The Faker: A Marriage of Convenience Hockey Romance (Boston Hawks Hockey Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 533 ratings

NHL hotshot Torsten Hansen is a lot of things. My husband shouldn't be one of them.

One emotional night slinging tequila shots and singing karaoke with the Hawks defenseman turns into more than I bargained for. A wicked hangover, an eviction notice, and a marriage proposal.

If Torsten and I wed, he can fulfill a promise to his grandmother and the debt I'm drowning in will be paid by his trust fund. It's a win-win, an easy and straightforward arrangement between friends.

So what if my
friend has piercing blue eyes, a sensual smirk, and a body that occupies my dreams? It shouldn't matter that Torsten understands my past and makes me feel safe.

Except it does. Because if I give my heart to my husband, how will I survive our eventual divorce?

Torsten has created a life for himself both with the Boston Hawks and in the US for the last two decades. Due to his age and the effect that playing hockey has had on his body he knows that he is reaching the twilight of his career which means he may no longer be able to stay. When he learns about Rielle’s situation, he believes that marriage will solve both their problems however he wasn’t expecting new ones to arise.

Rielle finds herself in a dire financial situation with not a lot of options. When she runs into one of her brother’s teammates a little alcohol allows her to open up and his suggestion seems like a win-win for both of them but keeping their hearts out of the scenario is proving to be more difficult than they expected.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Torsten and Rielle unfold as what was supposed to be convenient is turning out to be anything but. They are both what the other didn’t know they needed in their lives but the road to true love is never smooth.

Friends to lovers has never looked so good! With the third book in her highly addictive Boston Hawks Hockey series Gina Azzi brings on the steaminess when rugged party guy meets sassy go-getter and sparks ignite in THE FAKER!

Torsten is the guy everyone loves. He plays hard on and off the ice, but times are changing and his life is about to be in limbo.

Rielle is feisty and real and getting to know the softer underside of her was really sweet. I enjoyed her characters growth very much.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who loves a side of drama with their hockey romance. You are always guaranteed a happily ever after, but it might not be easy getting there.

I had been waiting for Torsten's story since we were introduced to him back in The Sweet Talker. There was just something about him, that drew me in, and I had to know more.

That being said, I adored Torsten and Rielle's story. Adored it. Was bummed when it was over. The Faker gave me everything I wanted. Such a good story.

A marriage of convenience that is meant to get them both the life they want, but when the feelings turn real and an end date still looms, what will they do?

Rielle may believe she’s messed up her whole life, but I think she’s pretty awesome. She’s strong, independent, and knows when to put her foot down. I love how she dealt with her boss and his sexual harassment, and I love even more how Torsten went in and backed her up. He made a stand that left them no option to sweep it under the rug! These are two amazing characters that feel so deep but for every step forward they take there is something waiting to push them back. There are so many times I wanted to reach into the pages and knock them upside the head and tell them to just talk to each other! But once they did- boy did they get it all right! Their relationship ends up being the stuff fairy tales are made of! This couple may seriously be one of my favorite ever!
If you haven’t read this series... go do it now! Every single book Gina Azzi has written is amazing and this one is no different! You won’t want to miss it!

This is Gina’s third book in the Boston Hawks series. I have loved all of them, but I think this one might be my favorite thus far. I knew that I was going to fall in love with Torsten. But I wasn’t prepared to want to be BFF’s with Rielle! The pair have mutual friends, and have spent time together in the past. But it isn’t until a night of drinking and shenanigans does the idea form to marry…..at the mutual satisfaction of both parties.
Rielle is one of the strongest female characters I have read in a while, and I love how determined she is to make it on her own. My heart hurt for her as the world she carefully crafted was crumbling around her. She was too prideful to let on to others that she was struggling to keep up. Torsten noticed, and wanted nothing more than to step in and help, but his world was also slowly coming undone.
I loved how Gina not only brought these two together, but how their relationship grew. They had amazing chemistry and a deep connection but they also had a great friendship. Torsten is a natural caretaker, and loves to love people. From the start he embraces he and Rielle’s life together, and is just really the sweetest. Torsten is definitely high on the book boyfriend list…..and when it gets steamy it is steamy!!! I also enjoyed how previous characters in the series played a role in their lives and relationship. Claire made me laugh on several occasions, and I love how she showed up for Rielle.
I am a sucker for a marriage of convenience, and this one was stellar! I would recommend this series and book to anyone that loves some romance with their hockey! The books build on each other, and I love how we get snippets of characters in previous books and she teases us for the next books in the series! The characters have a lot of chemistry and the steamy scenes are hot but in no way take away from the storyline!

Though I really liked the two previous books in this series, this wasn’t a book I could appreciate as much.
There’s a marriage of convenience (which I honestly always love as a trope!) but also a 12+ years age gap and that doesn’t fare well with me, especially when reading sports romance (cringe). Also, both MCs are LOADED and i didn’t like the resolution of the book (don’t want to spoiler, but life’s easy when you’ve got a rich family). All in all, this wasn’t for me, but I’m invested enough in this series that I’ll still read the next book.

Gina Azzi has written a fabulous story that starts with the necessity of a fake marriage that develops into so much more for the two main characters. What Rielle and Torsten most want is right under their noses, if they only look hard enough. After all, it takes two to make the perfect couple.

What do you do when you keep getting eviction notices pinned to your apartment door, your boss keeps hitting on you and your debts are piling up? You drown your sorrows with shots of really good tequila and hope that they disappear. Especially when you do shots with a Norwegian god of a defenseman who is battling too many years of injuries while playing hockey and a possible trip back to his homeland. Rielle and Torsten come up with a mutually beneficial marriage agreement that will see Torsten being able to stay in the US married to her in exchange for him paying off Rielle's outstanding student loan. What neither of them bargain on is a little thing called emotions that interfere with their agreement. They discover that love crosses the boundaries they set for themselves but they don't dare voice those feelings. When they both want the relationship to be real, that's when the real work begins. Unfortunately, the best laid plans don't always come to fruition and hearts can be hurt. Will they ever be able to find their happily ever after without clearing the air between them?

This book brought out the deep emotions in me. I was rooting for the home team as they played for their Stanley Cup and I absolutely cheered for Rielle and Torsten to find love. There are always wins and losses when reading and this one definitely goes in the win column. Five stars all the way!

This is the story of Torsen Hansen and Rielle Carter and NHL hockey player.

Torsen’s career as a hockey player was coming to an end due to his age and the fact that he wasn’t recovering from injuries as easily and as he wasn’t a USA native he would have to return to his country of Oslo Norway. The only way he could stay would be to get married and get a green card.

She was facing eviction and losing everything she had. They could help each other. He would give her somewhere to live and she would marry him and they both solved the problems they had.

He decided it would be a two year marriage, sex would be off the table, just two friends helping each other. But it wasn’t that simple. Feelings get involved, they fall for each other
