The Parisian Spy: A Gripping WW2 Love Story (A Resistance Girl Novel Book 3) Kindle Edition
Delve into 'The Parisian Spy,' Book 3 of The Resistance Girl Series, where Océane, the daughter of Agnès from 'In Picardy's Fields,' takes the center stage.
Paris, 1942
Within the shadows of war-torn Paris, young French American Océane Bell aspires to focus solely on her medical career. Enrolling at Sorbonne Medical School and working as an apprentice doctor at Hôtel-Dieu de Paris hospital, she seeks solace in healing.
However, destiny has other plans. When Océane crosses paths with the charismatic French artist, Jean-Jacques Riveau, love sparks instantly. Once distant from the tumultuous currents of politics, she finds herself drawn into the maelstrom of war as her beloved Jean-Jacques joins the French Resistance, ultimately falling into the clutches of the Gestapo.
A treacherous gambit unfolds as Océane infiltrates 84 Avenue Foch, the sinister headquarters of Dieter Von Stein, the malevolent commander of the Paris Gestapo. Desperate to find her lover, she offers herself as the SS Obergruppenführer's new personal physician.
Yet, in the shadows, allegiances waver, and a perilous contest of wits begins. Von Stein, a puppet master of darkness, has sinister plans for both Océane and Jean-Jacques. Their survival teeters on a razor's edge as Océane strives to outwit the nefarious Dieter. Will love and courage triumph amidst the deserts of North Africa?
'The Parisian Spy' is a spellbinding tale that narrates the valor of a heroine who confronts malevolence and persists against all odds. Join us on this gripping journey as The Resistance Girl Series continues to captivate with its tales of love, courage, and sacrifice amidst the tumultuous backdrop of history.

Reviewer quote | During a time of great oppression by an evil regime comes the story of great turmoil, danger, amazing love and loyalty. | Takes you deep behind the mists of time and politics that obscured the horrors and struggles endured during German occupation. | Provides an accurate historical background, but is also an emotional and engaging story of human drama, patriotism, action. | Transports me to another time... a time not unfamiliar with the atrocities of war because it has been promised to never forget. "Lest we Forget". |
Can't miss scene | He whispered in her ear, “You’ll smuggle diamonds from Antwerp." | “I know who betrayed my family, and he’s a dead man” | More shots rang out, ricocheting on the Benz’s armored chassis. | Rows of men dressed in black, waving National Socialist banners. |

Review
"The level of research into the characters is astounding and the characters themselves are likable or detestable as was true of participants in the actual war. I highly recommend this book." Reader Review
"There is romance, espionage, intrigue, danger, and historical fiction. Hannah Byron has a unique writing style that puts you in the scene right next to the characters." Reader Review
"What a delightful book. A love story entwined in the horrors of WWII, you cannot help but be engrossed in this beautifully researched book. The characters are very authentic and while essentially a work of fiction, the author has worked the storyline into a time in history very well documented, and the book highlights so well how nobody, no matter how rich or famous you were, no matter your family history or your nationality, wasn't caught up in the ugliness and cruelty of such a horrible period in Europe's history." About the author

Hannah Byron is an acclaimed author of historical fiction centered on WWII resistance women. Born in Paris in the mid-1950s to a British mother and a Dutch father, she grew up with strong ties to France, the UK, and Holland, which continue to inspire her work. Most of her novels are set in Western Europe, where history and culture run deep.
After decades of balancing life as a mother, university professor, and translator, Hannah is now a full-time author. She writes passionate novels about resistance and romance set in the 20th century—topics close to her heart. Readers often describe Byron’s work as gripping, deeply emotional, and impossible to put down.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021Oceane Bell a young medical student living in Boston travels to France to stay with her grandfather and finish her medical education to be a doctor. She meets and falls in love with a French artist Jean-Jacques Riveau. Then world War II breaks out and Paris is occupied by the Nazi's. Oceane is working in the hospital and is forced to treat the Nazi's. Jean-Jacques becomes a fighter in the French resistance army.
This is a story about Oceane and Jean-Jacques or OC and JJ as they are often called. It is a story of the French resistance during WWII in France. A story of the young men and women that fought to free Paris and all of France from the Nazi's that occupied it. It is the story of two young people that become the most wanted spies by the Nazi's and live to tell about it.
The story is very descriptive of the horrors the Nazi's brought to the French people. How they changed their lives. There were the French that collaborated and worked with the Nazi's and would denounce a resistance worker and there were the French that helped the resistance and joined their network. These later often met with dire circumstances and tragedy but it was worth it to help free their country.
War is an awful thing, it changes people, even good people into someone and something other than themselves. That some perish is certain and that some live through it and manage to make the best of their life afterwards is a testimony to the human strength and determination. Quest for freedom is never free, it is never easy but it is always worth it in the end.
This book was a good book on the French resistance and I would recommend it.
Thanks to Hannah Byron and Book Sirens for allowing me to read a complimentary copy for my honest review. I am leaving this review voluntarily and all views are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021A well researched novel during the early days of the Nazi conquest of Paris. The female main character, leaving behind disappointment in the United States, enters medical school in Paris. She meets a debonair artist, then the horrors of Hitler's killing machine invade and life will never be the same. If you knew that your actions could save lives, would you use your education and ability to keep a monster happy? What happens when the player becomes the played? My only complaint is that, at times, the story seemed to drag with some items seemingly added for filler. I did have a hard time adding this to my e-reader, so I had to print it out, which probably hurt my ability to read and give a really constructive critique. But, as I said, it was very well-researched, both for WWII facts and the difficulty that women had in entering medicine. Very few medical schools allowed women, which made the Sorbonne a good choice for the main female character.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and thought provoking
A fast paced, anxiety, and thought provoking read. However, it did seem unlikely that none of the protagonist’s close family passed away.
