Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, Penelope Carstairs stows away on what she believes to be a merchant ship, eager to find her uncle and join his crew once more. It doesn’t take her long to realize she has made the worst mistake of her life and soon she is held captive, desperate for escape once more.

Captain Ramsay of the feared pirate ship, The Raven’s Wing, has one objective in mind -- to chase down his nemesis, Captain Ortego, and take his hoards of treasure for himself. When Ramsay captures a stowaway, he knows he should be rid of the tempting vixen as quickly as possible, but cannot risk her exposing his whereabouts.

Penny is afraid of losing her life, while Ramsay fears a woman aboard. Forced to share close quarters, they find themselves in a clash of wills… but soon realize it’s their hearts that are most at risk.

Ellie has always loved reading, writing, and history.
For many years she has written short stories, non-fiction, and can hardly believe that she is now living out her dream writing historical romance.

In every era there is the chance for romance, and Ellie enjoys exploring many different time periods, cultures, and geographic locations. No matter when or where, love can always prevail.
She has a particular soft spot for the bad boys of history, and can't help but write of strong, feisty heroines.

Ellie and her husband love nothing more than spending time at home with their two sons and Husky cross. Ellie can typically be found at the lake in the summer, pushing the stroller all year round, and, of course, with her computer in her lap or a book in hand.

Penelope Carstairs is desperate to escape an unwanted marriage. She goes down to the docks in London and stows away on what she thinks is a cargo ship. After the ship has already sailed, the Pirate Captain Ramsay discovers her in the hold and locks her in his cabin. And so the Adventure begins!

This novella was part of a Pirate Anthology, so it is shorter than a normal novel. But the awesome writing and excellent plot and storylines make up for its length. I Highly Recommend this excellent novella. It has suspense, without chapters of gore. Every reader should finish a book before they review, or their posting is of no interest to serious readers.

Pretty shallow development of characters. Almost cartoonish. Disappointing….I would not recommend reading this unless you can get it for free

I have several of Ellie St. Clair's Regency Books & I was happy to see her try something new with a pirate theme to it. She has such a talent for writing fun & happy endings to compliment her wonderful characters & this book fit right in with all the others she has created. Her heroine, Penelope Carstairs, has spent her 12 & 13 years on the seas with her uncle, after her mother died but then her father found her, whom she hadn't seen in many years, & as a baronet, he felt she needed to come to live with him. She is 22 years old & her father has arranged a marriage to a man of 60 years, so the only thing she can do is run away. She has found refuge on a merchant ship, so she thinks, but it ends up being a pirate ship that is captained by the renowned Captain Ramsey. Captain Ramsay has a reputation for never taking prisoners, merciless when it came to getting revenge & taking whatever he deemed was rightfully his. Then he discovers Penelope, a stowaway & what happens between them going forward is dangerous, romantic, funny, spice & full of question if they would ever see their HEA. I highly recommend this read - you won't be disappointed in the rough & tough Captain & his crew of pirates are handled by the innocent, feisty lady that doesn't back down.

I own 15 stories by this author and this one ranks as near the top. There is so much suspense and excitement that the journey to HEA was amazing.

This is an a departure for this author and I hope she continues. She writes Regency that just pulls you into her story and character's. I think she needs to add Pirates to her genre. I loved the fire and spunk of the h and how she didn't back down, even though she was scared witless. This caused her not only to win the heart of the Captain, but the crew as well.

There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 3 out of 5. Romance builds slowly and you are on pins and needles wondering what will happen to this couple.

We have no cheating, no cliffhanger (but I would have enjoyed an epilogue), romance and a tad of spice.

I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this story and author.

I received an copy of this story when it was part of a bundle called ONCE UPON A PIRATE. I am voluntarily leaving a review and all opinions are my own. (ljb)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Pirate Story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 30, 2020
I have read Ellie St Clair’s story as I received a copy of it as I am one of her advance reader team. I love pirates , and
The romance that is found between the Captain and the female passenger. What a wonderful story Ellie has
Written. The passenger was a stowaway and the supposedly bad Pirate Captain locked
Her in his cabin for protection from his all male crew. It transpired that females were not allowed on ship due to them
Bringing bad luck onto the ship, and the ship was also full of lusty sailors. So for her protection she was locked in.
All the sailors grew to love her and at one port of call they purchased her a few new dresses. The Captain had to
Show to his men that he didn’t like her at all so there would be no chance of a riot on the ship.

Secretly he loved her, but put her ashore in order for her to be able to travel to America to find her Uncle. But
The Captain told her so many lies about his feelings for her, that she was heartbroken. On the shore she heard
Some men talking about the Captain and she knew that her Captain was in big trouble, so she sold her ticket to America
To pay for a boatman to take her to the ship that her Captain was on.

It is a very enjoyable story and so romantic. Well done Ellie, your story is fabulous.
