    The Gambler: A Dark Forced Marriage Romance by A. X. Cole is the first installation in her Atlantic Courts Series. Not having read any of the works by this author, I purchased the book because it featured an IR couple, I READ it because it is an outstanding book. The book is also described as a slow burn romance and if the burn was any slower, we would only have hot ashes! However, I enjoyed every dysfunctional, borderline toxic, obsessive moment. After a catastrophe loss, Zenith Derosier has moved to the US and in a bid to remain safe, she enters a marriage contract with the much older Joseph. On the same day that she is to sign the contract, enigmatic and compelling Rian Court comes into her world. For the next three years as he conducts business with Joseph, they dance around each other longingly. They engage in snarky dialogue and sly flirting. Rian is such an interesting character; he cares for his ragged band of adopted siblings (almost all, Decker is another story) …each with their own trauma and peculiarities. The siblings appear in the successive stories in the series, so readers will get to fill in the blanks of their connections and see the action from other viewpoints. Achingly sweet (if dark) Rian finds completion with Zenith; how far will he go to make her his? And how far is too far?
