A Failing Condition (The Five Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

Following the objectionable actions of the Council, the Five are no longer hunted and they appear to have found some semblance of peace. While dealing with the pain of losing loved ones, Georgiana, Sky, Ryan, Aidan, Alexis and Henry try to get back what sense of normality they can get.
But peace isn't possible as Aidan returns sick from a visit to his parents, a situation that is strange because weres aren't meant to be sick, least of all the Five.
Other students show symptoms that can't be attributed to any known and treatable disease, Georgiana is attacked, Sky must face her demons, Ryan tries to deal with the search for his missing mother, and Henry starts a new relationship that Georgiana is uncertain of. And no matter how hard they try to get to the bottom of things they must all deal with the past before they are able to face the issues that arise.

“Are you ready, Geo?” Ryan Forde’s pronunciation of her name sounded like ‘Jo.’
Georgiana Smith liked it. He was the only one to call her that, and she’d gotten used to it by the second time he’d said it. Now she wouldn’t have him call her any other way.
“Might as well, right?” she shrugged and he nodded.
Before they stepped out of the cluster of trees and into the round, ten-feet-wide clearing that surrounded Woodbridge, she reached for his hand and pulled him to her.
Dawn had broken an hour earlier, and mid-March in Colorado the temperature was comfortable enough given their bodies and the simple clothes they wore. Both clad in long-sleeved t-shirts, jeans and light sweaters, Chucks on their feet, their backpacks on the ground next to them, they faced each other.
At five foot five, Georgiana had to tilt her head so that she could stare into Ryan’s big dark green eyes, as he was five foot ten. She looked at his snub nose that she found both manly and cute, the full lips that wouldn’t stop tempting her, the stubble that had grown over the past couple of weeks that he hadn’t been shaving off like he did during school time, and the medium beige complexion that was a bit more tanned than usual because of the time they’d spent outdoors as humans.
Georgiana entwined her fingers in his dark brown curls and he let her pull his head down for a kiss.
Their lips meshed together, soft, warm, caring, enjoying the contact in a relaxed manner, his hands traveling down her back and cupping her butt, while her left roamed the taut muscles in his back and his wide shoulders, her right holding onto the back of his head.
The kiss deepened and they forgot everything as they clung to each other, their bodies leaving no space between them.
Despite the need, they pulled apart after a few minutes, their breaths hitched, their lips swollen.
Without letting go of her, Ryan rubbed his nose against hers and planted a quick kiss on her forehead. They embraced and closed their eyes, only feeling each other.

When I look back at any time in my life, there’s always a book or notebook around. I grew up surrounded by books (I inherited my parents’ voraciousness for literature), and at some point of my youth I also started writing my own stories.

I have a terrible memory, but I distinctly remember using my father’s typewriter to create fictional stories. They were short and sometimes they were just a re-telling of a TV show I was watching at the time.

But, nonetheless, the reading and writing stuck around.

As a teen I went through reading phases (I only read Agatha Christie for a whole year), and as I got older, I started reading different genres and authors. At school, I loved creative writing assignments and was once told by a teacher that given the lengths of what I wrote, I would be taking her weekend away. I also wrote a short novel at 11 or so, and though I’d be embarrassed to read it now because it must have had a bucketload of errors, I remember receiving support at school.

I became an Editor (Universidad de Buenos Aires) and then earned a Master’s Degree in English Language (Universidad de Belgrano), and after some work experience at different publishing houses, I spent all of ten minutes realizing that instead of devoting myself 100% to editing others’ novels, I would rather spend some time on writing my own.

I officially decided to become a writer at 26, and while at first I published under a pseudonym (Abby Barly), I finally started with The Last Summer and then decided to work on The Five series (after I got my eldest niece to read them and approve their publishing).

Now I can’t see myself doing anything other than what I’m doing, which is something I love.

The Five are no longer being hunted by the Council and hope to find some normalcy amongst their peers. While they try to find some peace and deal with the loss of loved ones, Aidan (one of the Five) returns to school sick after visiting his family. The situation is concerning as the special weres are not known to get sick or unable to shake illness. When other students show strange symptoms and odd behavior, the Five find themselves hunting the unknown.

Ryan and Georgiana move forward in their relationship and find clues to his missing mother, while Henry tries to move on from his failed relationship with Georgiana and begins dating someone questionable. What will all of this lead to?

This is the third book in The Five saga and it continues to keep this reader’s interest. There is a number of different plotlines going on which adds to the action, suspense, and adventure. It ends with a cliffhanger that has you wondering what more the Five and their friends will be facing in the future.
