    Have you ever read a book or seen a movie that just… makes you stop and look over your shoulders and wonder if someone is watching you? (shivering)
    Well, Dexter is the Master and we are his captive audience. And I’m truly excited about what he’s going to do.

    The story was so well written for the craziness of our two main characters. It was crazy and all over the place and at times I had to re read things but that fit what was going on in the characters heads at the time which made it much more real. The steam factor was pretty low and I wish that was more passionate. But it was a good book for two psychos falling in love. When ur rooting for the bad guys you know the author did a good job.

    First off let me start by saying I don't give authors 1 star because they've gone above and beyond to write there books and get them published. Everyone is talented in their own ways!! I also DNF this book. I got about half way through before einteashed it. The trope honestly was not my favorite. I just kept thinking that they were both psychopaths which was the whole point and I felt like he was toouch of an alpha male. I get his character but it just made me uncomfy. The girl I didn't care for she didn't stand out to me. Spicy 🌶️🌶️/5 no my fave.

    This was definitely a close to pitch black dark romance. I really wish the author had included trigger/content warnings as this can and will be a hard read for some.
    So before I give my full thoughts on the story here’s a quick list of some of the triggers you might find within:

    • infanticide
    • kidnapping
    • stalking
    • violence against women (and the female lead by male lead)
    • blood play
    • self-harm (detailed)
    • mental disorders (DID)
    • human trafficking
    • human hunting
    • grooming
    • child abuse
    • CSA
    • narcissism
    • gory description
    • graphic murder

    If any of these might trigger you negatively stay away from this story. These are not all the triggers, these are just the ones I picked up on and stuck with me.

    Now, back to my thoughts, I thought the story was engaging and even though i read the story in its entire I did not like the characters, at all. They were boring and therefore made the story just above okay.

    I went into this novel blind. I knew it was a dark read, but I really didn’t know what to expect. Both of our main characters have some type of psychosis. At times Dexter appears to be able to function as a normal person, then the voices start interjecting thoughts. Meghan definitely isn’t on the same level as Dexter, but she is his perfect match in every way!
    At times I felt like there was too much going on within the story. Luckily as different things developed, Shandi reminded us of the circumstances leading to the scene we are immersed within. I was definitely guessing what was going to happen all the way to the end!

    Unsure of this one, usually love Shandi's books and have read all of them but this foray into mental health is not her expertise and not an appropriate area (in my opinion) for a dark romance. In fairness though, it does round out some of the Perception series and it's quite a provocative look at how people with mental health conditions are treated.
