A wonderful story that is the perfect option for a bit of different this summer

I’ve been on a woman’s fiction kick – where the story and the characters play a larger role in the story and the romance is pushed to a secondary concern. It’s been a nice change from the romances that I love, but the change in style has refreshed my interest and joy in reading.

Allison Morse has set this story in the 1950’s and brought a sense of new and different to a time that, although more than half a century ago, is still easy to relate to. A very complex and well-developed plot is the highlight of this story, and with the unique setting and wonderful characters, this ‘shot in time’ story is a wonderfully fun and light read.

Particularly clever is the character development of both Ellie and John – hers from mild-mannered librarian to solidly in charge businesswoman and the reveal of John as more than a clichéd uber-macho male of his time are truly wonderful. These two spark off one another, and not too much time is spent in either backstory or rehashing issues, this couple and the story demand forward movement, much to my delight.

A wonderful story that is the perfect option for a bit of different this summer… Allison Morse shows that she is an author to watch, with plenty of good things to come.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
