge everyone to read it cause this book was the highlight of my day. My week. Probably my month."
Another Reading Blonde

"This is such a sweet slow burn. When that control of Graham's finally snapped, I COULD NOT DEAL. The way little snippets of their one night stand would be shared but nothing more had me pantingggggg for that moment."
Madison, Goodreads Reviewer

"The banter and sexual tension in this book is delicious. I laughed so many times during their exchanges...Trust me! You don't want to miss out on this one!"
AFlowersReads

"I loved these characters so much! The way the story unfolded and how we discovered not only about the characters but about the truth just had me floored!"

Elizabeth O'Roark has a bunch of degrees she does not use and gave up working as a medical writer to craft grumpy, alpha heroes and the flawed women who love them. When not writing, she likes to spend time with her three kids, who are now teenagers and wish she'd find a different way to spend time. She can be found on Facebook feverishly debating whether or not "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie and telling people to read "The Hating Game", which she did not write but wishes she had.

Graham Tate…what is it about these grumpy men that just call to me like a moth to a flame? It also didn’t hurt that he was a secret dirty talker and sweet romantic. Cue all the swoon. There were so many sides to him that you don’t see when you first meet him, but with every layer peeled back, was another thing that had me falling harder. Keeley Connolly was vivacious with this infectious personality. I just loved her energy. Totally the woman you’d love having as your bestie, she was steadfast and there would never be a dull moment. She kept Graham on his toes and I loved seeing her rile him up. But, he gave just as good as he got. Though she came off as fun loving, there was more to her than meets the eye. Their drunken night in Vegas surprised them with a lifelong souvenir and challenged them in the most unexpected ways. Both Keeley and Graham were very resistant to all things love, marriage and commitment which of course means they’re going to fall the hardest and boy did they fall. But, Keeley and Graham ended up being just what the other needed. There was no lack of all the feels to be had with this one. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love about this book so I warred between devouring and savoring it. “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙤 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨.”

Keeley Connolly may be a doctor by trade, but she's a free spirited girl who is looking for a good time with an eye for brand name fashion. In a nutshell, Keeley is hilarious (she gives off Elle Woods vibes). To Graham Tate, she is complete chaos and a hot mess with how flighty and whimsical she seems with her inability to adult. This is the exact opposite of him, who has a very solid stock portfolio and assesses every risk and analyzes the statistics before any kind of gamble. Graham likes his life to be orderly and structured, because he needs predictability and stability. Keeley offers none of those things, but as much as she is wild, she is also fascinating and exciting because there is never a dull moment around her. Graham is way overdue for fun and frivolous and Keeley reminds him of how life can be unpredictable and colorful. I loved their chemistry and dynamic. Keeley never ceased to amaze me with her wide eyed wonder and appreciation for the small things, which made her seem flaky and superficial, but was really an exuberance for simple pleasures. When it comes to being a doctor, she is professional and knowledgable, which is at odds with her out-of-the-office personality, yet I really liked this contrast. Graham tries to keep up with Keeley and even strategize on how to sway her after their drunken mishap results in a permanent addition. Instead, he discovers that despite Keeley's boisterous personality, she really needs the solid support of a safe space. I adored Graham because he really did play the long game and simply let Keeley be herself once he realized that she could make mature decisions when push comes to shove. The dialogue is hysterical and feels as though the characters are talking in a sitcom with the witty banter, sexual tension and body language, yet there's also a palpable emotion that cuts straight to the heart. I could not get enough of their conversations and seductive charm, yet there are definite vulnerable, swoony and sweet moments, too, to make Graham and Keeley even more lovable. Another fantastic addition to the fabulous Devil series and with this kind of momentum, I cannot wait to see what Elizabeth O'Roark has in store next.

A hate to love relationship. A man being so patient waiting for the woman he cares for to decide that she wants him as much as he does her .I got a little disappointed with lack of communication between the two and how ridiculous Kelly acts towards Graham. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

It’s hard to love a book when the FMC is so unlovable, I get that her loss, childhood issues etc caused her traumas but I’ve never read a FMC that not even in her internal dialogue was redeemable. I did love the MMC he was dreamy. But unfortunately their love fell flat for me. The last five chapters save the little i liked about this book, it’s a 2.5 for me

Reviewed in Brazil on January 29, 2025
This is a really lovely story.
But the "devil" in the title doesn't actually fit at all...
He's grumpy, yes, but not in a devious way.
They are great, have spark and chemistry. e can see how much they grow so much and learn much from each other.
Sometimes I got divided, seeing her too shallow and she seemed so like "Rebecca" (the Shopaholic) Other times, she was a big hearted sunshine. She just outshined him in the story, so that the title being about him made no sense to me.
Just thought she could have left the job earlier and met Dr. Patel to come up with a new career plan... also I wish having seen some more bits from him, his work, family, his background, more of his interaction with Mark (and something about the investments Mark was dealing for her and who he really was)...

5.0 out of 5 stars Graet Female Character!!
Reviewed in Mexico on April 26, 2023
I just read all four books in this series and the female characters are great but Keely is by far my favorite she has such a fun personality such a unique sense of humor the author really pulled off such a real character that what she was doing made so much sense And at the end of how many is when you know that a character is well achieved. Elizabeth O Roark's stories have the perfect balance within a romance novel, a story that supports the characters, emotions that are strong enough to give depth to the story but without consuming you in a drama, and especially the scenes of love, she knows that we want it, it is the story of love and she gives it to us!!!

    4.0 out of 5 stars C'était si bon ! ♥
Reviewed in France on February 28, 2025
