The Royal Assassin: Queen Elizabeth I's life is under threat... (Kit Scarlett Tudor Mysteries Book 2) Kindle Edition
The hunters become the hunted…
1584, London
When Sir Francis Walsingham, spymaster to the Tudor Queen Elizabeth, learns of a Jesuit assassin landing on England’s shores, he’s determined to go to any lengths to protect his Protestant Queen.
His protégé, Kit Scarlett, discovers a letter revealing the name of the assassin – Gregorio Luca. Together with Scottish agent, Iomhar Blackwood, Walsingham sends them on a mission to track Luca down.
It is clear Luca is only coming with one task in mind – to kill. But is his target the English queen?
Kit and Iomhar must scour the coast, keeping an eye on the beaches and searching for priest holes to stop Luca before he gets any further.
But when Kit is attacked, they realise they are the ones in grave danger…
Why is Kit being targeted? Does Luca know they are tracking him?
And can he be stopped before he completes his deadly mission…?

About the author

Adele is a writer with a fascination for history. Her focus is fiction in the Tudor era, telling the stories of women and adventure. Whether it’s inspired by true events or created purely from imagination, she desires to write stories from this captivating era that haven’t been written before of those on the edges of society, the paupers, the spies, the workers and those who have not had a voice.
Adele studied English at the University of Exeter before moving into an eclectic career of publishing and marketing. Having worked with the National Trust’s photography department for two years, Adele travelled the country to visit the landscapes and historical places that have carved England and Wales’ heritage. When Covid struck, the job disappeared overnight, and Adele committed her time to ghost writing and authoring her own stories, returning to her childhood dream job. Since then, she has had over twenty successful books published as a ghost writer and hopes to turn that success into stories now written in her own name.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2022Adele Jordan continues releasing intrique, foreshadowing and small snippets of Kit’s past. Surprise, yet no surprise when Kit and Iomhar are betrayed, more recall of what Kit cannot decide is a dream or memory, the harsh reality of the politics of the day, and the ongoing relationship teetering on something deeper between Iomhar and Kit makes for a read you don’t want to put down. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2023This is book two Just as thrilling as book one. Main characters keeping you in suspense, always wondering who to trust and who not. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2022There’s so much not to like about these books that I can’t really explain why I read them, other than a hopeless addiction to even vaguely Elizabethan fiction. The grammar and sentence structure has improved modestly, from book one to two, but still needs a good copy editor. The blatant foreshadowing continues — trust your readers, Ms. Jordan, we don’t have to be repeatedly hit over the head with clues! A little subtlety would work wonders. The dialogue, thought, and the ‘feel’ of interactions are all totally modern, and in this book, there’s an unnecessary anachronism—broken beer bottles? Although invented in the 1570’s they were not in general use for another100-plus years.
Will I read the third book? For 99 cents, it’ll fill a rainy afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Royal Assassin 2
A good story that keeps you reading to see what Kit will do next in her attempt to save Queen Elizabeth and break up those who desire to put the false Queen, Mary of Scotland on the English throne.

5.0 out of 5 stars well researched excitement
The character of Kit is a refreshing change - as the protagonist in this era of history.
The facts are well researched and I needed to read on to find out what happens. Some of the ‘fight’ scenes were very exciting.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good follow up.
Like the first outing, this is an interesting read and I shall follow up with the third book. Other reviewers have pointed out some anachronisms in the text, and I have doubts that letters to and from London could make it there and back in so short a space of time in those days, but I am willing to suspend my disbelief. I do feel sometimes that points are over laboured. Query - how is Iomhar pronounced?
