4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 6,169 ratings

Chloe is serving a life sentence. In her own home.

Ever since the horrific day her mother died, Chloe's life has been anything but normal - more like a carefully constructed prison. Her father hasn’t let her go to school, have friends or leave the house alone.

As she grows up, Chloe begins to question the motives behind her dad's obsessive control. What would happen if she broke one of his many rules? And what exactly is he hiding under the overgrown grass in the back garden?

When new neighbors arrive next door, they trigger a chain of events that causes Chloe to suspect her father's motives are far darker than she knew.

Now she faces the terrifying consequences of defying the man who controls her every waking moment. Will she risk everything to win her freedom or will her father’s dark secrets keep her captive forever?

The Guilty Girl – the shocking psychological thriller perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Kiersten Modglin and Daniel Hurst.

Just dove into this book by a suggestion in a group. Good read wish they would have went into the mental illness aspect more. I'm not sure the twist is really a twist just how the story plays out.

Very slow. It was easy to figure out what was going on, so no surprise or twist. Not a bad novel, would have been better if it was shorter. One big question--why is there a teddy bear on the front cover when there's no teddy bear in the novel? The child in the novel was attached to her bunny. Cover seems way off.

It was riveting not knowing how each day would turn out , esp. Having a traumatized girl existing isolated from the world. The girls point of view was realistic and believable. Not so thrilled with how it all unwound.

This book was excellent. A huge plot twist as well that I didn’t expect, but I need to know more! What happened with Matt?? It was like he just disappeared at the end. I want to know more about Ruby’s father and Marie’s relationship as well. The ending was also a cliffhanger. Is there a second book?

Took me a little while to get into the story & relate to the characters, but as it unfolded the heartbreak for Chloe the deception involved drew me further in. The ending twist was unexpected & I’ve read many a story, where I have guessed the plot prior. Accolades to the author.

Good book easy story to follow, with excellent twists.
Having to try and except being locked up for so long, then finding out that you live has been a lie, covered up by your father, to cover his own lies

Good plot but the lack of verb contractions, especially in dialogue, made it feel stilted. Strange ending, as if the author thinks a sequel will come from it.
