Incredible!

Incredible!
The Naked Fisherman is the first book in the Fisherman duet. If you’ve read Jewell’s books before then you know you are in for a treat! Her books, like this one, are highly original, her characters have the best chemistry you will probably EVER read about, and her sex scenes are out of this world. As I said, the “sex scenes” in this book are “non sex scenes” meaning everything BUT penetration. And may I say I’d prefer this to all the other dirty alpha spicy scenes out there? It just felt so ORGANIC and RAW! OMG I’m gushing again… Anyway, this is an 𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗚𝗔𝗣, forbidden romance. The heroine is an 18-year-old female who is staying with her mom and landlord (Fisher) for the summer because her mother just got out of jail. Fisher is unlike any many she’s ever encountered though and everything Reese ever thought in terms of right/wrong, and serving God gets tested when their undeniable attraction surfaces. Fisher, he’s the landlord. He’s a 28-year-old man who owns his own construction company. He’s well, JUST FANTASTIC. I don’t know if I could even adequately describe him or how important every aspect of his being is in this book. He’s a little pushy, a little crass, but his heart? I know it’s huge and I am SO EXCITED to see what he does next because that cliffhanger? It just about ANHILIATED ME. I can’t say enough good things about this book. I really can’t. I just think you need to read it, feel it, and decide for yourself if it’s also going to be a top 2021 read for you. I know it will be fore many!

At eighteen raised in a strict conservative Christian home, Reese has been sheltered her entire life. She has never lived outside of those boundaries to the point some say she is "brainwashed."
Living with her mom after being away from one another due to her mom going to prison opens her eyes and so does the naked fisherman.
Such a good book that so many can relate to!
The bedroom, pool table and workshop zip tie scenes 🥵

What I loved about this book:
    - Having grown up catholic, I resonated with all of the emotions that Reese was going through. The shame and how your self-worth becomes tied up in this very natural human act. How you make excuses and push the line a little bit further each time because your humanity is warring with this faith you've been raised in. I felt a kinship with this character that I'd never found before! I haven't read many stories about purity culture.
    - This book had me giggling and swooning all at once. Reese is so naive, sheltered, and just innocent. Her clothing choices and words of choice were just the sweetest.
    - Fisher and Reese had so much sexual tension!! Yes, the fact that it was wrong (but right) in 100 different ways definitely made them want it more.
    - Age gap romance is one of my favorite tropes. I sometimes wished we got Fisher's POV because falling for an older guy is one thing, but falling for an 18 y/o would be a completely different side of the story.
    - Knowing this was a duet, I did not mind that it ends on a cliffhanger.
    - The zip tie scene 🥵

    Criticisms I had:
    - There were a few things Fisher did/said that rubbed me the wrong way. The bath scene where he refuses to get her a towel and makes her get out of the bath naked in front of him. He says "Because I think you need to get it yourself. I need you to know that when you make poor decisions, men will take advantage of you." I can see why from a man's perspective this seems like something of value to say to a woman, but I felt like the way he approached this was so predatory and I wished he explained it differently.
    - The entire reason for them being perfect for each other fell a little flat for me. TBh I would have been fine with the fact that sometimes when it feels right, it feels right. I just felt like the word thing was a lame excuse.

I actually dnf’d this book when it first came out because I just couldn’t relate to it for some reason and I knew that hero was engaged to someone else in the second book and I wanted no part of that. However, after truly coming to appreciate jewel e Ann’s writing—I decided to give it another try—and I’m so glad I did.

I was utterly captivated by this story. I’m usually not a big fan of 18 yr old heroines, but I ended up loving Reese so much. Sure she was immature and naive sometimes, but she was also feisty and adorable and she handled Fisher so well even though she was so sheltered and inexperienced.

Fisher was written so freakin well. He was hot and intense and the polar opposite of Reese. Their chemistry was insane and the banter between them was SO damn good. This book also had some of the best (not quite) sex scenes that I’ve ever read. They don’t even fully have sex in this book and it was still amazingly good. The tension between them throughout this entire book was phenomenal and so incredibly well done.

This book ends on cliffhanger and the next book was even better.

You know the saying don't judge a book by it's cover? I'm sorry to say I did just that for quite awhile. I realize a lot of authors are going for discreet covers now, but the "cartoon-y" ones always lead me to believe they are romcoms. Add in the title of this book and I was extremely doubtful I'd enjoy it.
There were three reasons I gave this book a shot despite my reservations. The biggest one was it is in KU. I honestly had nothing but a little time to lose if I didn't like it. And even then I could always stop reading and return it whenever I wanted. The second was because I've read a few books by this author before and I've liked all of them. None of them were romcoms, however recently some of my go to authors have changed troupes and released books I didn't expect or enjoy from them, so I still didn't have high hopes. But again, KU, so nothing to lose. The last reason was because the author released a special complete series with bonus content that has a different cover. It is not "cartoon-y" but does still have the same name.
I've never been so glad to be wrong. This book is pretty emotional. It did have a few places that made me smile, and even chuckle (which i do enjoy) but no where close to a romcom.
It does end on a cliffhanger.
It is told on first person POV by only the female lead. The special edition has bonus content that give the male POV for a couple of chapters after each book. I always prefer dual pov's but I am content with the way this one was written.
The name The Naked Fisherman comes from when the main characters first meet. The male character's full name is Fisher Mann. When they meet he is wearing a towel because he just got out of the shower. The Reece (the female lead) calls him the naked fisherman in her mind. From then on she occasionally mentally calls him that (and once out loud). So, yeah, it makes sense why the book is titled that after I've read it.
Now for a little bit about the book. It stars Reece, a girl that just turned 18. She loved with her VERY religious grandparents for the last five years. Her mom was sent to prison and her dad died. Her grandparents took her out of public school and enrolled her in an all girls Christian school. She lived and breathed for God because that was what she was taught. She was taught that God was unforgiving and held His children to the highest standards. She wasn't allowed to think for herself or form her own opinions on religion. Not that she was abused, just that she was made to feel guilty and that she would be committing a sin if she believed differently.
When she turned 18 and her mom was released from prison Reece decided to visit her for the summer. She loved her mom. She missed her and wasn't allowed to visit her for 5 years. Her Grandparents weren't happy with her decision but allowed it because she was of age.
Rory, Reece's mom, rented Fisher's full basement apartment. Rory and Fisher were more than landlord and tenant, they were friends. Fisher was 10 years older than Reece. Combined with the friendship between Reece's mom and Fisher and the age difference it was a forbidden relationship. But one that couldn't be denied or stopped. Until it threatened more than just Rory's anger.

I don't think I even have the words to describe this book and how I felt reading it. The tension between Fisher & Reese is up the charts and I loved it so much! I also really liked how the author described the conflicts Reese is going through, I could feel how hard it was for her to (try to) control her hormones...
And Fisher? Well, Fisher... OMG, this man! Fell in love with him in the first scene!
I'm waiting on one and only one thing: to receive The Lost Fisherman next week!

Wow......I absolutely loved every minute of every page of this amazing book! I have been reading Jewel E Ann's books now for a few years, and she wows me everytime, I count down the days she releases a new book and I get beyond excited because I know I'm in for a treat.

This book was amazing, as with all her other books I've read, everyone of them is a 5 star read! I don't know how she does it with every book she writes, she just amazes me everytime, with all her stories & characters, she just blows my mind with her storytelling and she's one of my favourite authors to read and I one click as soon as her book goes live.

The Naked Fisherman was amazing and addicted to read, right from the very first page I devoured it. While reading this book it brought out so many feelings & emotions and maybe that's why I love to read this author books because you get all the feels reading them and you escape into their world and forget your own for awhile.

So I loved Reese, she was so sweet & innocent and Fisher, I loved him too, I loved how open he was and said what ever he wanted and he didn't care, he was just himself no matter what. I loved the build up between these two and the chemistry and banter was unreal, like I said I had all the feels with this amazing story. I couldn't put this book down and I got nothing done, I didn't want it to end and when it did I was gutted but only because I now cannot wait until I get to read the next book, I'm counting down the days! It's taken me nearly a week to write this review because I've been thinking about it, since I finished it, it's in my head and waiting to find out what is going to happen next between Reese & Fisher.

This was just beyond amazing and another phenomenal read!

    READ ON KU!!!

I came across Jewel E. Ann 3 years ago when Transcend was released. After devouring Transcend and it's sequel (now a series with book 3!) I had to consume every book she'd already published and every new book since. But this one, The Naked Fisherman.. just became my most favourite. I started it at 9pm and could not put it down until I turned the last page. Age gap romances are my favourite and I already know I'll be reading it over and over again. Do yourself a favour and read this book.
