L.A. Frederick hails from sunny old England. Wait. That’s not right. L.A. Frederick hails from old England. Better.

An avid reader from a young age he vividly remembers being drawn into the fabulous world of fiction by the timeless works of Roald Dahl, in particular The Fantastic Mr Fox.

The escapism of fictional worlds is what led him, after a long and winding road through university and various jobs, to the craft of writing.

So when he’s not juggling the million items that day-to-day family life throws at all of us he’s either reading or honing his writing.

His debut series, The Mutant Rain and Mutant Rain Origins are dark, sci-fi mysteries with dystopian elements thrown in for good measure. “A cool cross between X-Men and Sin City.” As one reader describes the series.

Presently he is working on Songs of Star & Winter, a space opera fantasy, he describes as a cross between Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Captain Bucky O’Hare. Though he fears the reference to an early 90s cartoon series is showing his age…

A satisfying ending to a great trilogy

A satisfying ending to a great trilogy
I wasnt too sure what I was getting into when I began this series a couple of days ago but man oh man, I am so dang glad I took the plunge. I LOVE mad scientisr/doctor stories, love zombies and mutant people stories! I absolutely love dystopian and post apocalyptic stories. And this filled that craving very well. Oh wow. I have so much going through my mind right now. Am I a sicko for enjoying the doctor and his work? Probably. I downloaded that book as I look forward to more sick but satisfying details. I highly recommend this trilogy for everyone who loves zombies, dystopian, post apocalyptic stories. I Highly recommend!

I found the ad for the first book on Facebook. It sounded good so I thought I d check it out. Three books later I still have questions about the series but it was great reading. Thank you for writing. And now there are a few prequels based on this series to read!

I thought there were some really redeeming qualities to this book, but the formatting was distracting. It just didn't seem entirely polished, so even though there were some nice elements to the story, I just couldn't get past the formatting issues.

As the final book in the series it had a great ending! The characters and setting were awesome as always and the plot kept me interested until the end. It got confusing at points but quickly got back on track!

After formulating the barest of plans to save the survivors of “The Bunker,” Farrow, the former New Hampton police detective and his small band of followers return to the city in search of a large truck or bus to take everyone north away from the epicenter of the mutant rain. What they find instead leaves everyone dead except Farrow himself.

It is Benjamin that discovers the old underground train system, still in working condition, and that there is a connection with the commuter line that goes to the north country. The remaining mutants, along with the pregnant Evaline, move their supplies to the train in preparation of departure.

Farrow gets cut off from the rest of the group and he goes in search of Aurora and Isaac. Isaac, however, has been whisked away to Dr. Zhirkov’s stronghold to battle Erica leaving the pregnant Aurora behind to fend for herself. Farrow eventually uncovers her hiding place and convinces her that she and her newborn son should return with him to the mutants’ rendezvous spot to meet the train.

Meanwhile, Zhirkov’s henchmen, Vitaliy and Dmitri, switch sides, rescue a previously unknown group of human survivors and take them to the ready-to-depart train just in time to join in a desperate fight between the mutants and a group of lizard-like creatures and overgrown monsters that are preventing the train from leaving.

All in all, this was a pretty satisfying roundup to all the storylines in the "Mutant Rain" series. Is there room and opportunity for more in the future? Oh yes. And I hope that this is not the end. I kind of miss those mutants already.

If you have read the first two Mutant Rain books, you know what mutations and other evilness is caused by the Rain. But wait, this time there's SNOW! The most Dystopian, the most Science Fictional and the most Horror filled book of the series! A magnificent, wondrous adventure into a snow filled Zombie Apocalypse. And then you run into The MAD Doctor and his evil cohorts! Fun awaits! I received an ARC of this book from the author, LA Frederick.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent end to an excellent series

What a great series. This book picks up after the events of the fall. Humanity is facing ever growing threats, not just from the zombies but also from some newer, nastier mutations. The survivors face some really tough challenges along the way and ties are formed and severed.
The pace of this book is steady, albeit with some pretty intense battles along the way. The histories of Vasiliy and Dmitri are expanded upon and we learn more about the strange Dr. Zhirkov. The one thing that let's this down is the terrible editing. There are several incomplete words and spelling errors in the text which cause a minor distraction. Whether this is an error converting to E-book I am not sure but it does detract from what has been an excellent trilogy. This aside, you will be glad you read all three books in this series (as well as the short stories). Recommended for fans of Dystopian and Post Apocalyptic stories.
