As a consultant with a "big four" firm, Peter specialized in corporate reconstructions, recoveries, and liquidations. Depending on the circumstances, he was a surgeon chopping away excess fat, a lifeguard giving mouth to mouth resuscitation, or a funeral director conducting burials.

As a forensic investigator and expert witness, he testified in the courts about the reasons for corporate collapses.

Later he became CEO of one of his recovery clients, Australia's largest heavy transport equipment designer and manufacturer, which he successfully floated as a public company.

He has a background well suited to writing corporate and crime thrillers. In 2012, the Fellowship of Australian Writers commended him for his novel about unconventional gas, Dirty Fracking Business.

What an excellent account of elder abuse that clearly does effect many in our lives today! You will be horrified but some events, work right beside Josh Kennelly in others, be delighted and scared to death - BUT, you will think of moments you have noticed and said nothing...Wishing you had a person to stand with you to make things Right!! Well, in this story we meet that person...
Josh was a hero in the military, but never wants to hear that, what he wants to do is help those who have no one to turn to. His girlfriend calls him a 'Problem Solver', and boy does he take it to heart! With some great skills, and imaginative forming of a way to attack, he takes on the case of a war vet whose Dad has been taken by a ' guardian' he never asked for or needed!
So many twists in amazing scenes, you feel the pain and disbelief of folks dragged into a situation they never asked for, because Someone, - a hospital, a police officer - noticed they had a large amount of money!
You definitely need to experience the entire thrilling, story, I read it in one sitting- Such an outstanding book!! 5 STARS all the way!!
I received an ARC from this fantastic author, who I thank for so many feelings while reading, and I give You my honest and true feelings and thoughts in this review. Open this book, you will be on your own adventure...

This is my first book by this author, but it will definitely not be my last. Mr. Ralph has taken a frightening and current issue, that of court appointed guardianships, and skillfully woven a thought-provoking, completely captivating, outrage-inducing work of fiction. The underlying concept of guardianships and their potential as instruments of legal theft and abuse has, sadly, become a widespread, yet fairly unrecognized, plague preying on the elderly segment of our population. Most people who read this book will probably think that this couldn’t possibly happen in reality but even a cursory search on the internet will lead to a vast wealth of information confirming this treachery as both real and ongoing. I applaud Mr. Ralph’s efforts at bringing this important issue to the attention of his readership. This is a well-written fast-paced story that will hold your attention from the first page to the last. The main character, Josh Kennelly, is a wonderfully likable veteran who goes the extra mile to help out a fellow vet when that man’s father falls victim to the guardianship trap. I have a feeling that this story will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading.

I was provided with a free advance copy of this book but decided to purchase a copy to start my Josh Kennelly collection and I am voluntarily offering this honest and unbiased review.

If you find this review helpful, I thank you for so indicating.

I am loving this series! The books are great mysteries. They are not a regular mystery but very unique. I really like the storylines. The characters are very well developed and I feel like I know them personally. I really admire the two main characters. They are a lovely couple.
The dialogue flows freely and smoothly. The editing is clean with few grammatical errors. I highly recommend this book to anyone. I am downloading the next one as soon as I finish this review.

I always learn so much in such an entertaining way. This book in particular was a revelation. It is just incredible the lengths to which some people will go to make money no matter how much it harms someone else. 60 Minutes should really do a story on the guardianship racket.

Another engaging tale of the reluctant, self-doubting military hero who does whatever it takes to keep a promise and get the job done. In this third Kennelly book, we find Josh Kennelly dealing with the type of unconscionable abuse of the guardianship process that is so often ignored by the community. A grand conspiracy of the legal profession to deny your human rights -- until you can't pay another dime. Based on true stories, this book will educate as well as entertain.

The Guardian is fiction. The premise of the book is not. Guardians are real and extremely scary. In this novel Josh Kennelly is an American war veteran who helps families facing guardianship. This is the third book in the Josh Kennelly Financial Thrillers series and it is extremely powerful. These people definitely need the help of a decorated hero. Peter Ralph has crafted a thrilling story that will keep you riveted till the last page.

I thoroughly enjoy all of Peter Ralph's books and his Josh Kennelly series does not disappoint.

Like his other books this was a binge read, interrupting whatever I was reading when The Guardian came out. Now I'll go back to other books and wait for the next Josh Kennelly or any other book that Peter Ralph chooses to grace us with is published.

I stayed up late to finish this, as I couldn’t wait until morning. An awesome thriller. It sickens me to think such events can happen in life. So plausible, so powerful & so well written.
