Phenomenal!! This Duet is a MUST READ!! 🤩🤯🤩
OH-M-FREAKIN-G!! I didn’t think anything could rival the Transcend Duet in my eyes(my love knew no bounds), but I really believe Jewel has done it. What a tragically tangled web she weaved with this duet. Oh my dear book friends, I don’t think there is enough yoga or meditation I could have done in this world to give my mind preparation for the epic mind blowing it was in for. This book was the best of everything(book and movie genres) all at once. It was a suspense, a paranormal, the best kind of love story, a story of the strongest bonds of friendship. It was creepy and disturbingly awesome. It was the kind of book where you can be rooting for your characters at the same time you want to clobber them for being blind to what’s in front of them. This is one of those fantastic books where you literally suck in breath in outrage and your hubby or kid looks at you from across the room and goes “what the heck was that? You sounded like you were choking.” “The truth could right the wrong of a lie, but nothing fixed the truth. His love was ugly and so was his truth. “ There wasn’t a dull moment in this book, from chapter to chapter I was on the edge of my seat wondering was was around the corner for Ronin, Evie, Lila and Graham. The lies, the secrets, the manipulation. Holy doodle the way everything was coming together was terrifying yet awesome. I legit couldn’t put this book down. I didn’t just read it, I savored it at the same time I devoured it. When I did have to stop to “adult” I swear I was like jonesing to get back to it. Lol Y’all, I am in awe at the brilliance of Jewels mind. This is a book that is told in multiple people’s POV(all four main characters) and it never gets jumbled or confusing, the different details that spanned years in this book were so on point. I swear I went through every emotion I had while reading this book. Love, lust, happy, sad, fear, disgust, despair, utter devastation, frustration, depression, elation and I can promise you I will read this duet again. IT WAS THAT GOOD!! *I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book! My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐️- I’m officially Dead!! This particular Jewel Ann diet has emotionally slaughtered me! Going in I just was so unsure what the outcome would be so I was terrified. If you have read her books you know she ain’t scared to gut a chick!! Lol I’m so glad I hung in there. This book was worth every tear and raised moment of BP and heart palpitations. And all the people said AMEN!🙏🏻 🔥🔥🔥🔥- Ronin and Evie we’re still hot but there was a lot of stress and struggle for them in this book. When they got on it though. Hot as ever! 🔥🧨🔥 🌪Cliffhanger Warning- This book doesn’t end on a cliffy. Yay! Now is it a HEA for all. NO! Do I think you all will be happy ever after with the ending,Yes. You will understand this more after you read it. Sorry not sorry, but spoilers suck!!

Well, dang! Yup, that should be my whole review. Because WHAT THE HECK?!!!

I'm not saying much here, but this is a duet and you must read book one first because this book picks up right where The Life That Mattered ended. Where book one had this beautiful journey for Ronin and Evelyn, book 2 throws our deck of cards up in the air and they are a mess when they fall. Ronin and Evelyn. Lila and Graham. What you thought you may have known in book 1 will turn you on your head. Secrets and lies. Love and deception. What would you keep from your loved ones to protect them?

"I wasn't the only one holding back a piece of the truth.
Sometimes we loved with lies and protected with sins."

Go in blind. Enjoy the love of book one because book 2 will destroy you. While I flew through this book and stayed up way too late to see what was going to happen in this twisted romance, I had some really strong feelings. Overall, I liked this duet and my journey with it, but I had a love/hate relationship with character(s) and wanted to strangle others. I might have even thrown my kindle down on numerous occasions. BUT, that's what made this so good. When an author can evoke so many strong and opposing emotions out of me, I know they've succeeded.
That's all I'm giving you. GO in blind and be prepared to be screwed. Check the trigger and content warnings if you need. Otherwise, Don't say I didn't warn you ;)
This one is an experience like no other and it was not easy or pretty. The twist made sure of that. Bravo to JEA for creating something dark, different and leaving your readers messed up.

Yowzers, this one packs all of the punches! The Life You Stole picks right up from where The Life That Mattered ended. So many questions whirling in my head with hypothetical explanations. I needed the actual answers. And this sequel took me for a ride, because what is the actual truth? I was prepared for whatever rocky road Evelyn/Evie and Ronin would embark upon given the prologue of the previous book. Throw in Graham and Lila's POV and holy moly, I wasn't sure anymore what issue was the most serious or deceptive. There were so many lies, I fell for a few of them myself. But the truth wasn't pretty (hence, the the need for the lies). I wanted to strangle some of the characters for keeping secrets, big secrets that could destroy once they came to light. I realized that this was their way of loving and protecting, but all of them are grown ups in their 40s - they should be adult enough to handle the bold reality, no matter how many downward spirals they had already experienced. Between the secrets, manipulation, lies and raw vulnerability, this book stripped everyone down to the bone. Whatever I was most worried about before really didn't register on the scale of WTF and OMG compared to some of the other stuff that happened because the gravity of the issues at hand is life altering. Jewel Ann doesn't spare anyone and there are reasons to hate several of them. But then layer the hate into the most vile to the least vile deeds, compounded with tragedy and heartbreak, and it's a recipe ripe for devastation with no fingers left to point at anyone. My heart hurt for Evie because she remained steadfast and solid yet everything was unraveling around her. I'm not sure how I feel about Lila, she was both strong and weak, and she wasn't there for Evie like a best friend ought to be, although she clearly had her plate full and was surviving in the only way she knew how. I was always leery of Graham and he still managed to surprise me anyway. As for Ronin, his rock bottom lead to his destruction even though there was never any doubt about his heart. So yes, this was a roller coaster of a mind bender and emotional turmoil. I think this story attests to Jewel's ability as an author to make the reader feel so deeply about the characters, positive or negative or a mixture of both. I'm still thinking about all of their struggles with the imprint they all left behind days after I finished the conclusion. If you're looking for a duet filled with anticipation, intensity, high octane emotion and will challenge your black & white opinions, this would be perfect for you.

How do you put into anything words when your heart is in your throat? I honestly can’t. This book tight here is one of the most emotional books I have ever read. It’s definitely in my top 5. The first book is in my opinion made me an emotional wreak for 2 days. I had to take a break for a few days before reading this one. Absolutely brilliant writing.

Roe & Evie Parts One and Two are going to grip you so hard that you want to get to the end to find out how it ends.
In truth I did not intend to review both at the same time but I was too busy sobbing at the end of Part One.
I really enjoyed this book but I feel completely drained like I’ve been through the wringer.
I heard alarm bells ringing in Part One in respect of Graham and even Lila at times and if they had been my friends I think I would have been pulling back and creating some distance.
Needless to say this was woven around some really tragic events but that added to the ramped up intense feelings this created.
Some situations made me shake my head because I just couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was so invested in each character that I felt genuine affection for some and downright hatred for some others.
Just goes to show that you don’t really know people as well as you think you do.
A great read but be ready, once the ride starts there is no stopping until the end.

I won't say the three words, they wouldn't do this book justice.
Im amazed at the way Jewl E. Ann managed to tell her story. I didn't expect those events, I never would have guessed this story to unravel that way from the beginning of the first book. I found it really satisfying to read a book where the characters are developed and reveal themselves slowly, still being believable till the end and even liked that we get to see inside everyone's head (I don't always find it that interesting). The author wonderfully broached difficult subjects that are not easy to talk about, least to represent in a fair and respectful way. Last but not least, I am still breathless and shaken from the beautiful view on love, family and respect. So, I didn't say the words but the thought and the emotions are there. Thank you for this jewel ❤️

Jewel E Ann is one of my favourite authors and this will definitely be one of my favourite reads. It is so unique, a roller coaster of emotions and some gut wrenching moments. You must read the first book first. This second book of the series gives more attention to Graham and Lila as well as Ronin and Evie. My heart broke in 4 pieces and each for a different reason. There are triggers here, but I do not want to voice them and spoil the plot, but proceed with caution. This will not be for everyone, but it was definitely for me. Loved it even if it smashed my heart to pieces and was very difficult to read at times.
