The Homecoming: Stories of Hope, Redemption, and Second Chances Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 605 ratings

Can she surrender a life of fame and fortune to find true love?

After leaving the small sleepy town of Shelton for the big city, Kayla McCormack struck it big time in the music industry. Her new life gave her everything she needed and wanted… fame, fortune, and fun. She even snagged a famous movie star for a boyfriend.

Just one problem – he’s married, and her conservative Christian parents don’t approve.

Dane Carmichael has had a crush on Kayla since she performed in the school Talent Show at age ten. Now carrying a war wound, Dane’s life revolves around the group of young teens he mentors at church, instilling in them the importance of remaining pure and following Jesus and not the world.

When Kayla rushes home to visit her father after receiving devastating news, she and Dane reconnect. His simple faith and life fascinate but scare her.

Kayla is challenged to assess her chosen lifestyle, but she’s also harboring a secret. She can’t forgive herself for what she did, so how can she expect God to? As He gently draws her to Himself, molding and shaping her, just like Dane does with his pots, she begins to understand how forgiving, loving and kind He really is.

Let this Christian romance warm your heart and draw you close to the One who loves you without condition. The Homecoming is Book 1 of “The Potter’s House Books”, stories of love, hope, redemption, and second chances.

This book blessed my world.

This book blessed my world.
I think if this is any indication of Potter books to come, there will be nothing but baskets full and running over of happy people to get to read thus.. I lived the way she presented Characters and kept me eager for the rest of the story. Love for the Lord was presented in such a way as would help others learn of God. I recently lost my 58 year old daughter but know after five years of cancer battles Les she is smiling into the eyes of God. It is a blessing to know where she is. I just bought the paperback for my other daughter as she doesn't do e-books i am a simplistic writer, drawer, and watercolorist that loves God. I am 78 years old and a handicapped retired nurse. Can only add that God is good. Thanks sweetie for this wonderful refreshing book. Just what the world needs. All this is my personal opinion, but thinking many more will share it.

I absolutely loved The Homecoming! This was actually my second time reading the book and I found that I enjoyed it just as much this time. Juliette Duncan's heartwarming story reminded me of God's truth in so many ways. Kayla had strayed from God and His love, seeking happiness in the world by becoming a popular musical artist and even dating a married man. Upon receiving a call about her dad's declining health, she returned to her family and her small home town to be there for her father. Feeling completely out of place and most unworthy to even be in her parents' home, she had an unexpected reunion with Dane, who had harbored a crush on Kayla since he was a boy. She barely remembered him from school, but he vividly remembered her. Having strayed from the Gospel himself during his time in the Marines, Dane nearly lost his leg in a terrible fight that resulted from his ungodly lifestyle. Afterwards, God did a marvelous work in Dane's life and he was now living completely for Him and serving Him in every possible way. Dane used his talents as a potter to show Kayla, and the teen boys in his after school church group, how God can remove the impurities from each of us and make us stronger for HIm. It took her father's illness to bring her back home, but Kayla began to open her heart up to God's love once again, and eventually asked Jesus to save her and remove the impurities of her heart. She found a new love for God and also for Dane and her family and finally discovered that her true happiness was only found in Him. The Homecoming receives my highest recommendation.

This is a beautiful story of redemption. Dane has come through his darkest hours and know God can work miracles of forgiveness in the life of any person. Kayla is still in her dark place and is fighting to stay there as she has decided she does not believe in God. When the two meet they become good friends and Dane helps Kayla see the love God has for her and His desire to bring her into His family of believers. The is journey not an easy one for either of them. This is an inspirational romance. As all of this author's books, it is a clean read.

A story of second chances, both for the prodigal child, as well as the "boy next door." Kayla Mac is a superstar, a musician taking the world by storm. She is also a child of God, and of earthly parents who are none too fond of the lifestyle she is living, and the choices she has made. Kayla comes home from her music tour after receiving some disturbing news from her mom. Her dad, who has always been her champion, is happy to see her, but she's not certain about her mom's feelings about her visit. Kayla escapes from the house into the potter's studio of Dane, a hometown "boy next door" kind of guy she went to high school with, but doesn't really remember. Their resulting relationship has highs and lows, fits and starts. I kind of feel like Dane's character is a bit too easy going, and a bit too ready to accept Kayla into his life, flaws and all. I think a bit more tension and struggle in that relationship, particularly from Dane's perspective would truly make this a 5 star book. I definitely enjoyed the book, and would welcome a sequel to this story.

Kayla and Dane’s story is truly amazing. Kayla has lived a life that her family and friends didn’t approve of. When her father gets sick her life will change. The way Dane helped her will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. The characters in this story are very special people. You will feel God working throughout this whole book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

I actually accidentally came across Ms. Duncan's books. This book especially spoke to me. I love that it is Christ centered. Scriptures are used throughout the whole story. The book is about a wild wayward daughter whose father never have up on her. Just like our heavenly father. I'm so hooked on Ms. Duncan's books and style of writing that I can't put them down! Thank you for showing God's redemption throughout all your books. Good had blessed you with a special gift.

Okay I think I found a new favorite series. Each chapter started with a verse and you see it playing out. Kayla has been away from God and home in pursuit of a singing career but comes home because her father has cancer. What follows is tear stained wonder and joy. I appreciate this very real Prodigal daughter story

This story reminded me of God's goodness and love. In this day and age it's so easy to get distracted and forget He's in control and only wants what is best for his children. I usually read sweet and clean romances - and this book was definitely that - but I really enjoyed the bible verses and the way it reflected how comforting it is to walk a Christian life. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

I've had this book for awhile, just now getting to it.
I love this author's books so much!
I learn from them & cry with the characters.
I just lost my youngest of two daughters. She'd battled MS for many years. She died at home with all of her family there with her. We talked a lot her whole life and most especially in her last days about seeing each other soon. What a reunion that will be! It's the hardest thing I've ever had to go through, losing my child. She had just turned 40! But knowing that she will be in Heaven waiting for me, gives me a peace I just cannot explain!

This my first time of reading a book by this author and I must say I not only thoroughly enjoyed it but I came away knowing I had learnt a number of biblical principles. I love the way she makes references to the scripture without it feeling like you are being preached at. I would recommend this book to all who want to enjoy good clean romance and deepen their relationship with Christ as well.
